Fun fact btw. While yellow is a much much better color then red, and certainly stands out the most. Look into a very bright green. its nearly the same level of contrast BUT its advantage over yellow is you eyes see it sooner. Green is the easier color for your brain to proccess. Its why Quake players force their models to be green. I would instead go with yellow crosshairs. (granted, halo doesn't have cross hair customization, but most games do)

I finally arrived to Onyx last night after 3 weeks. I noticed that generally slowing down helps tremendously and not panic when getting into gunfights. I would panic as soon as I would start getting shot back and start spraying in the general area of the enemies head and would miss. I started by incorporating a rhythm of crouches and strafes and shooting and it helped tremendously

A little detail to add when you're in a fight 2v1 with a teammate...try to keep a grenade of distance from each other, yeah the extra fire power is great but not when you can get double killed with a frag.

reached onyx a few days ago. i just wanted to mention that your rank gain/loss is dependant on your own performance. from what i can tell its prioritized like this. 1. KD 2. win/loss 3.objective score (captures/ball time). ive won games and lost rank and lost games where ive gained rank. just focus on improving and winning your 1v1s and play your life. hope this helps anyone looking to rank up.

This is an obvious lie. You don't gain rank after a loss PERIOD. The best that can happen is no points loss after a game from someone quitting. Other than that you can go 49 n 2 and lose that game and still lose rank.

The ranks aren’t really calibrated yet, so there are a lot of people in onyx that shouldn’t be there. Diamond especially as well. Next season we will see more accurate ranks

Climbed from low gold to diamond 3, definitely not Onyx but what has helped me is just actively thinking in the game. Don't be in the open and if on objective like domination instead of constantly rotating through the points just hover one because enemies will come to you.

Great vid. Another thing I keep noticing is don’t fly around corners when you don’t know what’s there! I see so many people sliding or jumping around a corner into a 2v1 and dying. Have a peek and then decide if you should go.

Also the biggest tip that helped my friends is your walk speed is basically your run speed. Don't run into engagements unless you know you have the upper hand. Stroll around corners not sprint

from my experience sprint and slide should mostly be used when you 100% know you aren't putting yourself at risk or to escape a bad situation

This would be a useful tip if your weapons didn't ready up instantaneously in this game. There is no penalty for sprinting, you can fire the frame you come out of sprint. The one time this is actually good information is when you have camo. There is almost no reason to sprint with camo, as you'll decamo and you don't really move much faster.

@@ShaneClough your weapons readying up instantly can help you but it won't save you if you've just ran into the whole enemy team without peaking to know they are there. plus as you said, you don't really move much faster whilst sprinting so it's worth it to be more careful when turning a corner. That being said you should still be using sprint quite a lot it depends on the circumstances.

You will likely climb to Diamond stupidly easy. I have seen people not even flag juggle, ball reset, not take a team fight instead they just hold ball, run off solo and keep flipping spawns ( on slayer or hard ) not contenst power weapons or abilities... You get the point. All these people were higher than me ( Diamond 2 going on 3 ) at diamond 5 or even 6. The ranking system is broke in many ways.

@@marioman4486 in solo que I wouldn't be too worried, at most you'll be against a 2 stack but you'll most likely have a 2 stack on your team too. Just make sure you cam adjust to how your team plays. I play in open que mainly as I thing it's more competitive

The ranking system is kinda a joke in this game, I lost 3 games in a row due to randoms and the 4th game I won and went up a rank. So basically if you loose you barley go down at all but I’ve cleared half a bar on a a single win. Getting diamond didn’t feel well earned at all.

From what I understand the ranking is based WAY more off of individual stats rather than team win/loss. This makes it a little less frustrating losing a game because of bad coms or poor play by teammates and/or teammates not playing objective.

I think a better way to promote the skill gap the devs want in ranked is to have commando starts instead of brs. Same function as br but harder to use and also if grenade hit markers are taken away I think a ui indicator for grenades of some kind would help whether its just yours in case you accidentally suicide or only friendly nades etc. Finally enemy footsteps need to be MUCH louder to counteract no radar

I've climbing from Gold 2 to Diamond 1 in about a week and heres what I can share. 1. Situational awareness - Understand where you are in relation to your team and the objective. 2. Play for Objectives - You will not get MMR just from dropping a 3-1KD, you need to win the game too. Make sure you're doing your part to play the objective and win the game not just get kills. 3. Stick together - Move as a group and trade off of each other. You should avoid taking 1v1s. 4. Better Positioning - Take fights from high ground and behind cover. Also do your very best to never run across the middle of the map. 5. Power weapons - use them.

Should note that headshot damage depends on the weapon. Snipers like the S7 and Shock rifle will do bonus damage if you hit the head. 1 shot even full shield.

The Ego thing is important. Low skill players aren't "shit at aiming" it's their game knowledge and tactics that suck. I'm fairly new to infinite but I've seen so many people comment calling low rank people "marine bots" or other phrases that just make them seem completely unskilled. I think I'm a BAD player, and I'm sure if I played ranked I'd be in bronze or silver, and I'm the best of all my friend group that plays. Yet even the worst of us dumpster odst and spartan bots. What I think I've learned is that the biggest different in low level and high level players isn't pure aim (at least on controller) it's a bit of movement, and a lot of "non conventional damage" (i.e. useful nades, and your ability with less standard weapons) and a LOT of positioning. Most people of lower skill aren't great with things like the heatwave, ravager, cindershot and skewer and at the lower level of play the team that controls and uses those weapons well dominates. Like seriously just the basics of controlling power weapons will win you games at low levels. I can't tell you the amount of times I've seen teammates bitch about "wow they got the rocket launcher again" yet when it spawned they weren't there to defend it. All that said, I hover between 45-55% accuracy (which apparently is about or slightly below average for MnK) and win duals all the time. Same with people I get q'd against, and ESPECIALLY when I face someone on a controller, it's NEVER accuracy, it's always angles and movement. I never feel like someone is a much better shot than me (again, except for long range with controller where the assist is just too strong for me to keep up with consistently) and it's almost ALWAYS game knowledge and positioning that beats me. I'm constantly saying "holy crap I'm so sick of trying to fight one of them and getting killed from somewhere else" or "jesus they're just all in there and we can't get into kill them without trading bad" or "and they have all the power weapons and are killing us as we spawn" I almost never get frustrated at losing a fight because I met a dude in a hallway and we had a straight fight and he was better than me, because I can't think of a time I just got dominated in a fight like that. And again, I supposedly have decent accuracy. You want more proof? Look at the dudes who make videos of "onyx player in silver/bronze/gold" lobby etc. They dominate, but it's rare they take a bad fight and just win. They're (almost) always hitting their opponent before their opponent starts shooting back. And if they get in a bad position they usually reposition before they fight, they hardly ever just "skill" their way through it.

The thing with sniping is that I do not like the button layout for it. Having to click RT twice in order to zoom out is annoying as oppose to click RT once to zoom in, and RT again to zoom out. I'd rather have the zoom in function bind to right shift. As for as I know, there is no way to do that

I hit Onyx for one game last night then lost a few in a row right after... I’ll keep grinding and try and hold it! I’d like to get at least 16-1700. I play console and my brother in law plays PC so we have to do Open ranked but only have the 2 of us. So pairing with 2 randoms makes it hard to climb unfortunately but the grind is still fun! I would love to get a few more to make a 4 team but It’s hard finding decent players that are not rage monsters or complain about everything, takes the fun out of it! 😔

I hate when people say accuracy doesn’t matter. Absolutely insane take. Yes there’s prefire, jiggle peaks and hard shots you aren’t going to hit all time just so you can reset a shield or something. EVERY pro has good accuracy stats over a large sample size. No it shouldnt be a min focus, but it shows the consistency of these techniques while aiming. I know a bunch of kids who have good accuracy and have terrible game sense and vice versa. The ones that are consistent with the technique and accuracy are the dangerous ones. So yeah but of a rant but u cannot tell me accuracy and stats aren’t important. Go find a pro with less than 40% accuracy over more than 100 games, it’ll be nearly impossible.

The biggest problem i have is the spawn system is trash, really needs to be fixed..tired of spawning, taking 2 steps then being double teamed while my teammates are across the map

(im a solo q kinda player) a few of my games in Plat 4 have been very one sided. Really annoying when your team just doesnt mesh or arent on the same page, but it is what it is, ill be Diamond soon enough

I climbed up to onyx 1544 and for the past week I have dropped all the way down to D5. All my games I'm going positive and over 50-55% accuracy. This ranking system doesnt make sense to me. I get that it takes personal performance in mind but even when my team wins and Im going positive i only get 1-3 points then a lose will drop me 8-15.

I would prefer guided that are more hard skills, or at least separate hard and soft into separate videos. "Ego" and "don't care about stats" just don't belong in a video with positioning and such

I don’t have a team so I’m currently stuck on diamond i have to solo Q what gets me is people even when you should solo Q should all use game chat and work as a team but it just seems most games people focus on themselves instead of the team which is causing me to be stuck in diamond and on solos/duo plat 3 so I’m going to work through that till I find a 4 man I can work effectively with
