Amazing how great you look and sound after only 6 days. Has me reconsidering surgery but will look into TULSA first to see if I am a good candidate. Hope all is still well with you as the video is a few years old now.

I am doing well. It's May 2023 and I am done with hormone treatment. My PSA is undetectable. So from here on out I'm done with treatments. I have found a new Urologist since I have moved, primarily to watch over me for the rest of my life. I wish you well too. You can do this.

Thanks for the video. Im 8 days post DaVinci Radical Prostatectomy. Was walking the next morning around hospital. Thanks to the pain killers. Was started on the regular diet and allowed to go home that evening. I'm walking in the backyard every couple hours for at leaat 10 minutes. Still sore but not nearly as much as 5 days ago. My elbows hurt like craxy until about Saturday. Catheter comes out on September 4. Recovery is going well. My prostate was the size of my fist so some reconstructive bladder surgery was needed. 9 hours in surgery. We'll see how I'm doing in another week. Catheter doesn't bother me, yet. 😊

Right now it's 2024. If you get this comment can you please tell me how you're doing? Did you have any reoccurrence of your cancer? Hopefully you did not! Thank you.

Hi Rick… I’ve been contemplating an update video… guess I should. Thank you for asking. I am doing very well. No reoccurrence. After I found new doctors for my follow up treatments (radiation & hormone) to wipe out any lingering cancer cells, I am happy to say my qtly bloodwork shows PSA undetectable. With my new oncologist ( I retired and moved to Florida), I will continue my regiment of eating healthy, exercising 5 days a week, and general living life right.

Why radiation treatment if your cancer was contained in your prostate?

Do you need to take male hormones after this? Or are you comfortable as things are?

After radiation I was given a series of Lupron injections for 18 months. I handled it pretty well. I did get hot flashes… so weird. But the combo of the prostatectomy, radiation, and hormone treatment was all to my benefit.

Are you sure you want to do that? I'm in the same predicament, but am considering Active Surveillance or another treatment other than surgery. What are your Gleason Levels and PSA? Mine are a 3+3=6 & 3+4=7 (only 5% of the 80% is the Gleason 4. PSA is now a 9.1, up from 7.4 four months ago.
@kieranoloughlin

@@KENNIEMI Unfortunately my Gleason's is 4 + 3 with the growth in my prostate going from 5 mm to 10 mm in around 7 months. PSA has gone from 5.7 to 8.7 in the same period. I have been sitting on this for 4 years with active surveillance so its been hanging around for a while. I would interested to know what the catalyst was for it to increase its aggressiveness. Cheers, nice to chat.

@@kieranoloughlin oh I see. With the non-favorable 4+3, I cannot blame you for getting it removed. Best of luck and prayers to you. As you know, if we have to have a cancer, this is the one we want to have. Hope all goes well. Once you recover, if you're so inclined, I would love to hear back from you to see how it went. Take care.

@@KENNIEMI Thanks Ken, fingers crossed I guess. The situation is a no-brainier really. The next tricky bit is getting the right surgeon as you only get one shot at this. I will keep in touch all going well. Look after yourself.

@@joepasquarello1273 Because of my family history, my father passing from prostate cancer, my wife passing from breast cancer, both due to observational surveillance, my cancer prostate was coming out… I would definitely do it over. But I would do way more research and interview diligence, up front on my doctors and staff. Because of my work health coverage, I only looked at my hospital and their doctors to stay in the plan. While in St. Louis we had one of the top US cancer treatment facilities. My Surgeon and hospital had a ‘Standard Of Care’, which I found out was not the best. I still have E.D. and zero libido. In hindsight, I would have found the best surgeon cancer urologist and deal with working out of plan.

Before the operation procedure did they scan your entire body for other cancer? If not why not?
@kevinvitale8980
@kevinvitale8980 3 ай бұрын
Other cancer? That doctor who did my surgery did not order a whole body scan. Just a pelvic and abdomen scan. I trusted his diagnosis and actions. Post surgery and follow up, I did not care for his or the hospital’s ‘standard of care’. I did find a new doctor and hospital.
@hectorarbe
@hectorarbe Ай бұрын
Hello, I hope you are fully recovered and that everything is going well. They probably didn't scan your entire body because your Gleason score was between 6 and 7, but they are now at 8, 9 or 10, if they consider the PET scan. Blessings and I wish you the best.

@@tabcobra Had a few rough days. Gas pains in the shoulders. It just slowly goes away. Stirs up when I move around. Constipation for 3 days, finally out of that. Abdominal pain was also an issue for 3-4 days. Quit the pain killers (none were Opoids) and that may have helped. I really hate the cathether, comes out in 48 hours. It is like a pet on a leash that you don't like. Have scrotum swelling and trying to control with ice packs. Jury is out, still swelling with black and blue color. Hopeing that when the tube comes out the real recovery begins. Coughing is difficult due to the 6 holes in my abdomen. I hold a pillow over it and press to allow for the pressure. Glad the cancer has been removed. Doc said he had to take a major nerve out due to lessions. I'll know more when I see the doctor in 9 days and the biopsy results are back. It has been a rough time, but I didn't expect a rose garden. Thanks and take care.
