This is one of the best of many running channels I watch, some great technical stuff for self improvement when you think you’ve peaked. Why only 25k subscribers I do not know, nearly always excellent content.

Thanks for the tips!! This morning I tried to stay focused on the tips given for running uphill when I did my training run. Downhill is not a problem. I felt the difference as my body felt lighter on the uphill. also keeping in mind about my posture ( a string from the top of my head connected to the sky ) I felt the difference. Hoping to keep these tips in mind when running.

Like it!! My favorite channel. When going downhill keep those hips forward, relax and let those legs just swing/'rotate' their way around. Going uphill I find it difficult to avoid the temptation to go pedal to the metal. But that's me. Don't forget those norwegian hamstring curls, for me, probably the best of all strength drills. Maybe because I am still dreaming for the day I can go through 90° down then up!! Back straight and no hands. :-)

i would like to add, be careful at the bottom of a long downhill section. i nearly always have to make a conscious effort to get back to flat running mode. too often i have been 1/2 k after the levelling out and realised i was running slower than i should

In 1978-79-80, my HS coach told us to open up our stride length and fly down the hills. I've always enjoyed that feeling and it certainly gives a boost of speed, letting gravity do the work. Can you help me bridge to this newer thinking of shortening the stride on the downhill?
@Truther20012 жыл бұрын
I would imagine that depends on the severity of the inclination of said hill. The steeper the hill the shorter the strides!

Shortening the stride give you better stability and less wear and tear on your body. It pays off later in the race. You fly down enough downhills at reckless pace you legs will be threaded from the pounding

Economy is as much about oxygen usage/wastage as it is about substrate use I think. Also for 2 distance runners with the same economy numbers the one with higher VO2 max will be faster.
