I have quite a high bridge to my foot so when I get to the middle of the lacing holes, I loop them back through eachother and to the side they came from for the next loop. this helps with comfort as most boots/shoes are uncomfortable without doing this. I also do the runners loop at the top and when tying off I wrap twice before the 'bows'. It's an old Ice Hockey lacing tip I picked up to increase lockdown and keep tension so if the knot comes undone, it stays tight until I can get them tied back up

Hats off to Jay for telling us the very best ways. Now as I have a wide feet I applied the Dani Alves technique and it really works

Dani Alves' lacing style saves my experience with the new speedflow and mercurial. So definitely give it 10/10. Highly suggest for ones that have chunky wide feets.

The runners loop is best technique to tie laces...I've used it many times in matches and I can tell u the lockdown is just perfect, it creates the perfect amount of compression in the middle part of ur boot and matches are usually long in which u definitely need the most comfort possible to play ur best, it also reduces the possibility of ur laces getting undone..and u definitely don't want to ties ur laces again and again(lot of embarrassment and ur coach might kill u)...if u haven't try it yet IDK how are u living..go on just try it...u will not regret it. If u read this till now, have a good day. - CHEERIO

I just bought new boots (Asics Gel Lethal 18... Apparently one of the best boots to get when you're old with shit legs like me that suffer from ankle/knee injury and shin splints) and after trying them on and running around the yard I knew instantly that I was going to get blisters on the back of my feet. After watching your video about blisters I then saw this video and watched it. I changed the laces to the "OG Runners Loop" and went for another run. Woah what a difference that made! I'm still going to strap my ankles and shins but I'm hoping my recovery time after the game is less thanks to these boots and your video!

I do the reverse system, plus a similar ankle tie down on superflys. by leaving the knot on the heel instead of brining it back to the front. For low cut or “normal” reverse system works well i just offset the knot to a corner of the shoe tongue and tuck everything away in there.

A little hack if your boots are too tight in the mid foot, I start the laces like the normal OG style until you get to the 3rd lace hole and then skip straight to the fifth ones and carry on like normal.

I really love playing as well with the runner's loop! It's a great way to get more comfortable and it's like I have more technique on the ball. I have a small question though... I know that a lot of profesional players play with gripping socks, but which profesional football players actually use the runner's loop method as well? Just really curious, because before I didn't even know this lacing method. Thanks a lot 😊

I have one more way to tie the lace, it is an alternative runner loop for a double lace holes boots like my copa 18.1. Instead of going in and out from the 2nd last hole, you simply just go INTO the 2nd last hole and OUT from the last hole of the other side. Then going back in from the other last hole in order to create a loop, then the lace will go back out from the reminding 2nd last lace hole ON THE SAME side. And from there you might have variations, if you prefer maximum lockdown, you can cross the lace again through the runner loop and tie your lace. Or instead you prefer slightly less lockdown, you can close the runner loop and tie your lace from there.
