@@bushguidebaz6540 Of course, in a Marvel's movie I want to be able to tell by looking at the background if I'm looking at Metropolis, Gotham or if the filmmakers saved money by shooting in NYC. Kidding, I agree with you and Henry Media Group, this focus (pun intended) on blurred backgrounds, whether it's in photography or in film is ridiculous.

I have the GH5s and the Z Cam 6k Super 35. I will probably get the GH6 went it comes out for the Image Stabilization. The GH series are excellent for film makers. People make way too big of a deal about shallow depth of field that Full Frame can get. Watch most of your favorite movies and take note how blurry the backgrounds are - they aren't that blurry. The Micro 4/3rds system is more than enough to get a cinema image.

So true mate! I had a GH5 then moved to the Sony A7III but wasn't happy to use gimbals all the time with the Sony, then I sold the Sony and purchased a second hand G9 with the Leica 12-60 for an excellent price! Yesterday went to a wedding just with the G9, the Leica 12-60 and some lenses without any gimbal.. I was a bit afraid at first, but man, I was just checking the images handheld at 25fps and gosh, image very smooth! I won't even need to apply stabilisation in post! GH5 and G9 are great cameras! Not only for doing professional stuff, but for travelling as well as the lenses are smaller which means be at a low profile, lightweight and easy to shoot and not miss anything as don't need to be setting it up in gimbal...

I got my GH4s 2nd hand, just around when the GH5 came out and always had the intention of getting a GH5 eventually. I've been using them on drones, but also for film and occasionally for pictures. Mostly shoot with a 5D Mk3, when it comes to pictures. Finally took the plunge and bought a GH5 brand new 2 or 3 weeks ago. In all honesty, especially when it comes to filming, the options for the GH5 are second to none. As you mentioned: it has a full size HDMI connector. But not only that, it comes with a bracket standard, that you screw in on the side of the camera and that holds your cables, thus preventing you from breaking stuff. Also, the XLR audio module is something, that you won't find for any other camera in that sort of form or shape. And well, with a Metabones Speedbooster (which I also ordered), I'll even be able to use my Canon optics on the GH5 (and my GH4s), giving me lots of options. So yes, I think the GH5 is still worth buying and will be so for at least another 5+ years. There is very little that comes near it's feature set ... especially at it's price level.

Great video, very informative. One thing to add, you can also create a shallow depth of field in post which ordinary audience can never be able to tell the difference so I really don't understand what the obsession is with this dop. Mostly must be by NOOBS who don't know what they are doing. They see a youtube video by an amateur and be told that it's cool. In a real Hollywood post production scenario, you want to maximum control in post. You can make any background blurry or just add more to it but you cannot unblur it without using advanced third party AI software. Even in that case, the result isn't guaranteed. The main reason why these cinematographers and famous film directors use these lenses isn't just because of a shallow dop. It's more because of the characteristics of a lens. The shape of the bokeh, the flare, the way it shows the image, the colors etc. That's what's most important in an image and that's something you cannot fake or replicate truly in post.

Best regards from Stockholm, Great presentation. I've begun to quit watching camera videos because I've grown so tired of hearing whats poor camera choice I made. I moved from a Canon HF-G10 camcorder to the GH5. Yes, the auto focus is problematic, but with the F3 button and the joystick, one can set focus quickly and I'm getting better and better at using that technique. To this day, I've yet to understand the problems with getting background blur with a GH5. In my state of blissful ignorance, I get it all the time. I didn't know that using Long GOP would slow down the computer, but it only seemed logical to me that from a quality standpoint, All I is what I've always used. I've rarely seen a more intelligent presentation! I'd like to see you do a teaching video on the wave form monitor. My 14 year old daughter fearlessly uses focus peaking and the F3 button, but my wife won't go near this camera! If you have time to make a presentation on how to adjust the auto focus, that would be great. It took me two years of "campaigning" to even get the camera. The only reason I was able to get it was because it was for sale in our town and I got it fir 850 usd!

That’s a great question! If I’m starting out with the Sirui anamorphic lens, I will go with the 24mm first because it is the widest for multiple purposes. Then I will go with the 50mm for the nice isolation and compression. I don’t think I will get the 35mm because it is too close to the 24mm and 50mm. Hope it helps! Thank you so much for your kind words and support on the video!

Nice review! I'm thinking of getting a GH5 as my Main camera and keep my Lumix G85 as b one. One question. I see your main camera is a Bmpcc 6k. Isn't it a full frame camera? Thanks!
@henrymediagroup3 жыл бұрын
Using the GH5 as the main camera and the G85 as B cam is a great idea! My main camera is now the BMPCC4K, also micro four third and I love this combination! Thank you so much for your kind words and support on the video!

@@henrymediagroup Thanks for answering! I mentioned FFF, because your Amazon link took me to the Bmpcc 6k. I was also considering the bmpcc 4k, but considering the investment to rig it up, I think the GH5 is a better bang for the buck. What would you recommend in my case. Go for the GH5 or the bmpcc? Thanks man. Have a nice Sunday!
@henrymediagroup3 жыл бұрын
O really? Thank you for letting me know! Yes, the GH5 is a more versatile camera compare to the BMPCC4K, but the BMPCC4K definitely gives you a more film quality image. If you are the camera operator most of the time, I would say definitely see if you can try out the BMPCC4K. We are making a similar is it worth it video for our BMPCC4K, hopefully it will help! Stay tuned! Thank you and have a nice day as well!

I have had the Gh5 for over 3 years now, been pretty good but still eyeballing the Sony a7s3 full frame, would love to have better low light and auto focus (for what I do it is important) not sure I want to put any more money into getting faster primes and or speed boosters etc. If I do I will still probably keep the GH5 as back up or b cam.

Started with a G80 that did all I needed. A year ago upgraded to the G9 and in december I bought a GH5 for 2.35:1 filming. All it brought were 2 silly dashed lines on the screen that you can hardly see so I still need that external monitor. So, to be honest, I like the G9 more because of the nicer EVF. Now I ordered a Sirui 35mm anamorphic for the GH5. I think that will be worth while.

@Whatsup_Abroad3 жыл бұрын
The phrase low light is relative..some people would call shooting indoors at all low light. For me low light is like a dimly lit bar at night. And with manual m43 f0.95 primes that type of lighting condition is totally fine with a gh5. You can easily keep the iso at 1600 or even lower. Still produces great results at those iso values. The gh5s is still great at iso 6400 or even 8000. So once they release a gh6 with ibis and a dual iso sensor where will the low light complaints be?
