I find it odd that pineapples have come to mean this because pineapples are symbols of the hospitality industry. You will often see pineapple pins on the lapels of hotel workers. In the past pineapples where extremely expensive and would only be served at the swankiest events leading to it being the symbol of luxury and... as I said hospitality. It is still used in the industry. So how did it get this tawdry use?

@@LPAdams1001 I distinctly remember one solo that was more than obnoxious, on a cruise, the others were dodging him and were surprised I could guess who he was. As for the other venues, nope: the square dancers don’t care to do much more than dance and the movie theaters don’t leave too much time for it. Years ago, on a greyhound bus across the south, single, there was a passenger that was trying to basically assault me! Past that I travelled for my job and got quite good at setting boundaries. The one I remember most was in the secretary’s office. I’d move a couple of times and finally said, Wayne if you can’t figure out what to do with your hands, put them in your pockets! From the secretary’s expression she clearly had a similar problem. I was an expat in Indonesia. We were warned not to travel alone because many had the impression that the Hollywood movies reflected reality, at least for women. On cruises we regularly invited solos, at least for the meal, to join us etc. I’m just used to cruise atmospheres where solos feel safe and don’t put up with such nonsense.

Maybe on land excursions ... maybe ... but you'd think probably not on cruiseships. Am I wrong? If it does exist, might be worth a video with other "questionable" activities that happen on cruises.

18 is the age in most parts of the world. Australia, many places (but not all) in Asia, NZ , Pacific, Europe. Apart from the ME where in many places it’s banned outside of 5star hotels I can’t think apart from the USA and Caribbean where it’s 21. But I’ve just checked, there are places in the USA where it’s 18 for some alcoholic drinks.

I have been on a couple of Chumley Bear Cruises, but it was a group of 500 on a ship of 2500. Our first meet up was mandatory where everyone was told to be respectful and limit any PDA, and keep things in the privacy of your room if that was your choice. It was more of a camaraderie group. What I wanted to mention was that on each Cruise there were people who were kicked out of our group and also kicked off the ship. One guy was drunk 24/7 which got him kicked off our group. When returning to the ship in Cozumel, he flashed some crew members at the dock and was kicked off at that port. And good riddance.
