Bought a durango srt, which has benefits both worlds of power and utility usage. Sure could of gotten a dodge hellcat for me or at least jeep track hawk at least, but would it fit my 4 kids? So durango was my best bet for a fun car and a lot more cargo room, plus my kids. Though one day when kids are grown and out about doing their own things, I think the hell cat has more than enough power and fun for personal use. Should be cheaper by that time lol. Good review! 😎👍

I could not justify buying a demon myself, the mark up was too high. Also, the idea of not being able to drive it to avoid putting miles for resale value was just bad. Good video, good choice. What is your take on a viper though?

Ghern Garage considering the Viper is actually out of production since 2017 and likely won’t return in any iteration I’d say it has a much better chance at being a true collectors car. The production in 2017 was less than 700. So it makes sense the prices are high on those. And I think that is the perfect example of why the Demon is so artificially inflated. The demon may be numbered but another 3300 Redeye clones were pumped out right behind it and will continue in 2020. If the Demon was the last year of the challengers entirely then it would totally justify the inflated pricing. No doubt it’s a really cool car but just not worth the insane prices the speculators are asking. And the funny thing is that the Vipers weren’t selling well so that’s why dodge stopped making them. This is the perfect setup for a jump in prices actually since fans will feel like it’s their last chance ever. Challenger owners don’t have that issue. They sell as fast as their pumped out. While that’s great for dodge, it’s not good for the greedy speculators. The Challengers and Chargers in every model are the “every man” car and that’s what makes them so spectacular. There’s a model for every man or woman who wants one. It’s almost religious which is why the clowns who snatched them up to resell at a profit won’t be able to for long. It’s downright sacreligious what they’ve done. These cars were made for the hardworking man to reconnect with his inner teenage self at any age or walk of life. It brings people together. Trying to price it just for the rich was against the religion. And even the rich (which the country would define me as strangely) want nothing to do with it if it means they have to leave the roots of what the car stands for. The Demon is worth $85k and will likely not be worth more than that in my lifetime. And for good reason. Sorry for my rant. Lol

Your points of not buying a Demon are spot on. The Redeye is hands down the all around better car than the Demon when it comes to drivibility on the street. Dodge gave us a Demon powered Hellcat with the Redeye; basically the total package. Collectability of cars is something we don't know about until a lot of time has passed and like you said it's not looking good for Demons if that's why you bought one. When I think of collector cars I think of old cars like 1970 Cuda's or Challengers that they made 1 of 10 or 10 of 50 with rare options; not late model Demon Challengers that they made 3300 of with basically the same options as in the Redeye.

Most people don't know what a Demon is. When I'm out in mine people ask, is that a Hellcat? I tell them no it's a Demon, just like a Hellcat but faster! Lol! You made a mistake if you bought a Demon, Hellcat, Scat Pack and expect make money on it. I have 2300 miles on mine and don't drive it as much as I like. I split time with my '16 Scat Pack Shaker manual. Mostly drive my work truck all week. May trade my Scat in on a manual Hellcat though. I like manuals most. Have a wonderful day!

You should rerun the numbers in 2022! I am pretty happy with where I am at with my Demon and it gets driven. You are right the Redeye is almost the same, almost as fast, almost as special. But almost is not the same as. Correction, the Demon is not restricted to 160 mph. Only the tires were. The car can exceed 200 mph if needed with just a tire change.

Artificially overpriced by opportunistic greedy people who bought them just to gouge people. Thousands of these cars have been sitting sadly in garages because of this and now the market is flooded with them as the prices drop. It’s unfortunate as it is a spectacular car for the drag strip. Useless on the highway though.

Just pulled a car out of the shop which has been sitting for three years. Had two bad tires, so yeah, things go bad while sitting. However, I checked the date codes and they were 20 year old tires - so I don't think the problem was sitting for the last three years.

I agree. The Demon is wayyy overpriced. There is an F8 Green demon in my area and the guy that had it previously drove it everywhere. It’s listed in this video. It has 13K + miles on it and they are asking $127,000. With such a rare car with that many miles that asking price is ridiculous.

3 years/ 36k miles I believe is your basic warranty. Powertrain warranty i believe is 6 years/60k miles unless I'm wrong.

No you’re right. Never worried about the powertrain. It’s all the other stuff that breaks that bleeds out your wallet. Dodge is built well snd they know the powertrain won’t likely fail which is why that’s longer.

Most people in my area and I know in the midwest people are getting them for their prices. You have to also remember the base price was 85 fully optioned ive seen hit close to 100k. Now most of them are drag racing purpose built without a lot of extra options. People that are buying the demon either have the money to fix it or know how to fix it. The demon is not meant to be a collector car it is meant to be taken to the strip and then drive it home with no issues. It is sad people bought them just to rack up the price on them. The point of the demon was to be the first street factory sold car in the nines. It has proven its worth with the stats that follow it. IT IS NOT THE SAME ENGINE. Look up the build structure of the redeye engine it is much closer to the hellcat. The demon is built to take much more damage. Irl speaking terms the demon runs 9.5 on the stock nitto tires and the redeyes i have seen hit 10.2-3. On a tire the demon has run 9.3. At least that was the record the last I checked. With the brakes you are going to get around the same braking power. The difference you will see is the demon brakes are lighter and will see more brake fade. My entire point is, the demon is drag built. If you wanna race in a straight line go for it. If you want a better street car and adaptability go for the redeye.

One is ONLY meant for the drag strip and the other works on both. The markups on the Demon are overly inflated by speculators not enthusiasts. I have the money to buy one and I chose not to because the prices are dropping and there’s a flood of them for sale as the speculators try to get their money out of them. But smart buyers are just buying the Redeye for sticker or less and have a versatile car with better brakes and handling for the road. OCMotivator all the way from the valve train to the porting on the heads. The blower is the same. The pistons are slightly different as the demon has two mounting points and the redeye has one. All for oil squirters to cool the bottom of the piston head. The porting in the demon block for oil movement is much more defined and more work was put into it.( that obviously is not a structural difference but a production difference) the crank pulley on the demon has a key where the redeye does not. Therefore the crank is different. The redeye and standard hellcat/hellcat daytona run an abrasive strip similar to a clutch. The main bearings are also much better in the demon compared to the redeye. They are two very different engines with very different tuning. The demon will take much more abuse stock for stock compared to the redeye. The drivetrain is exactly the same though. The transmission is shared in the redeye and demon whereas the hellcat and hellcat daytona share a different trani.

Sak 20012019 so all that wonderful technical info and for a relatively small check I can take my Redeye to more horsepower than a Demon and have no concern for ruining the value of a collector car and I can drive my car on the street comfortably. I just don’t see a $40-50k difference in price value when I can easily mod my Redeye for a fraction of that and dance with or even beat a stick demon. I just think you’ve been sold a bill of goods on the demon. And I don’t think I or the thousands of reviews and articles saying the cars are mostly the same are going to change your mind. But nice breakdown. 👍

OCMotivator its whatever your needs are for. You can really buy a redeye and drop the difference in cash at that redeye and make it run 8s. You have to remember and this goes for the entire lineup at dodge. 6.1 hemi basically 5 years was the fastest. Then the 6.4 for another 5. Then the hellcat came out and crushed every expectation. Then the demon came out. In 2018 that was only car in dodges lineup to be crazy power street legal drag car like the 426 ‘cuda and challengers. The demon was that 426. They put the “basic demon engine” in the redeye. The 426 back in the day could be ordered in different formats. Well today the 6.2 hellcat, demon, redeye engines. Share the same basic platform with different parts and tunes. Dodge is repeating history. It worked for them before why wouldn’t it now mentality. The problem with all dodge vehicles when they are producing these cars is in less than five years the next best thing is obsolete because something else came out better. The redeye may be king of the street but give it two years kind of a deal. It is what it is and all we can do is appreciate the mopar brotherhood and enjoy cars. Ps. Love watching your vids. The redeye is a side grade on the demon, not an upgrade or downgrade, the engine makes less power purely because of the reduced airflow from the hellcat hood. The demon suspension is designed specifically to make it both streetable, and a car that you can take to the drag strip. The suspension is what makes the demon one of the best stock drag cars from the factory. Weight transfer is a huge thing in drag racing. For someone who runs at the strip constantly like demonology etc, the demon is amazing, for the average person, the redeye is probably the better choice

@@ocmotivator i agree, I hate people that artificially inflate prices just to gouge people later on, i just felt like you kind degraded the demons street ability just a little bit. Its like saying the widebody scat is better for the highway than the 1320 scat, the both drive the same down the highway at highway speeds. At the drag strip however, the demon and 1320 really show what they were designed to do. I love all the challengers and fully belive there is a spec for the challengers for everyone no matter your budget or what you want to do with it. Personally i love going to the drag strip, bit I will never be going for sponsorships etc so I'll settle for my 1320 scat pack, plenty of power when I want to hit the strip, and still super fun on my local backroads here in the northern midwest. Have thought about grabbing a widebody hellcat though, just love the looks of the widebody kit.

Ripcord03 cool. And no degrading here. Just facts. The Demon is not a street car. From the smaller brakes, slower top speed, loose suspension designed for traction off the line and horrible for handling, and the huge hood scoop that makes already bad gas mileage worse, it kinda stands to just reason that the Demon has one purpose where the Redeye is versatile and easily and cheaply modifiable to keep up with the Demon without having to worry about collectors value. And based on the ridiculous markups the greedy speculators are still asking, the Redeye is nearly $40-$50k less. I just think people need to get real about that cars pricing and purpose.

How is that disagreeing. I have no issue with people who bought them for sticker who love and drive them. My issue is that they’re not worth $120-$150,000 when you can get a Redeye for $85k with the same engine and trans and if you wanted to you could spend $5-10k and slap on a bunch more Hp and you’ve got better stopping power on the street due to the bigger brakes. For $89k that is completely worth it and at that price I’d probably have bought a demon too. The markups are what’s ruining the demon experience since the market is flooded with them right now. The market has spoken. People agree with me or there wouldn’t be so many sitting on the market for sale overpriced.
