I'm 45, been out since I can remember and we definitely didn't use the terms tops, bottoms and switch etc to describe roles in bed, it's really only come in in the past ten years or so. Butch and femme were a thing, but tops and bottoms in the lesbian community is way more recent, and has arrived with the increasing prevalence of trans + different sexualities beyond the traditional lesbian, gay, and bisexual.

Billie eilish didn’t queer bait (as a gay/bi person) the song she wrote was about wishing someone was gay… just cos it wasn’t in that why doesn’t mean she can’t name a song that
@ginandromeda1618 Жыл бұрын
@@Nova_sisjYeah, that queerbaiting conversation rubbed me the wrong way, I'm so done with that topic in online queer spaces. Ariana literally said she really doesn't know what she is after being called out again for the lyrics "I like women and men" in her song Monopoly with Victoria Monet, lyrics that Victoria, who's openly bi, is the one singing them not Ariana but people still wanted to call her out, y'all know how Twitter Gays are. And Billie has given many clues she could be queer, maybe to test the waters or maybe cause she's not ready yet to say it in public, and the fact that people think she's baiting is probably heartbreaking. I don't like this faux dichotomy of you're either straight or openly queer in the industry, let artists explore themselves in their art, let them be subtle, give them space to understand themselves and learn that NOBODY, whether a public figure or not, owes you a coming out. This harmful rethoric made a main Heartstopper actor came out as bi after he was harassed in public for dating a woman "and being a het actor" when playing a queer character, and he was just 19 at the time, he didn't deserve that

@@WattPheasant decentralizing men doesn't mean cutting them out of her life completely, it means unlearning the ways that women are trained to prioritize the feelings of men over their own (often as a trauma response) and how being wanted by men is treated like the ultimate marker of worth for a woman. for many women it takes conscious effort to stop living their lives for male approval because it's what we're taught to do growing up. also, at least in most parts of the Western world, you can't decentralize black people from your life because they were not centered in the first place. you can decentralize white people because whiteness is treated as the default, and PoC are expected to cater to white fragility. same deal with how men are centered in a patriarchy

I initially thought Maura was the mole when she said that she was the oldest of the group but didn’t know the terms “Bottom, Top, Verse” etc… despite these terms having been around in the LGBT community for decades. It was when she started talking about the struggles her “wife” went through and became emotional when talking about it that made me think she was actually a lesbian. I was convinced by the end that Maya would be the mole because she mostly used stereotypes when answering questions and made the “Too pretty to be a lesbian” comment regarding Mars, which was surprising to hear someone who is a lesbian say, especially as it’s a term that is heavily disliked by the lesbian community.

@GoddoDoggo Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, but no, I thought I was asexual at the age of 14, and that was almost two decades ago. "Asexual" has been a fairly well-known concept for quite awhile. "Butch" and "femme" have been more popularly used longer than that for sure, though. "Top/bottom" was only used by gay men until very recently, and I still don't understand why young women are using that, unless they have an exclusive strap type of situation.
