I don't have that Vogue pattern but I think I would like to see a video on how to turn it into a robe all the same. :-) I was thinking which patterns I love and would recommend to others and the one that sprang to mind was Scroop Patterns Mahina Cardigan. I've only made it once so far but I'm definitely making more once I get some good natural fibre fabric for the purpose (my first one is 50% cotton 50% polyester and that's sadly a bit too much polyester for me; but I still love it). It has a unique sizing system, nice detailed instructions, and it's just such a fun and stylish yet pretty easy to sew garment - and it's one of those garments that can be taken in all sorts of directions with different fabrics.
@handmadeharriells2 жыл бұрын
great to hear some Scroop love, I’ve gazed at a few of their patterns! I always jones a cardigan pattern this time of year (when I’m tired of coats 😅)
@beth12svist2 жыл бұрын
@@handmadeharriells I struggled more with the Ngaio blouse which is still on the naughty pile... but that was largely because I'm very much between sizes and I decided to handsew it while stuck away from my machine and all my projects in the first lockdowns - not the best idea I've had, but I was going a bit crazy. :D In Scroop's favour, the patterns are very dutifully notched which actually helped me catch some mistakes in my inbetween-sizes handsewing-geared pattern cutting! I have a couple more and I need to get cracking on making them; it's one of the many things I didn't get around to in the past two years. I love how Leimomi puts in such details like which direction to sew the seams in, and various little tips and explanations that mean you may actually learn something while sewing. Not all the styles are something I can see myself wearing, but I still think in terms of commercial patterns that aren't Burda, Scroop is the most represented in my collection (followed by Itch to Stitch) - especially because so many of the other pattern companies these days keep churning out patterns for stretch knits which is kind of the opposite of the direction I want (and even need) to be taking my wardrobe!

Good morning, Marcy, the last year years I have been quilting, Now, I want to go back to sewing clothes. Since you can change a pattern, I attempted to change a pattern, too. Instead of making an A-line skirt with four pieces, I place both pieces on the fold, thought I measured right, but when I sewed the pieces, one piece was shorter than the other piece. What did I do wrong. Ut was Butterick pattern 6742. A simple pattern, just think I can change patterns like you change patterns. Thanks for any light you can shine on my dilemma.
@handmadeharriells Жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy, I wonder if there were multiple hem lines on the pattern pieces? Like, View a length, view b length? I’d double check that. The cutting lines for multiple sizes can also get hairy at the hemline, I generally cut along the bottom line even if it’s not the size I’m cutting. Also, when you place the a line on the fold, you might have to adjust for the curve of the hem, which is spread out over 2 pieces now instead of 4. I hope that helps, it’s a little tough without seeing the actual pattern pieces! My best advice when doing a hack like this is give yourself insurance at the hem. You can always level the hem when you’re done sewing! 💗
