HUmorous, as when in reference to Hedonism,, none of the students broke out in laughs/giggles, UNREAl = Dead souled students.

I drive for one of the big package delivery companies and your lectures are AMAZING. Your videos playing through my ear buds have gotten me through a solid two weeks and now I’m watching at home 👍🏻. Hope these kids appreciated what a good teacher you were!

It seems like Plato is proof of Paul's words that God was always near to us and hoping we might find Him while we groped in the dark. It seems like Plato was as close as you could be without having direct revelation like Isaiah or Abraham. What an interesting set of characters these guys were.

It would be more interesting to have a student try to convince the others that the Betty Sue is more beautiful than the Mona Lisa without the other students seeing the Betty Sue beforehand.

Plato actually is not the only contemporary source of the life of Socrates. Xenophon also writes about him, and he is also portrayed on stage by Aristophanes in The Clouds. I actually have a presentation about that on my channel if you’d like to check it out.
@brucegore43735 жыл бұрын
You are quite correct, although Xenophon's treatment is somewhat limited, and Aristophanes is intended as a spoof.
@red.falcon97175 жыл бұрын
Bruce Gore Xenophon’s point of view gives us a more personable idea of the Philosopher. Aristophanes at least gives us an idea of how the public saw him. Socrates even mentions Aristophanes in Plato’s Apology as one of his earlier accusers.

wow no huge out burstSSS of laughter giggles at the reference of College males always seeking Hedonism and the sophmore yr as feeling the pains of this philosophy,, UNREAll, talk about a bunch of dead soul students, I would HATE teaching this class, UNREAL,, 8 yrs ago, Have no idea where this College is located. That example of hedonism was hilarious and well expressed, pertinently bulls eyed home, No laughs, UNREAL

The Pope called Wyclif a communist back in 1377, too. That led to The Reformation!

you mean the most important philosopher to western society, not the entire planet.
@brucegore43738 жыл бұрын
Well, actually Plato apparently drew from eastern sources as well, and his philosophy has been regarded as important beyond his very significant impact on the west. The question remains a matter of discussion, of course.
