The first story sounds like an old song called The Deal from 1969. It’s about a man who has to choose between saving the life of his wife or unborn child. He cannot possibly make that choice, so he goes to the hospital chapel and makes a deal with God, his life for both of theirs. God grants his wish and he passes away just as his child is born and both mum and baby survive. That song still reduces me to tears even after all these years 😢
