Some honest help, Pikasprey: 1.- If you're getting Bite, I say it must go to Violet. Her "good" SAtk aside, there's a big reason for it: *Paraflinch.* She already has Stun Spore, after all. The BlackGlasses are in Rocket Hideout, too! Very fortunate! 2.- You're gonna be disillusioned, but the only way to get a Magnet is from wild Magneton-- so only an option after beating Koga. 3.- A long-term tip: After you beat Koga, you can Surf from Nugget Bridge to Route 4. This lets you meet a Lass who uses the Paras line. *And they know Spore.* If you can somehow set yourself up to Sketch it, it's totally worth it. 4.- I think you can't get Dragon Rage anytime soon, I'd say just go for Night Shade once you get the Silph Scope. 5.- Another long-term tip now: once you obtain the Super Rod, you'll be able to fish Gyarados who have no Dragon Rage, but do have Thrash, the OP move that locks you in but won't confuse you thanks to Own Tempo. Your call if this is a desirable move to Sketch. Good luck, Pikasprey, and I hope you find this helpful.

I don't know if this is different in FRLG, but he tried to get Nightshade in the Crystal Smeargle challenge and realized it was impossible because no AI would use a Ghost move against a Normal Pokemon (because they're immune).

The order in which you fight the gyms in FR/LG doesn't matter other than 1, 2, 3, & 8. The magnet is a low chance held item from Magneton in the Powerplant. Great vid and series as always, keep up the great work Pikasprey!

Getting water gun before Roxanne is basically mandatory for the challenge. @@TheSpaceOpera Those both sound like great ideas. However I got threw the early game with mainly just low kick and leer. I was able to get surf from a zigzagoon on the slateport city beach. I also got Thunderbolt in Watson's gym. I got flamethrower from some where but I forgot who. Now a word of advice to you. Try to get protect or detect along with leech seed before you reach the 5th gym or else that slacking is gonna give you a bad time.

I think I made a comment a few episodes ago, but you should definitely try to get the Itemfinder (catching 30 Pokemon), since there are a few held items that can only be found if you use it in certain areas. Giovanni's gym gives you the Macho Brace if you use the Itemfinder on the spot where he was standing after beating him, which will be great for the last grind before the Elite 4, as long as your puppers aren't too high leveled to get anything out of the 2x EV growth with it equipped.

I've just grinded the 3 most useful ones (Baka with peck and confusion, Zuzu with nightshade and Walter with yawn) until they could last more than 1 hit and then just started to throw myself at him until eventually it worked (with my highest level being 21). Outside of that it's a really fun playthough though. Super excited for Rayquaza encounter in this one

KO moves like horn drill and sheer cold aren't guaranteed to miss if you're a lower level unless you're 30 levels lower. It's (your level - opponent's level) + 30 = accuracy so if you're 5 levels lower it has 25 accuracy. Whirlwind is one of the moves that has been changed the most times so it gets pretty convoluted. It has 100 accuracy (sand attack and double team can make it miss) and level doesn't matter at all in gen 3. As far as I know Whirlwind has never had a level check in trainer battles.

About held item farming: While I do think that getting Spell Tag off Haunter may be a good idea if you manage to get a hold of something like Shadow Ball, I don't think Lucky Egg farming really is worth it in FireRed. Chansey appear at a 4% rate at most in the Safari zone and they will flee most of the time. They only have a 5% chance to hold a Lucky Egg. Therefore, about 1 in 500 Pokemon encountered in a such area of the Safari Zone will be a Chansey with a Lucky Egg. Therefore, even if you were to manage to catch one out of every five Chansey you ran into, you'd only have an approximately 63% chance of having obtained a Lucky Egg within 2,500 encounters. Assuming about 12 seconds per encounter, that would make the Lucky Egg grind last an average of about 10 hours. Then again, I've seen crazier grinds than that on your channels before.

If you're able to find a Vulpix between Lv29 and Lv33 (maybe if their levels increase with the Vs. Seeker or in the wild somewhere), you should be able to sketch Will-o-Wisp without worrying about Quick Attack.

I find it interesting to compare and contrast the benefits and drawbacks Jimbo and Co. had in Crystal against Moomin and Co. in FireRed. Jimbo's team had a different EV system so all their stats could go up at a decent pace, but without their Ability, they could be confused. Yet since Jimbo's team could be confused, they could use Confuse Ray to their advantage. Meanwhile with Moomin's team, they can't be confused thanks to Own Tempo, but now they are probably not going to learn Confuse Ray. Also thanks to the more modern EV system, seeing 1s and especially 0s upon Level Up can be really demotivating.
