Andy, Vault 34 was the original vault that the Boomers came from, the ones at Nellis Airforce base who REALLY love blowing things up. According to various sources inside the vault, the vault became far too crowded due to overpopulation. Foreseeing problems, the overseer had a remote link to the armory lock installed on his terminal, denying access. A group of residents demanded access to the armory, stating the right to defend themselves, which the overseer denied. Rioting broke out soon after, and the group who had demanded access to the armory stormed the exit and left the vault which were the Boomers which is backed up by the fact that Pearl possesses the key to a gun case located deep in Vault 34. this story. The main exit was then sealed and guards posted to prevent anyone else from leaving. Years later, the vault started to experience problems with the overpopulation (unsurprising), and the overseer proposed population control measures, which was another thing that irritated the residence (doing well so far isn't he?). This resulted in a portion attempting to overthrow the overseer which ended up badly when they unsuccessfully tried to storm the armory, damaging areas of the vault in the process. Unfortunately the most serious damage was to the reactor cooling vents as well as to the main computer systems and other infrastructure. The damaged reactor started leaking radioactive gases throughout the vault and attempts to repair the reactor failed trapping inside to either turn to Ghouls or die from the radiation. Be it from the attacks or by the Overseer deliberately the main exit could not be opened again, trapping the residents inside, their only hope being an automated unsealing of the vault in the near future or external intervention before they died from radiation poisoning. Which is the choice you make in the game. One of the very few quests with no karma good or bad. Given that the share croppers would simply go back to NCR territory (they weren't starving in the least thanks to NCR supplies) helping the vault residents would see to be the lesser of two evils as letting more radiation into the vault would lead to certain death for the remaining group trapped. Wish there were more you could get from this quest personally.

This made me tear up. I'm always in contact (not contrast shirt for that typo) with my mom. Not so much lately because others have been running her ragged but we check in weekly at least. But when it came to my dad... we're both socially awkward and bad at talking so we talked very little. One day I decided to stop waiting for him to call me and began calling him every weekend instead. Our talks were short but they happened, this went on for 3 years. Then the cancer came. The last time I called him we didn't talk long, he sounded so weak and tired. I got to tell him I loved him. The next week he passed away 2 hours before my usual phone call time.

Ivy is Dead thank god somebody mentioned this quest. The second I saw the title I thought about this. But at the same time you know the Crones are evil and you have the option to save a spirit which saves the kids from the crookback bog from being eaten AND defy the Crones’ wishes. I figured that the entire situation was a gamble on whether or not those folks were even alive. After all, they could've been trapped in there decades ago. I don't understand why you can't do both, save the people in the vault and shutdown the reactor. Switch the control over to the vault people, but tell them to switch it back over to you after they are out (or just go to the area where they are at and switch it back yourself. If you can't reach the area, then how would the vault people get out in the first place?) Needs of the Many is a crazy nightmare scenario. Imagine your spouse died ten years ago during the rise of the evil overlord. Times were hard. But in the years since you've rebuilt your life, met someone new, started a new family. And then one day, unannounced, some asshole wishes everyone who has died in the last ten years back to life. (Except for their own family, for... reasons I can't remember that probably never made any sense.) Your recently-resurrected ex is confused and distraught to find that you've moved on when for them no time has passed. It's damaging your relationship with your current family. But you can't turn them away, can you? You inherited all their stuff, they've lost everything, they have nowhere else to go. And it's not just you, this is happening to everyone, all over the country. It likely leads to widespread civil unrest as the dispossessed recently dead organize to fight for their rights to property and titles that they lost when they died. And it's all because some jackass wanted to make a "helpful" wish but couldn't take thirty seconds to think it through.

For example, there's a spy who wants to get someone through your post and leaves you cryptic messages so you can figure out who the person is that you're meant to let through illegally. If you choose to help the spy, you'll get rewarded for betraying your country by being corrupt at your job. If you don't help, the spy keeps harassing you over and over again with new targets, expressing disappointment in you every time and never rewarding you though you're on the edge of homelessness and starvation.

It's Myla still fresh enough to live after the fact? You don't know. There's no clear correct course here. He didn't start fighting back until after a few hits. Confusion soon turned into fear. After that, I had this bad taste in my mouth, like I did something horribly wrong but couldn't put my finger on it. I eventually learned that he was an NPC and therefore non-hostile. I can't quite say that is was regretted, but it was certainly the most poignant. KOTOR II, a random homeless guy walks up to me and asks for some money. I'm playing a good guy Jedi, so of course I give him a hefty sum. My mentor, Kreia, asks why I did that, to which I explained that generosity is a "good" thing, and that I was helping him. As she starts explaining that blindly following this concept of "good" is hazardous, it cuts away to a scene where the guy I'd just given money is mugged and killed for it. Completely turned my 12 year old brain's conception of good and evil.

Darth "Treya" is cynical, hateful and full of s*** never listen to her. She literally lives in the gray area lol
@chao8076 жыл бұрын
Well, she isn't wrong. Doing something good can lead to more bad than good and vice versa. The lesson that Kreia tries to teach is that there is NO good or bad, whether you are trying to help or not, your actions will have other effects. If you give the man some money, it seems like a good thing. But in actuality, it leads to the mans death. Kreia isn't about blindly following her, that wasn't her goal. The reason she was so "cynical" is to show you that nothing is as simple as good and bad. The Jedi vs the Sith, whichever side you are on, neither are completely good. The Sith aren't good for obvious reasons, The Jedi; however, would take children that show talent in the force to be trained as a Jedi without choice from either parent or child to be, depending on the era, training children to become soldiers. Other times in history, such as the Mandalorian Wars, the Jedi would refuse to help those suffering and forbade any to intervene. Those that ignored these orders were labelled as traitors. People ignoring an order so that they can help people, a good act, was met as if they were monsters by the Jedi. Another time, such as the Great Hyperspace War, after the Sith surrendered in defeat, the Jedi proceeded to murder every last one of them. I am ranting now, but my point is that Kreia's ultimate lesson to the Exile is that one good act does not lead to good things. Good does not equal good every time and labelling such things is futile. In the end, when you have power over another (like with the homeless man in question) whether you help or refuse, Power begets violence and misery. This is why Kreia sought to destroy the force. Would her actions lead to the deaths of many? Of course, but it would also save people just the same, her actions were not evil, but nor were they good. That is what she wanted to show. Don't ignore Kreia's teachings just for the sake of it, listen to them and act on your own will without thinking of "good" or "evil", weigh the results of the actions taken and live your life as you wish to. Do not just do something as it is a good thing, as it could just lead to much more suffering than what was previously at stake, no power over others is good, whatever the intentions. ~~Rant over :3 ~~
@Heartshapedbox816 жыл бұрын
@@chao807 that was a long rant lol, I'm aware of the Sith Jedi debate from a long amount of years of being a fan and obviously the Jedi are far from perfect which is depicted in said game so I don't disagree with it but I do disagree with her ideology nonetheless. And I was applying it to the real world not in regards to Star Wars, the people who try and paint everything as gray are usually the ones who are up to Shady things, power over others is weakness disguised as strength. So no I'm not saying blindly dictate people for the "greater good" I am however saying that there is good and there is evil and a lot of it is plain to see in those who are not lying to themselves but those who say gray area this gray area that are usually the ones who are just trying to get away with evil, if you have half a brain it shouldn't be a difficult task to figure out, not directing this at yourself but towards those who try to make excuses and call those of us who wish to do good weak or naive, my eyes have been open to a lot of the uglinest inside of this world, I don't see Gray but I do see lots of hideous secrets and lies in order to protect those who shouldn't be protected and keep people in power who also shouldn't be while stepping on the helpless so... maybe it's not different from the Star wars universe after all, but much like I hate when people act like there's no hope for Humanity and that all human beings are inherently evil I also hate when people purposefully make themselves ignorant just so they don't have to "see" between right and wrong.

Milo Keech I see you’ve not seen the fanbases. I think its the more popular something gets the worse the fandom becomes here’s why. For the most part the Undertale, rick and morty and Steven universe fan bases consist of normal reasonable people. But the parts of the fandom everyone talks about are of course the really reched, cruel and down right insane people. These people in the fandom overshadow the rest of the fandom which is why people consider them cancer. The reason you may get people like this in the fandom is because of how big it gets, that’s what all the cancerous fandoms have in common they are all really popular. Because of this the source material can reach these awful people there by overshadowing the others in the fandom there by making it cancer. I love night in the woods and really don’t want these types of people getting there hands on it.

The first time I played Life is Strange (and Luke is already tearing up), I remember going into Kate's room to comfort her after seeing her get picked on in the bathroom (and I guess return her book, too). At the time, I hadn't realized how much stuff there was to view in the world, and I knew even less about the Bible, so I just looked at her family photos and the Bible verses and went on to play with Chloe (yay!). Once I was back at school, turns out someone's getting ready to jump off the dorm, and wouldn't you know -- it's sweet innocent Kate Marsh. Of course, my powers stop working, and since I don't know what the right bible verse is here and didn't answer her call earlier......she jumped. On subsequent playthroughs I was able to figure it out and save her, but that first time....I'm so sorry, Kate. Really.

In Bloodborne, there’s a woman named Arianna. Later in the game, the moon turns red, and Arianna becomes pregnant with Oedon’s (an invisible eldritch god-like creature) child. Eventually, the child is born as a hideous eldritch monster, and Arianna can be found crying in the sewers, as the child cries for her attention. Here you have a choice, kill the child, or let it live. This might not seem like much, the “let it live” must be the good choice, but killing it gets you one of the four Third Umbilical Cords, which you need to see the true ending. Plus, Oedon probably didn’t birth this thing with the best intentions in mind-could be a Dunwich Horror situation. I killed it, and Arianna let out a cry of pain, dying along with her child. I felt like a monster..
@insaincaldo6 жыл бұрын

Ксения Старцева The only reason I’d say the choice with Arianna is better, at least in terms of “choices I regret” is because it was a conscious choice to do something I knew I’d regret (kil a newborn monster) rather than a bad ending with good intentions.

Chris East The “they used to be people” morality question never hit me that hard. We’re always fighting monsters who used to be people in games. What about in Skyrim when you get a Dark Brotherhood contract to kill Alain Dufont, who robbed the Shatter-Shields and betrayed Muiri. You have to kill Alain but optionally can also kill the remaining Shatter-Shield sister for extra gold. Since I was hell-bent on completing all optional DB missions, I killed her. I think the Dark Brotherhood questline should have had some quests where you kill a serial killer or a child molester so the questline could stay in a gray area. Excluding Alain Dufont, every other target seems to be quite innocent. Commander Maro seems like an honourable man. The nobility with which the Emperor accepted his death was shocking. Narfi is a homeless man coping with the loss of his sister. Anoleius is a simple hunter who was killed for no discernable reason. The only kill I felt good about was Amaund Motierre. If you were told that your target did *this* despicable thing, then their death would be understandable but you get no such thing.

1:50 - IIRC Vault 34 was an experiment to see what would happen if the Vault dwellers had a surplus of weaponry. Basically some folks left (they became the Boomers), and when others wanted to follow them but the overseer said no and posted guests at the entrance to the vault and the armories. Civil war happened, and while trying to blast their way into one of the armories through a side wall, the rebels damaged the reactor containment which... basically led to everyone who survived the civil war being killed or turned into feral ghouls by these radiation leaking out. Good times.

Something I did in Mass Effect 2 kinda breaks my heart every time I think about it. So during my playthrough I was romancing Tali (aka best girl) while also being the nicest guy in the universe. One time when it was time for me and Jack to have a heart-to-heart about her feelings and past etc, I thought I was just being a really good friend. Turns out the game considered it as more. I went upstairs to chat with Tali when I was met with some sad lines, one of them along the lines of “it’s a small ship, word gets around.” My heart snapped, crumbled, and got ejected into space, so I save scummed for the first and last time in my entire playthrough and picked some neutral options during Jacks heart-to-heart. To this day I feel like shit.
@malindemunich28836 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I had a similar thing happen. They really did make romancing Jack way too close to simply being polite and nice... which may be the point? For a person like Jack and all they've been through. I have a few examples of decisions in video games that could go horribly bad: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard: Who would you save? Mia or Zoe? Save Mia, your wife who worked for the secret organization that created the main villain of the game. Or Zoe, the daughter of the Bakers who tried to kill you, but was the only one who didn't go insane and tried to help you escape in exchange for saving her life. Apparently choosing poor Zoe gets both her and Mia killed. Simulacra: If you don't accept Ashley's feeling on Anna's behalf and still manage to befriend Taylor, you have to choose to either save Taylor's life of save Anna. Saving Anna means giving Taylor to a - let's face it - cyber demon and letting it inhabit his body and continue a mass killing spree. Saving Taylor means making an innocent man who was just trying to find an honest relationship kill Anna and get sent to jail on murder charges to stop a threat he didn't even know about. Simulacra 2 is essentially the same, but you have to find a way to make friends with three horrible people who are barely bothered by their dead friend. And if you fail to befriend even one, you have to choose one of them to kill. Undertale: Pretty much the whole game in a nutshell is the typical decisions of gamers n all games in general. You can choose to live like a pacifist and make friends with every single monster you meet which gets you the true and best ending. But, for every monster, you have the option of killing them. Killing even on monster, no matter how weak or insignificant, will take away that ending and get you either one of like a dozen neutral endings. Or you could go all the way and go full on genocide. But, if you make the decision to actually do full genocide, your game will remember it forever. There's no getting rid of Chara after that, even if you do pacifist again. She's always there. Completing the mission: I know, the Henry Stickmin series is just a bunch of stick figures in a some funny games filled with TV show and video game references. The games all have multiple endings you could go through. But, how many of you felt guilty getting the Valian Hero ending in Completing the Mission

Am I the only one who thought Jane not knowing Alfred's name was just a joke? :P

She doesn't even know that catwoman likes batman and had helped him on multiple occasions.

Naah man, he's the FATHER FIGURE of BATMAN THE COMICS CHARACTER. That's really important so you have all the reasons to be bothered.

The decision I regret most was in Fable 1, having to choose whether to kill Whisper or not. I normally play maximum-good but after much debate I finally decided to throw caution to the wind and off her. I then spent the rest of the game having people ask me why I did it. A little stab of guilt every time.

Jesus Christ! I played as an anti hero and I only killed her brother

@@chaotik7853 You can kill Thunder during the "Lost Chapters" DLC I think.

My husband found either a glitch or something where you can just knock her out and still get the reward. But he always kills thunder just because hes a show offy asshole and thats how he raised his sister.

Notice how nobody questions you killing the Guildmaster? Guess everybody was sick of his intrusive hand holding.

Not gonna lie. Jane’s Night in the Woods entry made me tear up. I’m gonna go give my mum a call.

Quiet an old video but I wanted to say that the bonus round with Jane was adorable. When video games make you think about real life. Also, about Dark souls and Priscilla, I straight up forgot you had the choice not to fight her. I finished this game about a million times and killed her every single one like a true monster. On the other hand, I felt bad for killing Sif, even though I didn't have the choice...I mean, that animation they added at the end of the fight, when the poor beast is limping is just heartbreaking, I really felt like I was an horrible human being.
