@dr_obisgarden I already asked this but need to know if I can use a pineapple with some brown & dead leaves? I don't want to waste my time trying to grow this if it doesn't sprout healthier leaves! Thank you!
@dr_obisgarden3 ай бұрын
@dawnmdelo it depends. If the dry and dead leaves is due to stay out for too long then it will sprout new leaves and grow to maturity. However if the dead leaves were due to disease, it'll be reinfected even after growing new leaves and it may not grow to maturity. If you're unsure of the cause of the dry and dead leaves, I'd advice you to get new tops. Growing pineapple takes a long time so you want to start right 😊.

@@dr_obisgardeni have a small 1.5ft pineapple plant indoors, with a 3 inch pineapple growing up. The plant is green and vibrant. Lately the little pineapple is falling over and yellow as if its drying up. Should I cut the pineapple off? Do I need to transplant to a bigger pot? I also have a small baby plant growing next to the bigger one.

Put holes in buckets to drain excess water. Planting in ground is best. We plant in cloth bags so we can move in during cold snaps.

Thanks for this informative video. But sir i need your on fertilization by drenching, can i pour dissolved granular fertilizer at the center of pineapple without killing/damaging the plant? I will be thankful for you answer.
@dr_obisgarden2 ай бұрын
You're most welcome. If it's a granular fertilizer for foliar application, you can pour into the center. I won't recommend it for any other granular fertilizer slated for soil application.

You put it in water right after taking it off the fruit 100 percent guaranteed to rot in the water let the bottom of the stock dry before planting is the best way don’t water often because they hate wet feet just water when the top of soil is dry poor the water right in the center I have grown hundreds of pineapples
@dr_obisgarden2 ай бұрын
I agree that letting the bottom dry before putting it in water is the best. I recommend that too. However, if you actually cut off all remaining fruit from the bottom you can still put it in water right away and it will not rot unless of course the crown was already infected. This is from experience.

What brand fertilizer do you recommend in vegetation stage.
@dr_obisgarden Жыл бұрын
I can't recommend a brand. But just look out for a fertilizer that has NPK composition of 19:19:19, 15:15:15, 20:10:10, or any combination that has high N and moderate amounts of P and K.

I let it dry for 2 days. Gonna plant tomorrow. It's rainy season in my country and I'm trying to prevent them from rotting.
@MochaMaknMoney3 ай бұрын
Right! Everyone else says to let it dry. That's what I did to get roots. He's confusing 😅😅😅
@dr_obisgarden3 ай бұрын
I guess it didn't come out well. Leaving it out for a couple of days should be okay and allows it cure. What is not good is leaving it on the counter for a long time when you're not ready to plant. In that case it's better to let it root in water whilst waiting.

I bring mine in for the fall/winter and have a stick in them to see when they are dry. Summer we have it rain once a month at least so I don’t water them.

It can grow well when it gets enough water, but it will succumb to diseases if it gets too much water/rain and there're pathogens in the soil.

Yes. When you put it in the water and the roots grow, you will see new, green healthy leaves in the center. The brown leaves will start to turn green at the bottom as well. That's what mine are doing.

I had a second one that wouldn't grow roots, looked down in the middle and it had mold. I threw that one away. I'm going to try to post a picture of the one that I clipped the brown off. I didnt understand the watering, you showed watering the center, then I think you said dont water in the center than showed plants with rotten centers. So what did you mean on watering
@rustic355 ай бұрын
He never said don't water the centre. He said don't over water. 🤦♂️
@t.a.c72925 ай бұрын
What I understand of what he said is that you need to either water directly into the center, or very low to the sides to prevent dirt from getting into the middle since that can rot the plant.

You tube changed up some stuff???? So I had to start over again. I lost all my videos that I had saved. I called many family and friends to tell them your tips. I am a big fan!!! Your a great communicator. Your tips work!!! The first day I watched a video, I was hooked!!! I was so happy I watched every single one in one day!!!! Went to friends house and she had a struggling pineapple tree, she gave it to me!!! It’s alive…. Need to give it some attention. Been tuff year, fighting with kidney stones. Doing some better. Thanks to you, I am growing ginger, turmeric and pineapples. Still need to try the banana tree. Honestly it looks very impossible!! I am going to be mad at myself if this works along with child like excitement!!!! I live in tropical very hot region in America. I am able to try lots of things. I love how humble and modest your growing channel is. You show every one you don’t have to be wealthy to grow food. I will be letting everyone know I have found you!!! Have a awesome dayDr. OBi!!! Play all your needs are being fulfilled!!!

What a fuxxing load of bulljit, just use a liquid fertiliser at half strength when needed and make your own "soil" an equal share of course sand and coir mixed together do not use any old soil you find in the garden, grow pineapples in pots and always try to keep them in the sunshine by moving them around depending on what part of your garden the sun is shining on during the seasons.
