@cmartin70523 жыл бұрын
As a man, this was very insightful. Women don't talk like this with people who they start dating. Then you're in a relationship caught off guard when there are problems. Partner doesn't know about past self misconceptions about sex and self-pleasure as well as trauma from being assaulted/raped. I think this is why relationships don't work many times. People have so much mental trauma and don't realize that hurts the relationships they form.

What do you gain by being dismissive of my human experience because you didn't feel that way so much you can't even imagine that it might have been an intentional creative decision. That when someone literally makes it their profession to capture people in a portrait photography-esque setting that they may choose lighting and angles that help portray the essence of what a real human being looks like.. Pornography sets a bad idea of sex in young people mind, making them think of sex as a competition rather than a moment of sharing, and the problem is that sex education in school is just plainly bad if not completely unexistent, so most of the people(especially non straight) learn about sex through porn, which is bad

a lot of people experience sexual education through porn, and it isn't correct because all they show in porn is the actual actions and orgasm. they don't show the prep, the cleaning that takes place, or the consent for different situations. and it also shows a gross brutalization of women specifically, and the fetishization of different sexual identities as if they aren't actual people and just there for entertainment. thank you for bringing this up! specifically, a lot of LGBT+ youth find their exploration is through porn and they aren't taught any differently.

Rape is something I just can’t take. Like I’ve heard women I’ve talked with talk about their experiences with it and it’s just honestly seems worse than murder for some reason in my head. To think that happens in the world makes me want to do anything I possibly can to prevent it in the future. I think I’d sell my soul to stop it Edit: I was really venting and didn’t think this comment would blow up. Of course I know that murder is horrible and I really understand it’s something that is unbelievably prevalent that needs changed also. It also happens to be something that I feel equally in regard to anyone. I didn’t mean that rape is worse but to act like rape and prevention pales in importance nowadays is wrong and some people just don’t know. The world just plain needs changed for the better. Also know I can’t cover my entire thought process and what I said in passion of the moment completely but I definitely welcome the discussion. It’s something that like murder, I think could be changed and prevented if there was more of a realistic proactive effort to promote that change. And not just for this context. Let’s just agree that rape and murder are incredibly horrible. In my opinion, it doesn’t fully need to be compared because they’re both things that affect people in unchangeable horrible ways

ok is no one gonna talk about the look on their faces and that silence when the question was about rape?
@Bellyndaakaeme3 жыл бұрын
It’s honestly sad that in our society this topic is so vital yet it is overlooked and very much so, there’s stigma surrounding it. Given that the person who was a victim of rape is often blamed. Man or woman, boy or girl. No one deserves to go through that and then be unable to get help because of how they’ll be viewed and what people will say. We need to do better. Sex crimes shouldn’t be quieted. Every victim deserves to be heard, not blamed and every culprit deserves to be punished and educated. We need to do better. This is an important topic. When that lady with black hair talked about coercion and having been a victim and not even knowing it back then. I felt for her. They don’t teach us these things. It’s sad to think that many may have normalized it.
@dylanwatt74613 жыл бұрын
@@Bellyndaakaeme Nowadays, the majority of people acknowledge rape and feel we should do something about silenced victims, however the perpetrators of the rape themselves are the ones shaming and blaming. People just need to do a better job raising their children. I'm male, but somewhat a feminist and in all honesty can see myself thinking differently and possibly even being a sexual offender had I not it jammed into my head the dangers of thoughts like those. The fact literally 1/3 women REPORTED being sexually assaulted in the u.s is horrible. And that's just those who reported it and aren't blocking it
@TheOtherAnne3 жыл бұрын
The study that reported this was pretty flawed though. The term assault was applied very lously (a nasty comment was grouped in the same category as physical assault) and the group was very "biased": not enough participants to equate this to the whole us and not everyone replied which means that there is a possibility that only the women with this experience replied. Ps: not to say that it doesn't happen or their experiences aren't valid, just that you don't have to be scared since the number 1/3 is not valid

@@TheOtherAnne that's fair. It's hard to find statistics that are actually unbiased at all. I do think they were attempting to be since a similar number of completed r*pe was apparent in men but yeah, it's not going to be 100% accurate by any means. However, since finding real statistics on something like this is hard to come by, another great source is just the people you're surrounded by. And at least for me, most women in my life have been at some point and I've heard the same from other women. Men I'm not at sure about because I don't have many in my life I could ask but they might be the same, too. And as long as we cannot feel safe, there's always a reason to fear. Fear is always justified for any situation, regardless of how outrageous it may seem
@TheOtherAnne3 жыл бұрын
@@ali8922 I was shocked as well when I heard the number, thats why I looked into it. But I may be biased as well in finding the number too high: I live in a small country which seems a lot safer, the reported stats say that most assault cases happen with close friends or family friends. I talked about it with the people around me and it is generally not a fear of theirs, we all feel safe in our social bubbles.

Assault is another thing that can be easily missed and disregarded as one’s fault. Not only for women, but for men too. In fact, a better name for sex is intimacy. And as a sexual drive is different for men and women, for me it use to be the way you feel now. I didn't need it as often as him, or I was really tired, or had my period, or whatever. He never really pushed me too much, because he loves and respects me, nor cheated on me, he was just getting sadder and sadder. At one point we had this conversation when he told me I make him feel unwanted, regected and wondering if I really want him or is there something wrong with him. He was honest, not just manipulating me. And because I really love him I decided to change and to accommodate to him more - as every woman in love would. At the beginning I felt like I'm doing it for his sake but in the process I started to enjoy it more and more myself. Fast forward to now I'm really happy I chose to compromise and really thankful for all the pleasure and orgasms I would have missed, cause it all improved both our bond and my wellbeing.

i see these rape "fantasies" online everywhere and they say they don't condone that type of abuse in real life but it still seems wrong because their content is triggering. i reported their content/them and they guilt tripped me, rape isn't something to "fantasize" about and putting that stuff out online without trigger warnings is just, sick. it's a sensitive subject and the fact that people look at women as objects and in that way is just emotionally saddening. sorry i had to let that out, whoever read this have a great day!!

After 24 years I finally gave it a chance with someone, I really wanted it, but it hurt so bad we could not go through with it til the end, I felt like some other things should have happened, and he made me feel so bad about the experience because he was not as careful, attentive and caring as I wanted someone to be. I feel so bad everytime I think about it and it will take me a lot to trust someone again due to my fear they will never prioritize my needs. 😓

Depends on the birth control you have. I wasn’t taking it and the guy that I have been with for 5yrs now got me pregnant because he decided not to use a condom. The second time I got pregnant, I was taking my Sprintec birth control pills and I became extremely overly stressed for 4 months. My overly stressed out hormones overrode my birth control and I became pregnant. I knew I was pregnant because the moment I took my next two pills they didn’t taste right and made me feel sick.

I think more people experience this than is talked about because so many people don’t know there’s a name for it. Of course if you think you might experience this or a similar condition, do your own research and talk to a doctor if possible! But I love that the show is spreading general awareness.

bruh i cried... I didn’t know this whole “coercion” thing was a thing. I was pressured by my ex to have sex, and for so long he would guilt trip me or get mad at me when I said no so eventually I said yes (YES i said no FREQUENTLY before finally admitting yes because I couldn’t take the mental war and verbal pressure he gave me anymore). Like, I knew something felt strange and wrong about the whole thing, but just couldn’t grasp my hand around the situation. I wish other people knew the signs and doesn’t have to go what me and the long brunette haired girl through.

It depends. If it's just persuasion that's not coercion. If there's threats/fear that's coercion. I say that because it's important to distinguish and not lump everything together. Either way, it sounds like a really bad experience :( things don't have to be r@pe to be bad experiences.
@yagadoobigidibobbibigabiga383 жыл бұрын
@@Luxembourgish coercion isn't dependent on evoking a fearful reaction. You can be coerced by just the idea of being tired of them asking or just getting mentally worn down to the point that you just want to keep them happy for the time being so they don't get mad or upset with you. You have no right to tell someone that they didn't get coerced. Just because they said yes in the end doesn't mean they actually wanted to, and consent is literally based on the idea of WANTING to. So yes, she did get coerced, and no, coercion doesn't mean you have to be afraid of saying no. I got coerced into oral sex by a family member when we were both very young (elementary school age), and all it took was them saying "please" and pulling me into the bed, and I was way too young to even know the whole "no is no, it's okay to say no" rule because I guess nobody could've seen it coming, but if I'd known it at that age, I wouldn't have, and I would've told my parents. I wasn't afraid of that family member, not even in the slightest, but you cannot tell me that wasn't coercion just because I didn't get threatened or wasn't afraid. Oh, and persuasion is coercion if the other person doesn't want to do it but does anyway. Don't make the mistake of invalidating other people's rape/molestation experiences.

Hello! I am also a bi woman. Not a virgin anymore but the person I "lost"(don't like saying lose cuz you don't lose anything if anything you GAIN experience) it to was my first relationship. They ended up leaving me but oh my that was honestly the best that could happen. Don't misunderstand that relationship was the most amazing experience of my life at that point. I think you shouldn't fear losing things in life because even if you'd lose someone you love you gain so much more! Even if you don't end up with your first person they teach you so much about what you want in a partner and yourself! However if it's still a big fear of yours to end up in a relationship that doesn't last then my biggest tip is be friends with them first and reaaally get to know them well and BE YOURSELF. Nothing holds better than a solid friendship before a relationship, just be sure that you aren't overlooking something about them because of love. That happens a lot! Remember you deserve to be treated well and the person you're with should deserve that too! If you have any questions I am open to try and help :)

Usually I'm hyper-focused on the 90% autistic unemployment rate (that is outrageous). But, you should ask autistic people about their sexual experiences or their virginity. This could get really dark. Trauma experiences might come up for men and women, maybe from childhood. I hate how no one in the autism space talks about male victims. Female victimization needs to be talked about, but it is so sexist that male victimization doesn't get talked about for autistic men. It's like "we're strong so that doesn't happen to us". That is so wrong. It does happen to us, and nobody talks about it. Misogynist, misandrist, I don't care what you call it, it is wrong.
