I think her damage really sucks. It's just she is smart enough to leverage her knowledge about each opponent weakness to minmax it, where it counts.

Nahida doesn't have much personal damage herself when built optimally. Her strength, rather, is from her dendro application that her party members can capitalize on.

I think it's less about power and more Nahida acknowledging that she doesn't know how to fight. Like she has no real training or experience in combat. By contrast, Venti, Zhongli and Raiden are all seasoned war veterans so they know how to use their powers in battle.

for non-nahida havers who still want to read npc's thoughts during quests: Just look up the quest you're doing on the genshin wiki, the wiki has all the dialogue listed for every quest (if it's voiced you can also listen to the voice lines) and they include the nahida-mind-read lines as well :) Anyway, I main Nahida. I love her so much. I even pulled raiden as a support for her lol (i'm sure i'll make raiden her own team eventually, but for now she's on full EM and with only her skill at lvl 9 haha)

Unfortunately, mind reading only works in the Sumeru region so far. In Mondstat, Liyue and Inazuma doesn't work, maybe because updating all existing NPCs one by one from the very beginning would be a huge task. We'll have to wait to see if it works on regions released later or it's exclusive to Sumeru. It does work on many quests and limited events, but agan, only in sumeru

You gotta remember unlike the others the one who voiced nahida also voiced the zombie girl. she knows what she wants to have her character do and she’s had experience in the studio giving her character the extra stuff which the other characters don’t have that’s why it’s good to be more involved in the game it gives a better character appreciation for the next character girls should learn from this.
