Great video. Ive noticed how alot of styling gurus have taken personal expression out of style. In our quest to be chic, stylish, cool etc, its turned into a list of rules and one fits all type of thing. Style is supposed to be fun and an expression of who you are. Those are just my opinions. I like how your own personal style is evolving.

I followed your advice about lightening up the wardrobe and it made such a huge difference. It changed my mood instantly, especially in colder months! An unexpected change is that I no longer view darker colors as just practical and routine. They look so much better to me when I wear them after the whites and the beiges, it's like I forgot they are actually very pretty.

I am personally trying to improve my style for being a bit more feminine and elegant, but I feel so insecure of myself that I´m always craving for my confort zone, and wear all the time large black pants and sweaters which make me look bulky and cheap. It is annoying and boring, and paradoxically unhealthy mentally. So, I started with baby steps, with a cute handbag of color (instead of a black backpack), and the next step will be shoes maching the bag color, and even a scarf probably... Thanks @Audrey Coyne, your videos are helping. ;) Kisses from a French girl called also Audrey.

I have the same problem - I love so much more elegant style - skirt, dresses, blouses... but I don't like show my pale legs and I don't feel comfortable with even small heels... I feel like girl who tries mum's clothes :D
@moonchild65010 ай бұрын
I used to wear oversized clothes in order to be unseen, blend in the crowd and not be harrased. I was not confident. Now that I'm older, I am much more confident and loving myself, so I wear feminine skirts, tops, dresses and don't give a damn what people think about me. Red has become my favorite color (I had never dared wearing when I was younger). I expose parts of my pale arms and legs (never too much) too. Someone had asked me "why don't you tan?"I didn't bother answering that I used to roast myself for years to a well done degree in the Mediterranean sun and luckily, I'm no longer that young fool I used to be. Therefore, the key to upgrading your style to a more feminine one is taking care of ourselves and our bodies, becoming confident, feeling feminine and not caring about other people's opinions (unless they have constructive criticism on some major flaw in us that has nothing to do with our style or outer appearance)@@olgamaderova1542

I remember this one time I wore my combat boots with a black dress and felt so cool without having to wear heels which I don’t like. Even though I am a fashion lover and I generally dress well I stopped caring a bit and I’ve been wanting to revamp my style. One of my first things is getting a different pant style to play with a new shape at work. I’m slowly adding some new shapes to my wardrobe so this video is exactly what I needed for some inspiration!

Dresses with boots was the 90s and I never ever would’ve stopped except when nerve damage on my foot forced me to not be able to wear boots for over 10 years. When I could again, and perhaps this is influenced by my personal silhouette of skinny ankles in all, it was perfect all over again

What a great video! So much wisdom here. I tried a pair of high waisted, wide leg pants today for an appointment, and it was so much fun. I found them on clearance before lockdown but had been too intimidated to wear them. So thank you for that encouragement. Also, from a curly haired girl here, everyday is an adventure with curly hair, depending on the humidity, product, amount of dirt and product.....alignment of the planets... 🤣✨It’s always a gamble and I feel like it informs my overall style continually (some days I really struggle with it), but this is the first time I’ve heard someone articulate that so perfectly. 🙏

Right now. I feel like I am struggling a little bit with my style. I have flair for the bohemian and used to dress more expressively and fun. The past four years or so since I have advanced a bit in my career as a social worker I have been struggling to strike a balance between professional and bohemian and expressive. And I often feel like I fall short or that my outfit feels boring. I have been thinking about maybe finding new ways to wear my jewelry and scarves since I have a lot of both. Trying different proportions or layers and seeing what happens!

I'm so happy you have also been freed from the one size fits all hairstyle. I did the same thing for a long time. I always straightened my wavy hair because that's what I was "supposed" to do in order to follow the beauty accepted standard. After having my 3rd baby and really really not having time to straighten my hair, I just allowed my hair to be it's natural wavey self. I have never looked back. I am so much happier and feel more me.

I remember a light bulb came on for me when I saw her video about what the “basic white tee” might look like for the various Kibbe types, which explained why I never liked wearing the traditional boxy crew neck white tee everyone on KZbin/IG seems to live by. I’ve since learned to tweak and modify the “rules” so that it fits me. Thanks for another great and informative video!

I agree with you: we have to customize all the style advices to our own style! I realized I didn't like to wear white! so no white button up or white tee shirt (or pencil skirt)on my list of basic "must have". I just had to figure out what my own basics would be as the concept is still valid but with different components!!! I also add a small pop of color here and there but not in major items as I get bored more easily with colors outside of my usual palette. I still have to investigate some different shapes to wear so while staying in the same colour palette I will be less "bored" while owning fewer clothes...

as much as i do think that if a generic style tip doesn't work for you, you should be able to throw it out - i don't like jeans and have finally stopped trying to wear them and it's been a huge mood boost - i love this tip about trying to figure out *why* a basic piece doesn't work for you. i thought for ages that button-up shirts looked hideous on me, but i think that what i wasn't enjoying was that they tend to be very loose and that the pointed collars don't look good on me. finding a button-up shirt in a heavier material with a more streamlined design and a rounded collar i was absolutely shocked that i think it suits me perfectly, and being willing to take a chance is the only reason i learned that.

Definitely tired of neutrals and basics in my own wardrobe. Looking to break the monotony and be my own style icon.
@irairod51603 жыл бұрын
Yes! I had some years when I only wore neutrals, maybe because I found them so easy to mix-and-match, and maybe because I wanted to "look the part" in my new corporate(ish) environment. But then I realized that being so devoid of "pop" colors was killing my joy. So, I slowly started adding small pieces in different shades of blue-red (a burgundy handbag, a mulberry silk blouse, a button up shirt in a with a very colorful, small-scale print...) and taking baby steps (black pencil skirt, white button up, red shoes and lipstick). All of a sudden, I fell in love with my wardrobe again. It's been an evolution, from adding just a touch of color to my "IBM blue" suits to the confidence I have today, when I'm dressed in shades of eggplant from head to toe, with gold stud earrings and a delicate gold necklace with a small charm. I feel amazing. The silhouettes are very conservative and timeless, but the color is more interesting than the all navy-gray-black-white ensembles I used to wear. I look in the mirror and say, "THIS is how I want to dress!"

I love your style and the white off the shoulder sweater with the light pink maxi skirt is 😍😍. Where I live your style which is similar to mine comes off as too formal. Even at work executives wear jeans. Could you do a video with spring/summer outfits with this in mind? Especially in the office where the AC is blasted, I find it very hard to be casual enough and comfortable in summer.
