I really felt what you said about your mental health declining during the college application season. It’s currently early March and anxiously waiting to hear back from more schools is mentally tiring. Also, what you said about applying to schools for the name is so true. So many people fantasize about going to Harvard but they don’t really consider if they’d actually be happy if they went there.

Why did everything you say relate to me lol. I know you’ll prob never read this but I’ve been struggling a lot with picking schools because I don’t want to disappoint my family. I know I realistically cannot get into a top school due to my low gpa. But what you said about your sister not going to a “top school” and still going to Columbia brought me so much comfort. I’m trying not to let my high school gpa define me because I know I am smart and I really want to work hard during college. Thanks so much Cecile 💖💖

No omg I try to read all of my comments! Don’t worry if you can’t get into a top school right now. You aren’t defined by the college you go to and you can be successful wherever. Keep on that grind in undergrad and you’ll get into tons of awesome grad schools!:)

hey cecile! brown class of 2024 here too lol! honestly, i've been really loving your videos, and i can CERTAINLY relate to you too. similar to you with yale, i was also the same with brown. my mindset was "either brown or nothing," and that is something that was really unhealthy. obviously, i can't say much now, because i did end up getting in after (i also got deferred through early decision lol). anyways, i can't wait to see you on campus later next semester !! 😁

Thank you for your honest take; it's rare finding KZbinrs like this, and I'm grateful to find someone who is just forthright and candid about their feelings. I got rejected from Yale EA December 15th, but tbh I'm not worried about it. Just binge watching Star Wars shows and building Legos, like I've done for the last 8 years :D I feel like you gotta pursue what you like and are good at imo, college or not. Picking colleges by major makes the whole process a whole lot less stressful. For example, since I've been intrigued by Cybersecurity for the last two years, I realize now I'll probably be better off in Georgia Tech/Korea Uni than Harvard.. lol

1. Do you have any more tips about deeply researching a school besides DMing their students? 2. Do you have any advice on how to open up our options? And also are there any underrated match schools you think people don't talk a lot about? I don't know where to start with researching match schools and how to determine if they're a good fit for me. This was a great video! I kept saying "periodttt" throughout it because you gave genuinely good advice :) Keep rocking it
@cecilesch
@cecilesch 4 жыл бұрын
1. KZbin videos like day in the life videos, sometimes online discussion forums, looking through the school’s Instagram or social media pages and looking at organizations past projects if you want to mention that, reading reviews about alumni who went there and how they felt, etc! 2. I think the best place to start is by looking at online lists and forums to see where other people are applying, especially people who have the same interests. I can’t talk about specific math schools because every match school is different for every student, but I will say that many T50 schools (more in the bottom half not the top 20/30 part) make sense here depending on the student.

Hi Cecile! Is it okay to list all of your colleges to the teacher you’re asking for the ‘letter of recommendation’ from once they agree to write it for you? (I didn’t tell anyone else for the same reasons you mentioned in the video)
@cecilesch
@cecilesch 4 жыл бұрын
I would think so! However, most teachers usually write a general letter of recommendation instead of one for every school. This is because it’s easier for them to just submit the one letter on common app and have it apply to all of the schools you listed. Overall though, they’ll probably see where you apply when they upload the letter to common app, so I think teachers are a safe choice!
