the real prelude is boxier and different than the concept bc here, i see a gr86 chassis, the front and the back looks the same as the latest Toyota CHR. I hope Honda continues respecting the old prelude style before the crowds goes mad.

I know Honda is known for front wheel drive cars, but it would be really cool if this was a direct competitor to the GR86 as a rear wheel, drive 6 speed, naturally aspirated for cylinder car. And also fairly cheap

Depends if it's awd or not. The honda E is the only other new rwd honda. The zdx is offered in rwd while the prologue is fwd then awd with the higher trim

A manual with a hybrid would be HUGE. That means the feasibility of a manual can continue on for a couple more decades. Japanese companies will most likely keep the manuals alive for much longer.

RS is just the Si equivalent for Japan... they have never had the Si trim. There is no reason to expect that the Si / RS 6MT transmission (ICE car) will translate to the Prelude (Hybrid) and I would bet the odds of this happening are 0% ... they'll give it flappy paddles and tell you how great it is.

That hybrid CVT is actually not a typical variable ratio belt CVT, it is more like a single ratio gearbox/flywheel rotated by an electric motor combined with small capacity lithium battery and an obvious 2.0 Atkinson cycle engine (electricity generator) which may or may not be directly linked to the wheels. In effect, it basically drives like an EV, as it uses an electric motor most of the time, with the engine Idling in the background just to recharge the battery at low speeds and being coupled to the wheels at higher speeds or power demands in certain applications. Check out the latest hybrid Civic for how it's implemented!

To be fair, this looks decently differentiated from the civic and the only parts it's going share other than the underlying platform, are the drive trains and possibly the seats, dashboards and info-tainment system ( some of which are industry leading, especially the Si seats) . Not a single body panel or light will be from the civic. So that makes it a completely different vehicle, much different than some Acura versions to their Honda cousins...

So its just a civic coupe we get 6 years late? Should've released it in 22 or even now. All honda hybrids aren't cvt, they have no trans at all just use the power ranges of the motors and one or two gears, hopefully not the case in this car and its like the crz and gets a manual.

They put a CVT auto in the S660 for the automatic. Honda puts them in every thing it's cheap and easy to make so I'm not suprise if the new prelude has a CVT auto that'll make sense
