Cruise lines are a mega rip off , they use many small print , never mentioned issues to cancel peoples bookings , & then keep all monies from people , It is fine if they refuse you to board & take the cruise if they feel that you are not suitable , But it is Pure Fraud & theft to keep all the money that people have paid for a service that the cruise line have not provided , It is simply fat cat board members deciding to take people money and not refund it , by claiming the refused party did not follow thier rules , Total corruption by grifter money grabbing managers no True or legitimate grounds to not refund peoples money ,

These issues apply to anyone ....not just those who cruise, which is the impression you give

Very helpful video, thank you! Not sure how many of your followers would be affected by this, but I recently "purchased" land in Scotland and received a Ladyship signed by King Charles III. When I renew my passport this year I'm tempted to add "Lady" to my name, but now wonder if I will need to also change my U.S. drivers license name to match. Do you or your followers have any thoughts on this?

We sailed for 10 days on Azamara around Italy just recently in April 2024. It was absolutely wonderful now. Food, ambience, accommodations, and port excursions were ideal and the smaller number of passengers made for a lovely and uncrowded experience that felt quite luxurious. No kids, no casinos, no commotion...but plenty of beautiful experiences.

US immigration lawyer here. ESTA is not a visa. ESTA is a preclearance system for those wishing to enter on the Visa Waiver Program, i.e. those who are eligible to enter the US without a visa. So, you would get an ESTA preclearance. You would not get an ESTA visa. Note: Canadians do not enter the US on the Visa Waiver Program. Canadians are special and can enter the US without a visa (for short visits), but are not subject to the restrictions of the Visa Waiver Program.
@LaurelsChannel4 сағат бұрын
And a follow-up on that - you don't enter the US "on ESTA". You enter on VWP (Visa Waiver Program).

Expensive, full of requirements and bureaucracy. Treated like cattle. Every port dangerous, and everywhere scammed and victimized. I have to ask "just how STUPID are cruisers"?

Booking excursions direct: Yes! It's so much cheaper, and you often get a smaller group. However! If the excursion gets overbooked, they will drop direct bookings before they drop cruise bookings, even if the direct booking was done first. We had that happen for a dog sled excursion in Alaska.

All very good to know. It's gotten so that I don't even go on most domestic trips without my passport (I'm American) because of all the delays about Real ID and what's required to travel interstate. It's been almost 25 years since 9/11 so we should all know about needing passports for travel to Canada and cruises including Mexico and the Caribbean. That being said, the upcoming EU visa requirement is just uncalled for. I have relatives on the continent and considering that the EU masters seem to have a vested interest in porous borders, just like a certain party here does, it seems more than a little hypocritical.

I get the 1 formal night and I know how to dress well during the summer. I’m going on a first time cruise and I’ll bring a linen suit and linen blazer that I’ll wear w dark jeans but after that I’m dressing nice and casual. This is a vacation not a board room meeting or interview

The idea to travel with your original birth certificate is so crazy to me. It’s so much harder to get this again than a new passport or ID if you lose it. My birth certificate is and will not leave my parents bank safe until I get my own or they die.

One of my mates just did this trip, only he went from Perth to Sydney…. Apparently the way this video went is the ideal way to go. Not Perth-Sydney. As the poster said it’s very clanky and rough going through the mountains. ESPECIALLY if you want to sleep. Mate was Gold class as well which he said was fairly cramped. Thanks for posting. Cheers

Sorry, Gary, but while we love your channel and expert advice, we have to disagree regarding your dismissive take on Virgin Voyages for those looking for a truly adults-only experience! We would *absolutely* recommend them for those cruisers who want to travel without children on the ship. While YES, there are plenty of opportunities for partying and lots of nightlife, our experience after THREE cruises with them this year alone is that maybe 18 hours of every day is very "chill" and laid-back, and as active cruisers in our 50's, we couldn't be happier with the dining, activies, and overall experience with the crew and ship. Do you need to have a bit of an open mind in terms of the cruisers (who we've really enjoyed meeting) and cruise staff (who have all been wonderful)? YES. But we simply cannot justify the price for a line like HAL just to have lower-quality food, sub-par entertainment and general vibe...all of which Virgin *excels* at in our opinion, esp. at their price point. For those on the fence about trying Virgin Voyages vs. other "premium-mainstream" lines, please consider them for at least one cruise. (Note we have no affiliation with them whatsoever, other than having become diehard fans!)

The airlines let the computer decide if you have enough time to board a connecting flight. I always got left behind because the computer was wrong. I told the airlines after 3 episodes and they told me the computer was always correct. I stopped flying that stretch and taking a bus. I absolutely refuse to fly on any US carrier. Instead once I arrive at the hub I fly on a foreign carrier.

Packing for my first cruise shortly ... I decided to cut down on clothes packing by avoiding formal nights. Also, no camera, tablet computer rather than laptop (I'm on holiday, not at work!). At one point I thought of getting a bigger suitcase but that would just be heavier and take up more space.

I wasn't denied boarding but kicked off before the Royal Caribbeanl ship sailed. Why? Because the strobe lights in the corridor during the lifeboat drill gave me a migraine. They tried to tell me I was having a stroke and had to go to the ER. They unloaded both my luggage and my husband's and dumped it on the dock. They also said we could rejoin the ship at Cozumel, but they confiscated our shipcards. We never got a refund because we "voluntarily left the ship." So cruisers, never tell ship personnel that you're having a headache or upset stomach or anything else that they can blow up into an emergency.
