It's such a tiny and forgettable part of the game that it's probably not even worth the slight diversion, but I'd get a kick out of it if you used the printer thing in the game corner to have all six smeargles permanently stamped on your trainer card. Just to further immortalise them as they struggle their little hearts out against theoretically impossible odds.

So Christian, I just finished my own smeargle play through of this game and just wanted to offer you a few ideas for moves. Sketch tri attack from the doduo in the route west of celadon city. Only the higher level doduo have it seismic toss or night shade. You can get seismic toss from the dojo guys in saffron or from wild primape in victory road. Leech seed is really good to get from Erica. Also some general advice: Nidoking is the best late game hm slave. You can catch a nidorino in the safari zone and evolve it with a moon stone. Sell TMs for money

Vibrava is based on a type of insect in the order Neuroptera, whose larval stage is a strong bitey ground thing called an antlion (thus trapinch) and then they're a fragile dragonfly-looking thing as an adult.

How dig does significant damage: dig tunnels below the opponent. the ground beneath the opponent becomes fragile, the ground collapses, the opponent collapses into the tunnels beneath getting debree on top of them. Don't think about it as them popping out from under the ground.

Try to pick up body slam. 85 bp, STAB, plus no accuracy check AND double damage against minimized targets. Should let you 1-2 shot grimers and muks with ease.

@@TheSpaceOpera Yes and no - minimize taking extra damage started in gen 2 with stomp, but each generation couldn't make their mind up on which moves get the boost. You are correct that Body Slam joined the list in gen 6, as well as the boosted moves bypassing accuracy checks, but the framework has been there almost since the beginning. Also minor semantics, but the boost itself changed throughout the gens, starting at doubling the move's power before doubling the damage dealt in gen 4.

Sketch bite from wild ekans on the route near diglett's cave as well as leech seed from the rival's exeggcute.....If you want some fun you can also sketch metronome from clefairy on the route west of lavender town the first girl facing west near the old guy......You can also use the dojo to sketch thunder ice and fire punch as well....Try getting seismic toss as it has higher pp than night shade.

Game Freak probably thought people would find it cheap if he spammed potions and (back in gen1) the less than accurate (but still bullshit) 1 hit KO moves. Probably figured that when the player fights Giovanni they have more than a diverse and leveled team to deal with his mostly rock types, and if you beat the fighting dojo you have a decent fighting type if you didn't get Mankey off the Viridian City/PokeLeague route

For anyone who wants it the Universal Randomizer allows you to run indoors anywhere in Gen 3 games. I don't think you even have to randomize anything. Just put your rom in and select the run anywhere option.

Gigadrain would be nice to have, tbh. Its one of the best grass type attacks you'll be able to get and it will become useful even against the elite 4 (you have Lorelei's water types and Bruno's Onixes. I can't remember which started did your rival had, but if he has Blastoise, it will be useful against him as well). Also, you can always gigadrain a geodude or graveler and not have to use potions, so there's always that too

Butterfree has compound eyes and cannot be hit by ground moves because it is bug/flying thus makes ground moves miss and halves flying/fighting damage. Yet beedrill has wings but because it is bug/poison ground moves hit. One would think that having wings would make ground moves miss automatically. As to magnemite family, it's metal sphere, a screw, an eye and magnets. Why would ground moves not hit it?

There is one way to teach Smeargle TMs technically, if you teach a TM to a pokemon and battle a Ditto, Ditto will transform and copy that pokemons moves and by sending out Smeargle, you can sketch the moves the transformed Ditto throws at you, just in case you wanna get for example surf or something.

People submitted short entries under a time limit. Granted there were only 4 entries. And most of them were really unpolished. And I was one of the contestants.
