Things appear strange right now. the value of the US dollars is declining due to inflation, but is increasing in comparison to other currencies and commodities such as gold and real estate. People are flocking to the dollar because they believe it is safer. I'm worried the rising inflation will cause my $420,000 retirement fund will loose value. What else can we do with our money

In light of the ongoing global economic crisis, it is crucial for everyone to prioritize investing in diverse sources of income that are not strongly reliant on the government. This includes exploring opportunities in stocks, gold, silver, and digital currencies. Despite the challenging economic situation, it remains a favorable time to consider these investments.

Very true, I find myself lucky enough exposed to money management at an early age. Worked full time when I was 19, purchased first home at 28, fast forward time... I'm 50 now, got laid off March 2020 amidst lockdown, a blessing in disguise. At once, I consulted an advisor to stay afloat and with subsequent investments, I'm only 15% short of $1m as of today.

40 is not too late to start. My science career didn't start paying me a significant salary until I was in my late 30s. Until then I was getting $30k/yr. I took the advise of my guide who i mirror her model then it rocketed up to $100k/yr in my 40s. I started saving $1600 per month into my 401k. The trick to saving is to NOT grow your lifestyle to match your salary. I retired early in my mid 50s with close to a $2M net worth and over $1M invested. For safety, I did not dip into retirement savings and allowed it to continue to grow as I approached 60.

I'm 58 years old and within the past five years, I (finally) completed my bachelor's degree and completed a Master of Fine Arts degree in writing, as well. For those of us who live a minimalist lifestyle, that side hustle job working from home just might be enough work, and enough income, to sustain our lifestyle. I have a multimedia writing background (newspaper, magazine, radio show), but you've given me some new ideas, and new inspiration for other writing jobs. Thanks!

First of all, I am a student graduating soon and have been feeling lost as to what direction I should go as this chapter of my life closes, and finding your channel today has already sparked so much motivation and inspiration for my future, so for that I just want to say thank you! To limit this comment to just one takeaway is difficult but one idea that has been consistently highlighted for me recently is the idea that if you dedicate the time into developing a skill, it will reap benefits which has always felt daunting as I struggled to find something I felt intrinsically motivated enough to stick to; however, this video has shown me that if I just start and take consistent(even if small) efforts towards one of these endeavors it will pay off. My next step moving forward is going to be to research more deeply the ideas mentioned that peaked my interest!

I've learned that persistence really is key. For the past years, I've been watching about side hustles and started some courses but never actually finished them. I found it too draining especially that I'm studying medicine and our curriculum is quite packed that my day is spent in class. I end up choosing to take a break then go back to studying. I will be doing more research about how I can utilize my skills and decide on settling on one and then hone it before adding more. Personally, my key takeaways in the video were the concept of the J-curve and the task of writing as a side hustle. The idea of the J-curve stuck to me because it cemented the idea of a quote that I read, "trust the process", which literally means to trust the process and things will eventually go right for you. Another takeaway for me was writing as a side-hustle. I know personally that I'm not an adept writer however I do like to read occasionally, and sometimes I have ideas about things that I read and would write them for my own personal pleasure. Currently Im a high-school student graduating to college this year. Thank you for the video as it gave me many insights and inspirations about what to do next in this upcoming chapter in my life.

My key takeaway it’s that in one hand combine your personal inclinations, even passions I would say, with a way to make profit out of it. And this is a better way than to just sell all your resources into a not personal development job, that also works and it’s pretty straightforward to perceive the benefit (the salary) but still takes your vital energy away. Thanks for the content, truly enjoy it!

Hey Ali, I have to say you did a good job showing that it's something bigger than just a "hustle." It's the value you want to create and plant seeds for the long term because in the end we all want money to nudge all of us to become more secure in life. The biggest take away was not how this side hustle can make me a few dollars a month to save but what do I as a person can do something of value to contribute to other people's life. It's something I find interesting and something I wouldn't mind transitioning to if I considered it as a full time job. I'm happy that you set the intention of a side hustle as it being something that can enrich your life rather than it being something you have to endure.

I was a 1st year uni student studying graphic design but unfortunately had to drop out this year due to financial issues. I vowed to myself since to use my skills (or also work on new ones) to provide services and hopefully save up or at least not rely on my parents 100%. Been seeing your videos since i started high school and now i'm in uni, watching this makes me think how crazy it is that you still manage to say the right things to wake the hibernating motivation within me or just change my perspective on things. Somehow i find it amazing that a lot has changed since then but here i am writing this comment as quick as i can because i can't wait to start planning and get on with my projects.

The biggest takeaway for me is that a side hustle should be flexible and fun. This is a valid point: without fun and flexibility, a side hustle would be a second boring job, that takes away from my life, rather than enriches it. The video was long, but in my mind, it could be divided into two main sections: the kinds of side hustles, and then examples for each side hustle type. You gave good examples that illustrated the point. I like learning from real-world examples, so thanks!

Ali, you actually changed my life and that too for free. I am from India and your videos on studying and how to take notes really played a big part in landing a job in bank. I'm so grateful to you. I would like to be a content curator or research assistant because I think I would be really good at that because I love reading and consuming insightful content. It is quite entertaining to me and doesn't feel like work. The only thing I need to learn now is how to curate content because I'm already consuming great content, I mean content related to growth, history, science, arts, etc. Thank you again and I recommend your channel to whoever is close to me and in my age group or younger than me. ❤

The company where i work started terminating employees and got me realized that i need another income aside from the one i got now. I then stumble upon your video giving me the information and insights for me to do research, to list down what i can do/provide, what skills that i need, what do i have that i can utilize, etc. For me, this video is like a nudge “go and do it!”, so thank you for that.

I personally liked your philosophy on side hustles, where it's not being ungrateful but the freedom that comes with it. My main takeaway to starting side hustles is deciding which business type (J-curve /not) we are comfortable with, and then working hard on improving a skill of interest before monetising it. All while being aware that it takes time.

Personally, the part about webdesigner really resonated with me. Especially because I've always been interested in coding and webside building but never took the time to learn the skills. I guess, coding just seems intimidating. But I think it will be a great hobby to take up in 2024 and hopefully something I can then later turn into a side income as a student who could very much use the financial breathing room.

I am a self-taught web designer and I learned the entire HTML code from one of my mother's computer books in less than a month. I now have my own tech company and have designed many sites in the past. Like anything else it just takes study and practice. Good luck.

As someone who has worked in biology labs all my academic years, I thought a research assistant can work only in labs. I didn't know or realize authors also need research assistant. My take away and action point is improving my already existing researching skills and make money by being a research assistant for an author or write my own articles. By the end of this video I got a topic to write online related to research. Your videos are always inspirational and very informative. Thank you! ❤

I am in mid-30s and the ideas around curating and web designing are the ones that caught my attention. I feel i am naturally good at curating but need a way to "streamline" it. Thank you for sharing these ideas

My takeaway was that there are so many sidehustle opportunities out there. I never even thought of thumbnail design before as a job. It's very cool how you can be self-taught these days and find opportunities like that, but I'm glad you emphasised that it takes a lot of work to earn a decent amount of money. Great video as always

Action point. Honestly planning and organizing an online shop for prints and Tshirts. Getting back into graphic design again. It's been on pause for years but it's something I can passively return to and apply just general art practice to again.

Thanks, Ali! I love your videos and I take notes for almost every video. One of the points I noted was the quote "You make money when you provide value to people who are delighted topay for what that value" I found this quote very helpful in explaining the laws of business.

Hi, film student here. I watched this video mainly to understand how people use their skill sets to generate income without employers, and I very much appreciate that you took the time to "philosophise", and actually explain the principles of side hustles. I found it very useful and plan to incorporate your ideas into my own work structure and see what I can do using the unique skills I have available. Thank you so much!
