They were upset that lavender wants to quit and her perception on it because they probably hear that from people outside the field. But maybe they need to understand not everyone did it as a choice or enjoys it. Lavenders background seems very traumatic, and it’s so sad that she was kinda invalidated. And to clarify I think that it is a valid profession but you need a little awareness in it because for everyone in the field they don’t see it that way.
@vields2352 Жыл бұрын
It’s probably projection too, the amount of sex workers that say they are totally ok with it etc. and then say how damaging it is when they are older after they have quit is huge. I would say it is the majority of people that go through the sex work industry that have regrets. It really takes a certain type of person to do this work and thrive and if you are that person then you do you, I just don’t think we should be promoting it to young people like it nothing because it’s really not for everyone.
@cyanideburns27449 ай бұрын
Sex workers doing it "just for the money" honestly really hurt the industry, they make all SWs look like we need to saved. I know Lavender didn't mean it this way (edit: not y'all wilfully misinterpreting me💀) as she was only talking about her own experience, but it's so so dangerous to imply sex work is an ideal route for getting rich quick. Maybe 0.1% of people actually do well in the industry whilst thousands of others toil and sacrifice their privacy whilst failing to make rent. The popularity of SW as a "hobby" or fun thing for "anyone" to try has only made this worse. Edit: This was not intended to disparage Lavender, I was simply using her statement as a reference point. I really enjoyed this episode. I also love how one of the girls was saying about virginity being a social construct. I totally agree with that. Another thing is I was wondering if the mole would be someone who is a sex worker but has never had sex. I don’t think people realise is that you can be a sex worker and still not have had sex, because the term “sex worker” covers a really broad variety of things.

sometimes you withhold some stuff from an unsupportive family not because you aren't proud but because that kind of information will hurt them and they will (selfishly) act like victims. How is it contradiction? Being yourself without harming others obviously upsets strangers who love to judge. So to protect yourself from them you don't say anything, not because you aren't ok with yourself, but because people are too rude, dangerous and judgmental.
