I cant find my head voice, just chest, and falsetto (disconected sound)

Raúl Aguilar, finding that connection, that "blended voice," can be tough. Try starting in falsetto and see how far down into your chest voice your can take it. Keep the sound light and easy. Then, try to see how far up you can take your chest voice - again, light and easy. There's a place during both where you may feel your voice start to "tilt" into head voice from either direction. It feels weird and strange at first, but those exercises really helped me.

Wow! This helps me, but sometimes my head voice sounds so weak and I'm scared to use it live while performing. Btw im just 16 years old. :)

Using head voice live *is* a frightening thing, at first. My best recommendation would be to get comfortable with it around someone with a good ear that can provide you honest feedback about what is "useable" live and what isn't. That will depend quite a bit on the style of singing, too - an operatic high C has a very different approach and sound to a metal high C, for example. If you check out my Leprous cover, I hit some crazy high stuff in that metal context that I just don't have in my "opera voice."

As someone who has a chest voice vocal range similar to part of your head voice, how do I know if Im in head voice or not?
@MetalOperaGuy
@MetalOperaGuy 4 жыл бұрын
Ooo, that's a really good question. I'm sure there's a better technical answer than this, but I would describe the difference largely on where the sound is placed. When I get into my head voice range, it feels like the sound is going up through the roof of my mouth and through my nose, whereas chest voice is more the same placement as talking, if that makes sense. I think that would make a great future video!

FWIW, the male voice doesn't *fully* settle for some folks until their late 20's - early 30's. I'm 32, and was a Bass II around both of your ages. Now, I'm singing high tenor/alto! You're doing right by yourselves by getting familiar with your voices early, for sure. Just don't beat yourselves up as you're learning and developing - focus on having fun and being the best that *your* voice can be!

I hear you - it's a super fine line to walk. If you're having the same struggles I did, I suspect that you're putting too much weight into the voice as you are going up. What I've been doing to work on this is a combination of doing this exercises and singing music that puts me just at the top and above my passaggio (usually G#-A territory). In fact, I was working in this voice lesson to prepare for the cover of "Hallowed Be Thy Name (kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZS0aqCGgLKFhNU)" and although it did pay off, I would say it is MUCH more evident in the "Music of the Night" performance, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eJmwnqlnac2El9U If you skip to the 2:14 mark, you'll hear the literal first time I have EVER used head voice in a live performance. Compare to 3:31 where I bring my full voice to that note (I think it's a G?), and there is a brief little blip where my voice did start to break. I let off of the weight, added more air, and corrected. I find that singing in head voice is one of those things where you have to really relax for it to work properly. Certainly easier said than done!!

Please stop with the hand gestures gestures are confusing people and they don’t help
@MetalOperaGuy
@MetalOperaGuy 3 жыл бұрын
Fair! I tend to use hand gestures during lessons as I'm learning, using that external motion to connect with the internal sensation of the technique. Never thought about how that would look for others. Thanks for the input!
