The one thing that confuses me about the first case is how tf that for nearly TWO YEARS nobody at the neighboring house realized there was a dead body in their yard. Thats insane

@@stonevinland6072 Well to be fair, the wind doesn’t constantly blow in only one direction for two entire years tho.. Idk if you’ve ever had the displeasure of smelling human decomposition.. (hopefully not!) but unfortunately I have on multiple occasions and it’s absolutely unmistakable tho.. It also travels for quite a long distance too. It would seem that they for whatever reason didn’t bring in a cadaver dog, because if they had, it would’ve been able to pick the smell up from her front yard, given her proximity.. If I’d have to take a guess, I’d say it was fairly safe to assume that they didn’t have much experience with search and rescue. You start from the last known location and do what’s known as casting. Basically a circle grid, moving further out from said location. Especially with a elderly person who’s got something like dementia. Because it’s rather unlikely she’d of made it very far at all.. Had they done that, combined with a cadaver dog. They absolutely would’ve found her. But if I was a betting man, I’d say that the lack of resources, combined with inexperience was most likely the reason why she went unnoticed for that amount of time sadly.. I’m not going to say that I’m 100% correct. But what I am saying is that it’s a pretty reasonable assumption, that’s all. I also don’t think it’s anyones fault either. You can’t blame the people who were in charge for things that them may not have been well versed in… Basically people wouldn’t know what they simply may not know. Either way it’s a unfortunate situation for her and those who cared about her!!… 😔🙏🏼

Poor Paulette. Alzheimer's is such a terrifying and sad disease. A local man with Alzheimer's went missing in my area too. He had wandered away from his house and walked along the frontage road, and had fallen in a drainage ditch. It's believed he succumbed to his injuries a few hours after falling in. Which means he had been lying there for hours, with cars driving past him and no idea he was down there probably yelling for help. His body was finally found 4 years later by construction workers servicing the ditch. His family was devastated. My neighbor had Alzheimer's and her daughter put alarms on every door, with an alert that would go right to her phone if the door was opened when she was distracted by chores. I truly hope that one day in the near future they find a cure for this horrible disease. Right now they don't even have a full explanation for it.

Hopefully one day in the future. There are drugs there which slows down the worsening of Alzheimer's disease. That's a progress. But it'll be really difficult since the condition is characterized by reduction in activities of cholinergic nerves and there isn't neurogenesis after birth except in the hippocampus. But nothing is impossible.

I wonder if you can have some GPS jewellery made, like it maybe sounds daft but a necklace with some GPS device so if your relative goes missing you’d at least be able to track them? I obviously have no idea how feasible that is, but it’s something I’ve thought about before. My granddad had Alzheimer’s but he also had mobility issues, he recognised his granddaughters and grandsons (including me), but not his sons (my dad included), and didn’t remember his passed on wife (grandma). Last time I saw him I was 11 and my dad obviously was glad he remembered his grandkids but devastated his dad didn’t recognise him, his son, it just hurt so bad seeing him putting on a brave face as a kid. He was in a really nice care home along the banks of Loch Ness tho, he was from Drumnadrochit so it was a familiar location but with mobility issues they at least didn’t have to worry about him wandering off, but he was a lot more argumentative and easily angered as time went on. Just a terrible disease, I just can’t even imagine how it feels to lose your memories and feel like you’re losing yourself, I’d be angry too.

I've heard about that first case before and it always irritated me. "The police conducted an extensive search" became "They re-opened the case and found her like 8ft away from her house". Did the police officers just turn up, do a 360 spin and go "Nope don't see her, she's probably in a river. Bye!" I know they probably wouldn't have saved her but how extensive was the search if they found her next door?

@collaborativedataaccounts3249 I'm trying to tell this story to as many people as I can because I feel it's an import moral When I was a 14 year old lad I went with a group of friends to a guy named Stuart "loose bum" Rennie's house. While there someone asked his mother how Stuart got the moniker Loose Bum. She started laughing and told us the tale of how she sent him to boarding school 4 year prior, when Stuart Loose Bum was 15. While he was there he provoked a bunch of the other boys and they sneak attacked him, beat him up and crammed a glass bottle up his rear end. The boys then smashed the bottle with a swift hit to the abdoment with a baseball bat. The damage to Stuart Loose Bums colon and anus was so extensive that he lost the ability to control his bowel movements for quite some time. During that time his mother started calling him loose bum and his peers started following suit. Stuart "Loose Bum" Rennie died of a meth overdose 7 years ago. You can look up his obit. His son is now a fenti addict. 😮 Don't be a Stuart Loose Bum. His life was without worth and his mother recognized the fact long before anyone else.

First story reminds me of a time I found a little old lady wandering. She'd caught a bus from her house to a major transport hub. Had the choice of trains, buses and ferries but wandered round the corner to my bus stop. It was a weekend, I was up much earlier than normal that morning and decided to catch a bus to the beach. In talking to her something seemed a little off but she was friendly. Then she mentioned she was looking for her mummy and older sister. After some questions it came out she thought she was 7. Later found out she'd gotten out of her son's home as the latch on the gate had broken, caught a bus. I found her just wandering around the city 50 minutes from home. Ended up shouting her breakfast in the cafe next to the police station while they tried to locate her family. The cafe staff were wonderful and didn't mind us sitting there for three hours until her son was located and arrived to pick her up.

The first story triggered memories of similar experiences I had with my grandfather. He was a farmer and lived out in the country all his life. My grandmother was more or less disabled from a car accident in her 40s that broke her back so it made getting around hard for her. At that point, he had lost his ability to talk but could not only still walk but was very active and would roam. I tend to think it was from years of conditioning of checking on his crops and rain gauges. Occasionally he would manage to sneak out of the house. One summer I had come to visit and he managed to get through a door unnoticed in the morning. We searched for hours in sorching heat in woods, brush, and along the road. We were frantic to find him because it was so hot and thought he would surely die of heat stroke. We looked all day long, didn't eat, didn't rest. It was late afternoon before my uncles found him by their house in the bushes trying to stay in the shade soaked in sweat and blisters on his skin from being sunburnt. We got him the aid he needed then and he fully recovered. My heart goes out to this family and it breaks because I know that pain of watching someone you hold so dear and idolize fade away, bit by bit. Getting confused, mixing up words, giving up mid-sentence, not recognizing places, then friends, then family. The converstations just goes away little by little, then there's no talking, just grunts of frustration. Can't walk, can't use the restroom, can't bathe, can't understand life around you. After a decade of being forced to accept new normals, death is just bittersweet. The suffering is over for him and for us. But I was blessed to know him, for the lessons, for the company, for the days of playing tennis. I pray for those of you have had or will have to experience this disease. Cherish who you have, value that time, you don't know how precious it is until you can't.

It's crazy that the cars actually film anything. It makes me wonder what I have missed that was on my dash cam. The other morning at like 4 a.m. there was a dog or coydog running across the Fremont freeway bridge in Portland when it was frozen. It was staying in the shoulder and everything. I know I got a little bit of the dog on video lol. That bridge is insane and it's totally crazy to have a dog run across on its own. Anyway the odds of the street view car getting these are so crazy

@@adam_19855I'm trying to tell this story to as many people as I can because I feel it's an import moral When I was a 14 year old lad I went with a group of friends to a guy named Stuart "loose bum" Rennie's house.

I took care of a lady who was in her 90s and had Alzheimer’s. She would wake up in the middle of the night and if I didn’t wake up she would just walk for blocks. It was really sad because she kept telling me she was looking for her parents and I wasn’t sure if it would help or hurt to tell her they are dead over and over again. I finally just kept telling her they were gonna pick her up in the morning, knowing she wouldn’t remember in the morning. She also would get very violent at the end, hit/push me and scream that she hates me. I knew she didn’t mean it but it still hurt. I knew she was gonna die the night she did because while I was getting her ready for bed she told me “papa is here to get me, how much longer do I have to wait til I can go with him?” I told her in the morning she could go with him and that night she died in her sleep at 5a.m. Right when the light was coming in the window. Her daddy came to get her and she was ready to go.

One of the creepy parts about the car in the pond was that apparently some people who lived around the pond had called the police several times over two years to report a trespassing old man soaked head to toe wandering around the pond late at night and thought he was late night swimming or something but whenever police showed up they never would find anyone.

Regarding the last one, I guarantee the police didn’t even bother looking into it, often in the UK if a stolen vehicle is insured they won’t even bother looking for it, the sentencing for car thieves in the UK will be like a 6 month suspended sentence or something too so basically no deterrent
