I think F Waboso still has a lot to learn. Watching the Glaws/Exeter game, he showed a tendency to always look for contact and bulldoze his way to the try line. He needs to look for two on ones and in / outs more often and mix up his game.

Which Smith? Finn or Marcus? Because I can't imagine Finn starts either NZ game, and may not make the bench for either. Marcus Smith has been in and out, played in strange positions, worked under Jones when he wanted him to run the most technically advanced attack in rugby history (which is why it was largely shambolic - the experiment failed). But in all those years he has proven that he is an out and out game winner. And of course we can't forget that Ford had a good 6 nations, and could easily be at the next World Cup. I think for 10 as much as any other position, being part of a great team (like Saints are this season) doesn't guarantee you any international rugby. I imagine Ford starts with Marcus on the bench - hopefully Finn getting some time against Japan at least.

Totally agree with Ted Hill one of my favourite players. He's not only a great tackler, his line-out is very solid and he's also a very very good ball carrier. Great off loading and really fast (Hodge and Weyboso chased him for 40m and couldn't get near him). Baxter instead of Marler for sure, especially now that Genge seems to have gone up a level at scrum. Against Ireland and France was very solid, pretty sure he didn't gave a penalty away and won a couple. SA will be his final test. Missed your videos, keep them coming

Huge fan of Ted Hill. Real line-out jumper, a huge work ethic, does a lot of work in the tight, does a lot of defensive work, and has pace. Him and Cunningham South as the options at 6, offering something different. Him and George Martin are absolute bangers. Playing them both will give England the base to get the most out of Ben Earle, Theo Dan, allow the 7 to track the ball and pick opportunities to steal it, slow it down. It feels like the right balance, because he's the type of player that does the scruffy work, that is needed to allow others to play with more pace, or be more open.
@secondchance449822 күн бұрын
No points for guessing who I support. Bev Rodd not mentioned. Only thing that's kept him out of the ENG team was a toe injury...He's now back and firing. You mentioned a young prop (cant spell his name), but no mention of Asher (Sale) who has given Andrew Porter and Joe Marler a lesson in going backwards. No mention of Raffi Quirke. He has been injured, yet was still called up by ENG to spend time with the team while recovering. Finally, Tom Roebuck. He's recently played against IFW and Cadan Murley and was far the better on those given days... He's an 'international' style player. Big, powerful, can finish strong, works off his wing and has one of the best (if not the best) kick chase's in the prem. Thanks for the vid, Chris.
@mjgclutch21 күн бұрын
Roebuck didn’t do much against Quins. Murley scored 2 tries. Asher started well but he’s struggled a bit of late in the scrum. He’s younger than Baxter. Not quite ready yet. I’d select Rafi as he’s the best bench option we have but he’s not ready to start ahead of Warr at the moment so still a way to go in terms of game management. Rodd should go ahead of Obano if we take Baxter.

Ollie Sleightholme is impossible to ignore. Would take him over Daly in a heartbeat. Asher Opoku-Fourdjour in the front row, need to get him in there ahead of the likes of Cole and Marler. First off, I’m so glad you mentioned Trevor Davison Tim. A no nonsense scrummaging tighthead. I’d also throw Ehren Painter into the mix. Rus Tuima should go I think. He offers something completely different to any other second row. He’d be a great impact sun for Martin. Also, the token Radwan vote. Whilst other wingers are getting that exposure in the champions cup, he’s feeding off scraps in a dire Newcastle team. But he is dynamite. His pace alone would frighten an opposition. There is always the chance that the international game proves too much for him, but chuck I’m in and see.

@@EggchasersRugby I think Hill ticks more of the boxes than Roots does so would be worth giving him a go. The difficulty for him is that the Itoje, Martin, Chessum combination balances so well that any 6 putting their hand up for selection needs to be able to do everything Chessum does otherwise they will only have a bit part role. If Hill can be a second row option internationally then he a real contender. I'm not sure England really have a Meafou type player demanding selection to warrant that mode of selection either. If England pick Itoje, Martin, Chessum and Tuima as the only second row options in the summer then you might be on to something.

I'd invite Marler & Cole to go with England in a coaching capacity to mentor their replacements.
@argy814118 күн бұрын
Marler really doesn't like being away from home, hence his previous retirements.

Love saying who you would drop. People always say Mercer/Barbeary has to go. But for who? Our back row is stacked right now. Id maybe go JVP and Randell instead of Care and Spencer. Harsh on the latter, I know. And maybe Ollie S instead of Daly. Think Roebuck covers the Freeman type winger and Ollie S as back up to IFW. Love Murley too though. Although that's harsh on Daly, he's a classy player who covers a lot of positions and may be our second best FB. Pretty useful on a tough tour.

I wouldn't take either Mercer or Barbeary, Mercer looks good every now and again but I've never seen enough consistent performance to warrant him replacing our other back row. I'm not a fan of Barbeary either, I see him as a walking yellow/red card. His USP is being a bowling ball, which works at club rugby, I'm not sure he is big enough to do that at international level. Therefore I would prefer the better balanced abilities of the other back row options we have.
@JohnRidley1218 күн бұрын
@@argy8141 agree on both. If Barbeary starts dominating Too 14 packs I'll change my tune. But he doesn't offer what others do, in my mind

I’d want to take Asher Opoku-Fordjour as a tight head option. Will Evans because he’s brilliant. Will Porter because he deserves a crack. And finally, Lennox Anyanwu because he could be a hell of a 12 and we need to develop some home grown talent in that position.
@kezcunliffe403521 күн бұрын
Do you think he will be first choice at Quins next season? I like the look of him but he has been stuck in Andres shadow
@argy814118 күн бұрын
@@kezcunliffe4035 Anyanwu has hands like cow udders. if he could catch and hold onto the ball he might fit, I think he needs to step up quickly or he'll be gone from Quins. I suspect like Lawrence he is too focussed on the upcoming contact to be able to complete the catch.

Ted Hill has got good pace. I'm a big Feyi-Waboso fan, but he couldn't catch Hill a couple of weeks ago. Add Hill with Martin, Cunningham-South, Earl, Pearson, Curry, starts to look like a good bunch of forwards

I have a feeling Barbeary is all wind and you know what. He's not that big, he tries the hard man act too much and strikes me as a bit headstrong and immature. Tom Willis would be a better choice. (IMO)
