Oh this is so much more than UI tips! Loving the first tip about considering different users and the way you told the story. The last tip about getting feedback was useful!

The first part where you explained about the different types of user, that is something which I think is very very very useful. These types of videos really help us to deep dive into a problem & understand it from the core. Thank you for sharing this knowledge with the community.

Hey Mizko nice tip about considering different user roles, as a developer too I am thinking how to effectively implement this, remember that design is followed by development. In this case might as well track app usage by device or use collected order data to optimize the flow. I do like the idea of have a favorite restaurant, which I would like to have because I do order from 3-6 restaurants no more.

Ty Mizko! Like always you are the best! I figured a possible improvement for error message. At 8:53, also chancing color of 2 words "tecnical issue" to red wouldn't be good? We could save users to read whole text, it could be a time saver.

This is a great video, thanks for sharing! One thing that I’m not sure on is with the error modal the “try again” button being red suggests to me that clicking it will trigger a destructive action such as a delete, so potentially changing it to the default button colour would make more sense?

So I’m a teacher who’s leaving the profession and I’ve been seriously studying instructional design but haven’t felt that it’s my complete cup of tea. I’ve read a little and watched vids about UX/UI and after watching your vid am so interested in learning more about this field. It definitely seems to align more with my thinking and understanding of human behavior. What are your thoughts?

Great video and I like the feedback approach, what's your method for dealing with a PM who want's something visually added that is not agreed upon within the design team? We have a situation where a request is to have icons next to ever main navigation link the the site header, we all think this is not ideal and sites don't tend to ever do this, plus it somewhat creates a distraction. As its come from the top we are finding it hard to push back on this.
@Mizko
@Mizko Жыл бұрын
Hey Max, this is a great question and I might even make a video around this. Now I'm not sure if you are referring to a top navigation or a side menu navigation. 1. If it's a side menu, I would suggest having an icon because: 1a. Side menus (on the left) have enough vertical and horizontal real-estate to allow for an icon. 1b. In a responsive context, it's also quite easy to collapse the labels to only show the icons. 1c. When you are scanning a side menu, icons and labels are stacked, so reading is not hindered. 1d. Overall, icons DO provide additional context to labels, and in a side-menu they don't compromise anything. 2. If it's a top navigation (across the top of a website), I would suggest against it: 2a. Horizontal space is limited, especially when considering responsive viewports (smaller resolutions) 2b. From a technical POV (in regards to CSS3 and markup), it's just a little more fiddly to setup. 2c. Scanning icons + labels in a horizontal manner hinders the ability to easily scan - unlike a vertical experience in a side menu. In addition, to prove a case to management you have to attend the situation by: 1. Understand the problem - Why does management want to add icons? - Do they think the navigation labels are not intuitive enough? - Do they think adding icons makes the overall design more 'modern/trendy'? - You need to get clarity on WHY management wants it... 2. Outlining the problem - Once you understand the concern, outline what problem the recommendations causes: - Less horizontal real-estate for future elements (Eg. adding a search bar etc) - Icons don't scale well on smaller devices - Showcase that no industry-leading app has icons in their top header navigation (only in side menus) 3. Support your case - What can you provide to support your case? - In the end it's always best to present your case with data or tangible results. - Can you showcase other leading websites for best practices? Even showcase design guidelines from Apple or Microsoft --- Ultimately, from the sounds of it, it seems that management doesn't have a trusted point of contact in the design team yet. Trust is only formed through someone taking initiative, delivering results and showcasing it over a period of time. I think it all starts with a first step. It could be you Max!

@7:23 I think you should name the exit button CLOSE and not CANCEL. It’s an error popup, aka info popup, there’s no user action to cancel. The error itself is the (forced) cancel of the action. (PS: Thanks for your great videos that make us think! ;)

I just started to learning UX and UI. Where does we can find the existing user kits? Do we find it in somewhere like plugins or downloading it from some websites? or we would create/design it by ourselves with different style and adds into the asset section and then using it in wherever we do wants it to be. How does we have to work?
