Figuring out which specialty you should go into as a new grad nurse is hard. To help I'm going to discuss some of the best jobs for new nurses and at the end I'll tell you roughly how much you should expect to make as a new grad nurse.

OR is not good for new grads. You don’t learn any nursing skills. I’m in OR straight out of nursing school and I wanted to be here but you don’t learn nursing skills at all! No direct pt care so please be careful when considering this one !

I'm thinking of immediately starting a nurse residency program after I get my BSN RN. Then hopefully starting a job as a circulator RN in the OR. Lemme know what you think

Im an OR nurse. Very doable and it’s exactly how I did it. I did one month rotations in three units of my choice then started directly in the OR. You get 6 months training no matter what (new grad or experienced) so if you know that the OR is what you want, go for it right away.

Hello, I am a new grad nurse ASN, also with 20 years experience as a paramedic in the ER. People don't talk much about paramedics and what we can bring to the table. I would like to work in ICU CVU or NICU I want to be well rounded critical care thinker but I also feel that I should be able to negotiate a higher salary. What are your thoughts on this?

What’s your opinion on working for the VA as. GN? I was looking into it and drawn in by the benefits but haven’t heard many people talk about it and can’t find a lot of information on it. Would this be a smart career path?

Its not as bad as you think they make you do a residency so youll be aight ig every hospital is different tho😂😂
