If you think that's sad, try getting a job with a temping agency in the UK. (the only jobs available incidentally. you never get a permanent job, you get a temp job and if you brown nose your superiors enough. you might be "lucky" [LOL] enough to be offered a permanent contract, after they've exploited you for 2 years on half the wage of the permanent employees). In a temp agency job over here, you're conditioned right from day 1 to KNOW that you don't matter at all, you're just a number, expendable labour that can be replaced with the click of a finger, and if they want rid of you,they will just tell you at the end of your shift not to bother coming back. its often a battle to get paid for the work you've done. you have no rights. there is a law that after youve been a temp for 3 months, you're entitled to the same rights as permanent employees... ie holidays, job security, a stable contracted number of hours, etc... but in order to get the job in the first place, you have to sign a waiver giving up these rights, and sign a waiver to say that you won't be bound by the legal restrictions of only being able to work 48 hours a week. after that, you're not allowed to be SEEN with your phone even in an emergency, you're not allowed to talk to your colleagues, you're not allowed to spend more than 3 minutes on a toilet break (which is a serious issue if you have Crohn's disease like I do, making a toilet break a messy, bloody affair). and if you're even so little as 1 minute late from your dinner, you're fired. I'd bend over backwards to have the job that lady had over the nightmareish jobs that are available over here.

there are horror stories in jails and prisons.i worked in the San Diego county jail from1992to2010.i seen females and males fall in love with an inmate and ruin their lives. I hated it after last child support payment I quit.i got sober from drinking to deal.

The first story: Even I knew as a little girl how evil people can be and probably are. The second story..Girl! She should've quit after that guy escaped and beat and raped his gf before escaping in the woods. Why wait and go through all that mess with the one bathroom all the way from the office and that 'penpal'...The boss should've never suggested she get a 'penpal' especially from prison and especially when she learned he was ex-military and she wasn't told what he went prison for. Third story: He wasn't pulling a prank He was going to get you. Fourth story: They needed to learn from the second story. And people need to stop pushing prison penpals onto other people.If these people are so great to have as a penpal the people pushing them to others, need to just become the penpals themselves..but we know they wouldn't. Fifth story: Evil,creepy person just like the first story. And that c.o. (like the one in the first story) need to quit, find a new job, and move. Sixth story: Going somewhere you shouldn't, is just asking for trouble. Especially for teenagers -who most need to learn the hard way. Great reading as usual, Let's Read!

Letters helped rehabilitate me. There is amazing catharsis in the simple act of forming your thoughts and feelings into proper sentences; the most well-formed ideas in our minds are never this, they need to be written or verbalised. In prison, the less you verbalise the safer you are. Please try to expand your understanding of the variety of people that earn punative consequences. Some, like myself, require these in order to grow and change into something wiser and stronger, with more respect for their position within the community. (Edit: 3 years later.... lol)
