Also reaction time to jumping for an aerial to win a 50/50 is huge to keep up with people in plat. Just be aware of where the opposition is and if they are faking or challenging. Everything is a split second decision even in plat. People just miss a little more having worse accuracy than diamond+. Its like a constant game of cat and mouse waiting to rotate and giving your team the opportunity to score without much risk of a counter attack open net. More importantly never stop moving and speed up your pace doing backflip cancels/ speed flips.
@luukslegers27092 жыл бұрын

I think that it's important simply to learn new skills and mechanics, instead of just refining old ones. I avoided wave-dashes, thinking that they only have limited impact on my game.... but learning to use them has allowed me to move with way more flexibility, in the trajectory of circular movements instead of typical straight movements with turns. Why? You also have to incorporate drifting to wave dash in various directions. Aside from this, it's simply FUN to learn new mechanics and keeps you fully engaged (creative) in your training. It all improves your car control, far beyond the mere mechanic (The wave dash doesn't just improve wave dash)

One thing I would like to add that has helped me tremendously is recognize what went wrong when you get scored on. 10% it’s a lucky bad bounce that puts you in a bad defense position and they score on you. 90% of the time it’s a mechanical error on my part (miss touches, bad read, etc.). Once I adopted this way of thinking and analyzing, I started to make minor adjustments which greatly improved my overall play. I’m not the best by any reach of the imagination. I’m solid mid plat across all my playlists and can get rallied hard by diamonds. Just hope this can help others as it’s greatly helped me!

Even after over 1k hours I'm still like really really bad at dribbling but saves, well, they saved me a lot of times lol. Just as a sidenote: maybe sometimes try to rewatch a replay of yours in the perspective of your teammate. I’m in champ and I can’t wave dash, tilt in the air, or really dribble for that matter lol. The most important thing is rotations and being in the right place at the right time. Making game time quick decisions on whether or not it is smart to go for the ball or let your teammate go for it, as well as understanding when the opponent will make it to the ball first. I play and beat a bunch of high-skill offense acrobats using just basic awareness fundamentals and waiting for them to miss or make a bad touch and capitalize. Learn what the opponents want to do with the ball and stop them from doing it. Know what your teammates want to do and support them. I play 3s for context.

I think practicing long shots are more important at any rank below Diamond. Probably the easiest way to rank up to Diamond plus is to be able to expose the bad positioning and score those cheeky goals. Priorities defense and long shots can take a low ranking player far. Prior defense is cause at lower ranks there is to many ball chasers, to risky to go up, try to dribble and then teammate decides you need help so they flip into the ball above your car and now you double committed. Can’t control your teammates, so let them flail around in offense while you are playing solid defense and putting shots on net from your half of the field. I wouldn’t master dribbling and flicking at this rank. Dribbling and flicking are very situational, plus the real positive to practice for dribbling is catching it on defense corners and keeping control. If you’re a 1s player then yes master all the dribbling and flicking. But 2s and 3s it get more and more situational.
