We spend 6 hours in Casablanca in this Morocco Travel Vlog! Watch as we visit the white city of Morocco, including incredible landmarks like the Hassan II Mosque, and Rick's Cafe for those "Casablanca" film lovers!
We have been in Morocco since February of 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and we have recently been able to visit other parts of the country, rather than being stuck in our apartment in Rabat.
We take full advantage and visit the iconic city of Casablanca! Watch as we spend a few hours touring the city and giving our thoughts on what we find! We got a bit of a late start in the morning, so we only gave ourselves 5 hours to see Casablanca. We really enjoy walking, so our sightseeing was all done on foot!
As we begin to travel a bit more, please know that we are being as safe as possible and we advise other travelers to do the same!
So, enjoy our take on a few hours spent in Casablanca in our continued Morocco travel vlog series!

Geographically speaking, some of Morocco was never under official French Occupation or any other foreign occupation. Casablanca Rabat and that middle part of Morocco was under French Protectorate This means there was always a Moroccan Government and Moroccan Ambassadors worldwide Morocco's north and southern parts where however under Spanish occupation.. two cities in the north are still under Spanish occupation Tangier was an international city, I think under UN authority All Protectorate status ended in 1956, after which Morocco began regaining sovereignty on its other territories

if you walked all the way on foot, you must have walked about 10 miles!? The peninsula on the beach, those used to be Private Swim Clubs Some of them had American names such as Miami Beach Club, and Kentucky Club etc..

Some inside info for you guys - Hassan II Mosque is actually a whole Cultural complex You saw the Mosque, one of the buildings you showed I think is the Library They also have a building there for theological research - The downtown area where Rick's Cafe is (on Avenue Des FAR) went and still undergoing a wholesale reconstruction. The Train Station you arrived at is part of the whole project, it was inaugurated about 3 years ago, I think. you'll notice a problem of lack of sidewalks, that's because most of those streets are part of the old city design Some of those streets may become pedestrian walk ways It's usually a lot worst kinda like downtown Atlanta or NYC, very crowded by people and cars

You forgot to mention the most important info, which is that they wouldn't have had access to the mosque even if it was open! That Mosque and all others are only for muslims it's not a cultural complex it's not for sight seeing! Pretty important information to suprisingly be ommited! For embelishment purposes perhaps?

You have to visit Habous in CASABLANCA, it's a big old area built between in 1918 & 1930. This quiet area is now home to many artisans selling handcrafted things , and lot of library, cafes & restaurants. I hope you come back to Casablanca, to visit Habous. Good Trip.

Hello guys, nice video like always.it’s nice to see you visiting Casablanca .Unfortunately all the sites still close. Guys try to go to Tanger , it’s only two hours ride by the fastest train in the world 320 km/h . You can go early morning and come back in the evening.Cost around 115.00 DH /person. You will see where the Atlantic and the Mediterranean ocean meet. But before you go do your homework ,so you don’t waist your time. Like time for first and last train , famous sites and restaurants. Good luck.

I’m glad you moved little far, Casablanca is nice you just need to know where to go exactly or you will lose time and energy. Taxis are life savers in those situations, I don’t know how you did all of that walking, taxi cost only $2 or so. I do suggest Essauira you will love it, check it out. The best way to move from city to city is the train, if there is no train the best bus device is (7eme) sept-eme, like greyhound in America. Enjoy the time, you guys are the best nicest couple 💖

I'm glad you've finally made it to Casablanca. Such a huge place to visit. So perhaps a challenge in 6 hours! It's a pity you haven't been inside the mosque. So beautiful! It's also a pity you've visited it while lots of roadworks and remodelling projects are underway! These have been dragging on and on and now even worse with the pandemic. It's unpleasant to go for walks in the city centre at least. Anyway, hope you've enjoyed it! A Rabati resident here!

@@BeckyandRyanTravel me too I love Rabat, my hometown. I find it quieter, cleaner and safer than Casablanca even if this city has its own character. By the way, I'd like to say that each and every city in Morocco is unique in its own way. If you can visit Morocco, you'll notice the differences in terms of climate, for example. As you head southward, the hotter and drier it gets. Same thing goes for the east. The mildest weather is north and west. Overall, Morocco remains milder than most African countries. You can sense this diversity when you see the architectural and the colour patterns. You should also plan your visit taking in consideration historical backgrounds. Something I've noticed you do in your videos already. I'd like to add that most cities have special things to offer the visitor. Perhaps you could visit what we call imperial cities. You'll learn a lot about the rich and long history they tell. From Roman to Amazigh to Arab to contemporary influences. Have a good journey! Hey and last but not least, STAY SAFE! 😄 😄

the Hassan II mosque It is built under the reign and directives of King Hassan II. Planned on the site of the old municipal swimming pool, its construction began on July 12, 1986 and its inauguration took place on August 30, 1993, after seven years of work. The structure by the mosque is a religious research facility I was told.... what ever that means. Casablanca was known as the second Paris back in the day for its arts and for how the French planned and build the modern part of the city resembling Paris. Good to see you are getting around and exploring... Your video went well with our ice cream break today.. We are in the middle almond picking season, which is fun it's just a little bit to hot these days. . stay safe and stay hydrated .. snow camel out!!! ❄️🐫

A G&T there would have been amazing! I'd actually really like to go back for that when things open up again. Almond picking sounds really cool! Thanks for all of your hard work in the hot sun to make sure we all have food!

@@BeckyandRyanTravel I am more of black Russian man myself but when I was there last we had had the lamb shank which was not all that bad but I still think it's overpriced..(not that I m cheap but I grow up in household of chefs father executive chef in Norwegian hotel chain and my mother held courses in moroccan cuisine so food was always at the center at home) . We them moved to the lounge and bar area that is when after a few black Russians the atmosphere was awesome and felt very Bogardish and went on to order G&Ts that is when I discovered that the bartender was talented the drink a poured in a fashion that you actualy tasted stuff not just got slushed... Went there on two occasions one with my former job as group, the other on a more romantic setting and it worked!!! we are now married😜❄️🐫

@@BeckyandRyanTravel so how is tetouan? Hope you are enjoying your self they have nice beaches overthere two... You asked about my farm... It's a long story but it started with wanting a cabin on the country side since my father just inherited some thing like 1100acres odly enough 58 years after my grampa died so it starter withe little hut and now I m the midst of building a house a barn for sheep a chicken hatchery and rabbit nursery .... We have about 300 olive trees some old as 150 years old. 250 almonds and 200 figue trees... These are our commercial trees meaning we sell what we harvest... And then we have a garden that I started last year it has about 100 or so trees and shrubs 25 different fruits 10 or so different herbs and a space for seasonal fruit and veggis. Oh yeah 12 cats.. And about 7 dogs... They just show up and never leave... 😂😂😂🐕 But due to covid work stop all the builder went home.... We make sustainable coal and soap (you know lye from the ashes and rain water and olive oil etc... ) my goal is to start a brand of high quality products and environmentally safe.... But most of all my son.. He does not interact with other at all but with the animals he is happy and my daughter who apparently likes Becky because both have curly hair or you made harrira she doesn't understand much English but likes watching you guys and by the way she calls rayn smiley man. 😁 And back to the farm... We have a hill/mountain on our land so I m dreaming of make a hiking trail and a cafe at the top but that for another tiime... Sorry for this abnormally long comment it would have been better as an email... And like I said before if need help do not hesitate to ask snow camel out!!!! ❄️🐫⛄

Rick's Cafe Casablanca was not the backdrop fo the 1942 movie. The place was actually designed to recreate the bar made famous by Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman in the movie.

That is great info- thank you! The mosque was blocked off- we would have loved to see more but there were armed guards outside! It's definitely something we'd like to see again.
