"I'm from Iran. We have a similar story in our culture called 'The Liar Shepherd.' It's said that the shepherd always cried 'Wolf, wolf,' and when people came to help him, he would laugh and say, 'I just lied.' Eventually, one day, wolves really came, and he cried for help, but nobody believed him, and the wolves killed all his sheep. The moral of the story is that a liar will be the loser. When someone pretends something, we call them a 'Liar Shepherd.'

Very similar, but yours has sheep dying instead. It's cool to hear how widespread this story is

The references from AI looked quite scary 😆and they must have been learning a lot from Kazuo Umezu

Haha! I've been loving the AI features recently in the videos. I may use them more in the future. Expect more scary images!

How can I get the most out of the video?

I've always thought that 'bear with me' comes from the verb to bear(bore-born). Is it really connected with the animal?
@LevelUpEnglishPodcast6 ай бұрын
@@tatiana8833 I think that’s right! Not 100% certain, but I guess it means “don’t be harsh with me”, related to the ‘bear’ as you said. Definitely not related to the animal - it’s just a homonym. I should have made that clearer in the episode, although hopefully it’s okay because the origin doesn’t really affect how we use it - it’s just kind of cool to know

@@LevelUpEnglishPodcastThank you for the answer. I just wanted to make it clear for myself. It's really easier to memorise the whole phrase with the image of a 🐻)) I enjoy watching your videos, they are great, thank you so much for creating them.

Did you learn Japanese from a book called genki?

I've heard about it but never used it before! I first started with a website called Tofugu. Then I moved onto graded readers, KZbin videos, podcasts, etc.

@@ruben2633 A classic! I didn’t include it in the video because I’d say this one isn’t commonly used. Everyone knows it, but I rarely hear it used in conversation
