@@GeneralErlend There are no hazards and the transitions have warnings. It's not without some jank but it's stayed a counterpick stage for a reason. Plus even with it's more questionable aspects, it's hard to argue the stage hasn't led to some hype as hell moments.
@GeneralErlend6 жыл бұрын
@@reNINTENDO I definitely agree that it has had hype moments, but I still technically don't see a reason why it should be a legal stage. It favors Fox heavily in both PAL and especially in NTSC for one, and even with the warnings it more often than not goes down to a grinding halt during transitions, where no player wants to commit on offense, thus both just stand there camping and poking. It doesn't have hazards like Brinstar (except the occasional glitch) and such, so there is a valid argument there going for keeping stadium. Other than that, I think the arguments against it are more favorable than for keeping it. Just my opinion though.

Melee is my favourite game by far, I'm low-level but as a former high-level athlete, have been dying to know - given the lesser component of (aerobic & anaerobic) physicality in esports VS more fitness-based sports, I would've guessed that career longevity in melee (and I guess many esports) would be long, more like I don't know poker than say MotoGP. What is the main reason most of these 'old-school' greats ( e.g. PC, Ken, KDJ, Azen) have dropped away from the top level? Is it mainly hard for them to retool some outdated approach or skillset - if so, what specifically? Is it mainly that indeed they're past their prime of physical stress endurance and motorskill/reactions? Or is it despite still being physically capable, they're mentally burned out in terms of drive? (If so, could they have been just as good as the current best if they had started later, around the same time e.g. as big six?) I am so so curious to hear experienced insights. Thanks and much respect!
@lipsticklicker45785 жыл бұрын
as you get older when you play a game as fast paced as melee, your reflexes start to become stagnant and you start falling from your peak, just like any athlete would. this shit puts a lot of stress on you in general and seeing these people back after 20 years is crazy
@PKWinning075 жыл бұрын
Super interesting topic! Gets brought up a lot during discussions of "best players of all time", there are a few factors involved with it. Basically the level of play advances a pretty significant amount every year at every level of play because of new meta developments, and new training mods (e.g. 20XX and UnclePunch) help new players learn and practice techniques at a rate and efficiency way beyond anything the game has seen before. Newer players are basically able to learn things "right" the first time giving them a headstart, and the sheer number of players we have now compared to back then makes placing in top 32 nowadays probably harder than placing top 8 back then. Players who take a break (or chose not to continue adapting and labbing) have neither the advantage of veterans who have consistently pushed and followed the meta over time, nor do they have the advantage of players like Zain who have started with clean technique and no habits leftover from older metas.
@aspiknf Жыл бұрын
@@lipsticklicker4578 Lipsticklicker is right. Ken, for example, had carpal tunnel syndrome so he gets pain nowadays when he plays. Plus when you retire for a while, like Ken, the metagame evolves quickly so he has had to adapt to the new metagame. Plus he perhaps doesn't have enough drive anymore...same with a lot of the oldschool greats like Azen, ChillenDude, PC Chris, ChuDat. The competition also gets better as years go by. But they are still top 100, maybe all top 50.
