haha too funny, my Omi always would tell us that too "you're not made of sugar!" Good way to describe the "parallel universe". I guess like you said it's about detachment, which even means for the short encounters with people on the camino. We have to understand that whatever blessing we get from them, we need to be open to other blessing we will also get from new people too. Right now, I am preparing for our Camino - not sure yet which one will are doing, haha. I keep changing my mind. But I have time to straighten all that out yet. Right now, I'm focusing walking around where I live - which is all big hills and long stretches in the Southern Tier of NY State.

...beautiful little list, Jessi, and I agree, very useful tips! I walked the camino twice (2005 and 2010), and I did it without a phone or camera, and I only sent once a week a round email to all my friends and family, to report a bit, how I'm doing... I also never booked a bed in advance... instead I built up a complete trust, that I will always find a bed, which was true. I even lost my camino guide book on the way, and decided not to go back to find it, or buy a new one, as by then I had learned, that I don't need it... there are arrows everywhere, I can ask by-passers, and I also just have to always walk westwards - I loved that simplicity so much!! 💖

Oh I couldn't agree more! Thanks for sharing. I find even the locals are so helpful. When I started walking down a non-camino path, an old spanish lady came out of her house to tell me the right way. Our senses are so much more focused if there is no phone involved. Having said that, I would probably take my phone with me for the next one, just to document more :) But agreed, the simplicity of the camino is one of the best parts about it.

Very nice description of what makes the Camino so special. I have already walked four Caminos and can only agree with you. On the first few days you ask yourself from time to time, when the path goes back up the mountain, why am I doing this? Over time, running becomes just a way to get around with other people and to enjoy the days. Many friends and colleagues have asked me why I hike Caminos over and over again. Someone who has never walked the Camino only sees the length of the path and how hard it is to walk that far. You can only understand what the path and the people on the way give you if you hike yourself. On the Camino I always have the feeling that people are who they are and don't have to wear the masks of the "normal world" to protect themselves. That's why I will be on a Camino again next year. I'm looking forward for more videos from you. Buen Camino Sascha

Oh this is beautiful and one of the main reasons I will walk the Camino over and over again! The simplicity. Everyone only comes with a backpack and the purest version of themselves. Leaving all non-essentials behind, for packing and who you show up as on the Camino. The bonds and connections feel so real and special. Buen Camino!

Also, I cycled and my wife hiked, cycling by yourself is definitely much more isolating because you're moving more quickly by people, so you only meet a few people but I did meet some, this time I'm going back to cycle from Pamplona and then I'm going to train back and Hike from León, so both experiences😊

@jessimoves yes, many say walking the Camino is best done alone, cycling it is maybe best done with some friends, I did meet a few other cyclists, but was definitely somewhat isolating. Going back with 2 friends.

Do you mean the whole trip or per day? You’re able to lay with card almost everywhere. I would always have around 50 Euros handy for the Albergues, donativos or tips.
