The longest period of time I let my cornrows are 3 months straight 😪 I can tell you: the growth and thickness are super but the patience and skills to detangle are another thing 😫😄

Hi Queen, think you keeping your hands out of your hair has helped you retained thickness n length. Maybe doing a 2-3 months of protective styling. not touching your hair will continue to increase your healthy beautiful thick long natural hair n Your hair looks so thick Queen congratulations ❤❤❤ I know you must show different hair methods to your audience on how Ayurvedic ingredients work. However Queen stick to what is working for your scalp n hair. You have made amazing progress.

Your hair is to long now to leave for 6 months. Try taking each braid down with Aloe, cactus or flax seed or even conditioner once a month, just to detangle, break up the new growth and rebraid it. Detangle with your fingers add your cream and simply rebraid it. This way you’ll lessen the breakage when you detangle after 6 month. I get it but 6 months to long a time not taking your braids down. I take one braid out at a time every 2 weeks. No breakage. Detangle , add oil and grease the ends and rebraid it.

I hear you about the hair being too long to leave for 6months. Mine is getting there and the longer it gets the more I have to adapt to the length. I also feel the sense of freedom in between the days I do my hair, just not touching it gives that feeling of having time to focus on other things in life. I thoroughly enjoy my hair no doubt but the amount of time I have to spend on it sometimes I just want to reduce it right down and still balance that with getting rid of tangles and being gentle. Compared to what I do for take down I think she can absolutely douse the hair from root to tip with the product. The combination of aloe and cactus and liquid with leave in is great 👍 for slip, melting tangles and reducing breakage. I am naturally very very heavy handed with product so I would douse, soak or douse my hair again and again with the product until it runs down my neck even then let it soak a few minutes, my hair would be so saturated with the product the tangles and shedding will be zero, a comb wouldn't be necessary at all, even after 6 months. Imagine it this way, what would you do if you were trying to take down proper locs with no breakage?

@@Chengetanayi_Dyirakumunda exactly. I’m the same way. When i take my braids down they are dripping in product. Ambunu is the best followed by flaxseed gel. I’ve let my braids go a month but no more. It’s a lot of work yes but thats the price for our natural hair.

@@jacquelinelockett so true, and I think it's that way because nowadays we don't live in communities where we do each other's hair and it's more of a chore than a social skill. I remember growing up and when my mom taught my sister and I to do each other's hair when I was about 8years old, and we carried on like that to high school and beyond. I love doing my hair but it has become more of a chore doing it all by myself especially the longer it gets. But the good thing is I get to be as gentle as I want, do a style that I want and with the help of KZbin ideas are flowing, especially on this channel I keep coming back here because I relate a lot with her hair journey. Nowadays I seem to be in control of my own hair care but I miss having someone else do my hair and not worry about quality of hair care practices and how it will affect my hair, paranoid even. I just don't trust anyone to touch my hair and that is just the cost of modern life🤷🏾‍♀️ all the nyami nyami ingredients and concoctions are available but doing it all by yourself sometimes takes away that social element without having to pay. I relate a lot with her channel because sometimes you want to connect with others about hair things and even while you do your hair. Ambunu works wonders with its slip, it's sooo versatile❣my hair loves ambunu even as a detangler, shampoo or leave in, it soakes right in and no need to wash it off after detangling, my hair just drinks it up too and I wonder where it goes. The Ambunu I got from Miss Sahel directly from Chad is the real deal, its sitting right there along with the mountain of fenugreek and flaxeed under my bed and never out of season for detangling.

Right because all that growth you got in 6 months protective styling you would’ve gotten without protective styling also. Why take down so many knots at risk of breakage when you can prevent the tangles and decrease the chances of losing hair by maintaining your strands often. When I take down my twists every two weeks I literally get no breakage like none. But when I try to go longer (4+ weeks) just to see what it’ll be like, too many tangles! I’d rather not put my hair at risk.

I used to ask that question of youtubers too, why do this, why not do that, why not do this to your hair? That was until my hair got to the same length and I found myself doing the same things I was questioning why do that to your hair. For me I think I got to a period I was sick and tired of doing my hair, I had life going on and doing hair had to take a back stand. Also for some people having kids and having time to even do your hair once a month is such an achievement because life is just busy with a child, let alone 2children, 3children and in my books anyone with 4children or more and still has time to do hair has a lot to teach me because finding time to do my own hair with just one child is already a challenge. I guess people leave thier hairstyles in for a prolonged time for many reasons depending on what life you are dealing with outside doing hair. Not that you want to intentionally neglect it, but you could be fed up and still not want to chop or relax the hair, but you just need to focus on other things too as well as hair care and I think that's OK too. It's that part of our hair journey that maybe you might or might not reach but I did and I felt I understood some hair youtubers more when they did things differently with thier hair. I don't know what her reasons are for leaving a hairstyle in for 6months, but I know there must be a reason which I may not want to ask until I get there in my own hair care journey, then I will know. I may not get there but I have asked that question in the past and I got my answer soon enough💌💌
