Best video I've watched in months.... congealed misery in the magic winter box, we dill with it. Great stuff. My Bubbe used to use borscht as a curse word, too. Personally, I substitute sci fi terms for actual scatology, e.g., frak (expletive) or feldercarb (noxious waste) from Battlestar Galactica or Klingon curses like Hu'tegh (Damn), Qovpatlh, Qu'vatlh, baQa’, petaQ, taHqeq, toDSaH (general epithet, insult), or veQ or baqtagh (garbage or poop). We do indeed eat eggs a chicken, duck, or quail squeezed out of its cloaca, which is a bit of biological trivia so nauseating it scores two bottles on the vodka meter. Of course, we shell and cook them first, so they don't taste like avian secretions or excretions. Bozhe moi, three bottles...

Love Russian potato salad! I've had some this year at my moms. Can't eat any other kind. Made a lot of pelmeni with my babushka when I was a kid . It's amazing, j could never say pelmeni because I didn't know what they were actually called. But I was close. Lol, just like the honey cookies, always said the name wrong to this day in

Have you ever tried the "weirder" Russian dishes (weirder to American tastes), like herring under a fur coat? Or _holodyets_ (холодец, aka Russian meat Jell-O)?

@@CaviarCutie I've had the jello I believe. Whenever there is a celebration. Involving my dad, stepmom and their friends, there is bound to be a dozen or more Russian dishes. Caviar is still one of my favourite ones. I'm not sure if the garlic cheese is one too but thats good in moderation. Lol

@@CaviarCutie they also drink so much tea! So much. Lol. Cups are all over the place at their home . Are Russians part British? They love their tea just as much.

Unless garlic cheese is one of the regional Russian cuisines (places I've never been), it's probably Iowan food 😂 As for the tea, you might find the Wikipedia article on Russian tea culture interesting: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_tea_culture

@@CaviarCutie I'm at their place now , cups are mostly put away. But no rugs on the walls. 😉. They used to tho. They're all rolled up in storage for protecting.

0:05 "borsht sounds like a curse word"... what a strange thing are you tell for us ? :) I never hear this. but we usually pray and make magic for a caviar to the Caviar Girl... it's a Godess of Caviar, and when you say "CaviaRRRR!!!" she send to you a small box with black caviar... by means of two roast flying swines. (It for Russians only; Don't try to do this ! ).

She is beautiful. I like Russian salad. Hey girl, I guess you're Russian, then please tell me, why most Russians I met are sad mad and bad always? Why are they angry always? Because of cold weather in Russia? I am just curious! Thanks.

Desserts might be worthy of their own video in the future! Though baklava is commonly attributed to Middle Eastern cuisine, people in Russia also enjoy it and even have their own variations on the recipe 🙂
