Wow you are certainly ambitious...in a good way. Good job in sticking with it bc it turned out nice. I’ve been sewing for 50 yrs & have always recommended 2 things in your journey. #1 press as you go...you’ll be amazed how your clothing will look professionally made vs off the rack; plus use a pressing cloth when ironing delicate material. And #2, always walk away when you get frustrated & come back another day bc it will save on your sanity & your love of sewing. BTW you might consider picking up a cutting board to place on your table that gets you off the floor & if your dining table is smaller, it extends the size. It is a heavy duty cardboard in a rectangle shape that folds like an accordion for easy storage, which you can get at JoAnn’s. Good luck in sewing and & don’t lose your enthusiasm or creativity.

Thank you! Love your suggestions and will definitely keep them in mind-can’t wait to check out the collapsible cutting board. What a great idea! Very helpful as is tip #2. Definitely important to practice! Appreciate your kind words and happy sewing to you! 🧵🪡

Your blouse is also looking very nice❤ I think, simplier patterns are looking better and are less frustrating. But you can be proud of the result.

Good on you for just going for it!! Your outfit turned out lovely and you'll wear it with pride!! Silky fabrics are such a challenge to work with. Personally, I like to use spray starch when I'm doing my initial iron of the yardage after it's been washed and that really helps to give the fabric some body and some grip so it stays in place whilst cutting and sewing. Did you wear it to your work conference?

This was definitely an “I’m just going to go for it piece” 😅 I have worn the pieces as separates, but I chose to wear this for some thing else I had going on recently-it didn’t make the conference cut. 🪡🧵I love the idea of using spray starch! Definitely going to have to try that.

I read a tip on another sewing video that recommends using a walking foot on slippery fabric so that both the top and bottom of the fabric stay together and don't shift.
