Alright, I have to admit, this was an effective way to promote the Kickstarter. I want to see all of these and now feel a more concrete motivation to contribute.

Dance of the Vampires definitely seems like a good example for " If it ain't broken, don't fix it" It's still thriving here in Germany ( they even filled out the piece with the red boots at the turn of act one/act two and turned that into an awesome ensemble piece). 😊

So excited for An American Idiot documentary from you! You do such a great job with your videos. I adore JGJ and Stark Sands. Plus, they’re working together again with director Michael Mayer in Swept Away.

Not sure if you would’ve seen this but Ryan McCartan recently alleged some interesting details of his involvement with Heathers. It’s on his YT channel but it basically involves him being promised the role in the film adaptation, which is the only reason he did Off-Broadway, only for that to never happen.

Super stoked to one day see all of these musicals get the spotlight in a video, but I must offer a show that I wish more people talked about: Jekyll and Hyde. Alternatively, the musicals of Frank Wildhorn, because despite their flaws and their lack of success, they have a lot of passion and charm to them that I wish more people could see. X3

A genuine documentary about turn off the dark, like actually talking to individuals apart of the project would be amazing. That in general is what I’m dying to hear more about! Creatives apart of the process giving a sense of what it was like in the moment.

They should always film Broadway shows just before opening. That way, if it flops, they can sell it to TV or theatrically overseas, and make their money back. (Just because not enough people are in the mood to pay to see it live, they're more likely to give it a chance in their living rooms.) If the show's a hit, so much the better: you have a class-A recording that will put the bootleggers out of business. The rationale for not doing this used to be that it would be too much competition for the stage show, which has been long since disproven. You can see the original cast of "Hamilton" for free if you know where to look, or legitimately on streaming, but people still fight to get tickets to see it live as well.

I won't lie, even though I'm already pitched in deep to the KS, if you ran one JUST for Nerds & Dance of the Vampires, I'd find excuses to shove as much dosh as I could into them. Those two NEED their documentaries.

I don’t normally comment on KZbin videos but as someone who’s enjoyed your documentaries immensely I have to ask, since you’re going to cover “Dance of the Vampires”, could you also cover the musical “Lestat” from 2005? It’s a show that had so much going for it: - it was an adaptation of Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Lestat”, with a little bit of “Interview with the Vampire” added in - the music and lyrics were by Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin - the lead role was played by Hugh Panaro, a Broadway “Phantom” himself - the pre-Broadway San Francisco run beat the pre-Broadway box office record held by “Wicked” It went through changes between San Francisco and New York, where it opened on Broadway and closed within a matter of months. Allegedly, an Original Cast Recording was completed but it hasn’t ever seen the light of day. It’s an interesting story that I’d love to see get your Wait in the Wings treatment as “Lestat” was one of the first musicals I ever got hyped about from a fan perspective, reading each announcement about its development as they would come. In some ways, I think “Lestat” might just be my “Rebecca”. 😝 Keep up the great work!

I was just ranting to my friends about Dance of the Vampires yesterday. I would absolutely love to see you do a deep dive on that show because I have so many strong feelings about it. So glad to see the kickstarter is already past its initial goal! Hope it continues to do well!

The Heathers backstory would be interesting. Press coverage of producers messing with actors' other commitments when the show became popular. The authors announced amateur rights availability in the middle of talk about a Broadway transfer was odd. There was definitely off stage drama

Oh, I cannot wait for the full versions of these documentaries. But I am curious, what is a musical you want to see made, that hasn't been? You could base it from any other source, it just can't be a preexisting musical. And who would you want to see in the creative team to translate it to the stage?

I already got very excited seeing Billie Joe in the thumbnail as a longtime Green Day fan that's familiar with American Idiot because of my love for the band and the Broadway Idiot documentary (which if you haven't seen yet I HIGHLY recommend) but then on top of that you mentioned Chess! Easily my favourite niche musical pseudo trainwreck pseudo success. I humbly request if you cover it you go over more than just the 80s concept album and Broadway rewrite, but also the 2008 concert version with Josh Groban, Adam Pascal and Idina Menzel (And Chess pa Svenska, the Swedish rewrite staring the original Anatoly, Tommy Körberg!)
@lomion795 ай бұрын
I hate to be pedantic but ... "Chess" is pop not rock and roll and was not Tim Rice's first show post-Lloyd Webber. That honour goes to "Blondel" which had a score composed by Stephen Oliver.

soooooooooooooooooooooooooooono broadway showoooooooooooooooooooo................ long time listener, first time caller. i have a question. why havent you done a Cats Broadway vid? i saw the movie review but nothing about the play. does it suck? boring? did you already make one and i missed the vid? i figured it lasted 20 years so it must be somewhay an ok show. reason i sask is as a kid who grew up in the bronx we were bombarded by ads on tv for the show in the wintergarden theatre. and was always curious. thx great channel ps iv only ever seen one show on broadway so i live vicariously through you guys. it was jersey boys btw
@one-onessadhalf33932 ай бұрын
Cats the movie is actual garbage, but Cats the musical is really hit or miss. It’s an Andrew Lloyd Webber show from the eighties, so it’s heavy on style but *very* light on substance. I like it, but a whole ton of people hate it, and I can totally see why.
