My guess for the Red light/Green light mechanic is there is a Thwomp hidden at the top of the room, and there is a P-switch above the red square. The Thwomp and the block (which is visible) are in time with each other, so if the block is in the red square, that means the Thwomp is above the P-switch. If the block is above green, the Thwomp has no P-switch.

The end trick works because there is a thwomps travelling on a track in the same way as the stone block. There is a p-switch on the red semi solid side ! I think that is right! 😁

I think I got it (thanks to One Person giving me the bare basics) The Stone Block, P-Switch and Thwomp are moving together on different tracks but on the same path. The Green side has something extra though. Terrain blocks block the path from the Thwomp and the P-Switch. The question going through heads now is the fact the Thwomp should still activate and once activated, it will be stuck however that isn't the case. If I'm remembering correctly if a thwomp is inside a wall, it won't activate. I remember this since my level had a mechanic with 2 Big Thwomps on a path going round in a square didn't activate no matter how close I got or even when I was under it. Just for reference sake, people who are curious or for the evil reason of more people to play my level, I'll leave it here, the mechanic I speak of is in the hard part of the level I created. supermariomakerbookmark.nintendo.net/courses/A032-0000-025A-E75F Well that's my solution to this mechanic.

Remember the "Mushroom corridor" idea? My guess is there's a thwomp on tracks above the red/green room, and he'll drop when Mario enters the room. However, when the block is in the red area, he's above a PSwitch, whereas when the block is in green, he's not. Even though I don't own Mario Maker, I still love your videos. They give me great game design ideas for the things I do have at my disposal, and they're always so cheery. Have a great day!

i also have an idea,it is not as genius but i'll do my best to explain: mario walks in a corridor which is blocked if he tries to go back (Megaman Style) by a one way wall. he stumbles upon a giant arena which is seperated into two vertical halves. we need to give Bowser Jr. a mushroom and a clown car. the border is divided like this .one way wall downward(to prevent cheating and letting the shells through) oneway wall upward, a bunch of donut blocks and in the middle a blue platform and then repeat in mirrored order to make it symmetrical ,which makes him "Get Over Here!" but you can not reach the "border" so you make an 3 high 4 wide contraprion,3 hard blocks and 3 Pow blocks to the right of the arena , alternating in a zigzag pattern, again to prevent cheesing,place 3 spikes atop of the 2 by 3 structure and you got a 3x3 square. place a buzz saw in the middle and a red bill blaster at the end (containing a spring),place some conveyor belts facing away from eachother, note that the spring must NOT land on the conveyor belt or else it is dragged out of reach. here is what you neeed to do. destroy only the right giant koopa shell and you "damage" the "machine" 3 times, after which the spring is fired out and you can jump up, jump on Bowser Jr.`s head 3 times and the battle is done. handy for people like me who always wanted giant Bowser Jr to take 6 hits instead of three.

For the "magic trick," it's simple. You need another track with a p-switch machine moving at the same rate as the block. When this happens, if Mario gets too close to it, it will change the floor, however the system is lifted UPWARDS when it's on green. It's a timed machine that moves vertically so the green doesn't also cause the floor to disintegrate. At least this is MY theory. I could be dead wrong, but this seems like it would work.

I dont know if you are going to do more megamaker in the future, but I found this mega maker level creator with amazing courses and concepts. For example: 130655. A puzzle level where you have to move the cannon so you can damageboost through the ending on the left. Its so creative and well-made. The name of this guys is ultimatedavid42, and he made a serie of levels like this. He deserves so many more upvotes

I got it! The red light green light is also used in other levels I have seen. There is a twomp on tracks and p-switch under the red part. It is set so when the block is in the red the twomp is and will crush the p-switches. If the block is in the green, however, the thwomp will hit nothing and Mario is safe.

I have an idea for the platform trick. Mario has to run down a hall where the floor is falling platforms over spikes. After getting a key or something he has run back through the hall, but this time parts of the floor are missing! Maybe some enemies appear to appear. Maybe the fallen platforms could have landed in another room for another prize for revisiting the room.

Hammer Bros. also have quantum loading mechanics. When loaded but not on screen, they stop throwing hammers, meaning they only walk left to right. I am 100% certain something immensely cool can be done with this mechanic.

The new magic trick is the "floor is lava" mechanics from a few videos ago. A note block below the screen is charged (i.e. can drop its content) during the period the clown car is in front of red and uncharged while it's in front of green. As of the way how it can be charged and uncharged, there's the "clown car with block" possibility you showcased in "floor is lava", or also more simple just munchers on tracks that make it bouncy periodically. Or, vice versa, the note block is on a track, so only drops its content when fully loaded AND touching the munchers. (The last subsentence is also true for the more general case, I just noticed.)

EDIT: Just noticed that doesn't work for letting Mario stay in the area indefinitely. Still, the contraption is related to loading behaviors of stuff. Wait... It's so easy. Above the area, there are Thwomphs activating P-Switches. If the area gets loaded while the block is above green, they are pushed aside before they can activate the P-Switches. They are positioned such that they trigger exactly the moment Mario enters the room. From all I know, normal tiles unload while out of the +4 zone. This makes it a little tricky to position things right, but should work in some way. (Probably there's a "push activation" contraption at the load boundaries of when Mario is entering the room, that triggers a mechanism to push aside the Thwomphs before they can stomp the P-Switches, of course only if the block is in front of green. The short delay I observed is a point in favor of this theory, it is necessary to give the contraption enough time for pushing the Thwomphs aside.) Reloading is a problem, which is the reason why the area is one-pass. (The activator necessarily being above the reloadible area should not be an issue, as it only prevent things from happening rather than making things happen itself. Although, the Thwomphs being pushed aside might have further consequences in a more complicated setup.) It would also be possible that it works the exact other way (i.e. the Thwomphs being pushed onto P-Switches when the block is in front of red), if it weren't for the indefinite aspect. Although... Well, it might even be more simple. There's a contraption that triggers once loaded. If it trigger while the block is in front of green, nothing happens. If, however, it triggers while the block is in front of red, however, a P-Switch is activated. It might be as simple as the muncher and the bullet blaster you used for explaining loading behaviors. If the block is in front of red, the bullet blaster is loaded slower, letting the muncher fall on a P-Switch. If, however, the block is in front of red, the bullet blaster loads faster, preventing that from happening. It doesn't actually need to be a bullet blaster. It can also be some kind of railed platform or block, as long as the muncher stays atop of it until it's pushed off. The muncher only falls down when loaded. Railed objects appear to be constantly loaded, as a railed object in the distance appears after some time. (You probably know what I mean by that.) So, if the muncher gets loaded while the platform is below it (as indicated by green), it drops on the platform. If it gets loaded with no platform below it (as indicated by red), it drops on a P-Switch. The platform just mustn't drop it on a P-Switch again. That, however, doesn't explain why the area is one-pass.

Every keeps saying it's a Thwomp, but because there is no screen vibrations, I hypothesis this then be the work of a big enemy or blaster/cannon/muncher, possibly a setup invoking a spiketop or other enemy walking on a conveyor and carries one of these objects mentioned above,and a wiggler runs into it if Mario enters the room during the red, causing it to turn around, possibly run the top enemy into a wall and dropping onto a p-switch. However the wiggles is blocked my a bullet blasted on a track. Then on top is a mechanism built to block said p-switch if entered when the block is on the green, this prohibiting the activation. Edit: Even if this isn't how it's done in the video I feel this would be fun to construct :)

This magic trick is based on your, "Don't touch the floor" on your dangerous list of evil! there is a clown car hidden out of sight and below it is a P-Switch if the clown car hits the P-Switch then the floor disappears! The design is set up in such a way that when a block block is in a green semi-solid platform then other clown cars block the regular clown car over the P-Switch. It's that easy!

You can use the fact that things don't despawn as long as they are in a rail to make a level that behaves differently depending on the amount of time it takes you to do things, without worrying about how many screens the section takes. My level, the time caverns (BC99-0000-00C8-7E48) does this

There is a thwomp on a track moving at the same intervals as the block visible in the magic trick, which slams down whenever Mario is in range of it (i.e. in the room). However, f it slams down whilst the moving block (as well as it) is in range of the pink/red section, it hits some p-switches directly under the pink/red section, and turns all the bricks to coins. It's the same thing as the boss with the 1ups. A P switch is only triggered when in line with the red box. Over the green block there is blocks or something, stopping anything fall on the P switch.

There is a something on tracks following the 1st track. There is a P-switch on the ground above the green crystals. If the 1st track is on the green part, the thing extends and the thwomp can't drop. Otherwise, the floor becomes shiny yet deadly coins.
