OMG! those are wonderful tips to share, the most pratical one for me is the waist band extension.... that is genius. Thank you so much for sharing these tips with us and wouls love to see a video on sewing these jeans. I whish i could take a course with him that would be so valuable but unfortunatly mobility is a big issue for me and the distance but i do apperiacte that you were able to get a great pair of jeans, they look fantastic on you! Thank you again and like you, I love the sewing community we have so much in common together. 😍🥰

Tip #6 is one I’ve needed for years! I’ve seen garments for 55 years, and always struggled with the buttonholes on pant fly extensions, because of the unwieldy bulk ! Now I won’t! Thank you!!!!!

Cathy, I'm glad it was helpful! Ron teaches a class on sewing the Ginger jean pattern. Do you recommend that pattern?

I actually really like the Ginger jeans. So with my little knowledge on jeans patterns I’d say yes. Can’t hurt to give it a try. Cathy

Using the triple stitch for top stitching I have always done because I am lazy... I was happy to find out it is a "valid" sewing technique😂. Thank you for taking the time to pass on this information.
@JanineSews6 ай бұрын
It’s funny because I had someone in real life tell me that the triple stitch is a mistake because it’s impossible to unpick. 🤷 I think it looks great!

Thank you, Janine. You're right about the sewing community. There's so much generosity in sharing tips, techniques and knowledge of all kinds. I've yet to tackle making jeans, but it's on my 'to do' list (which is very long - also characteristic of we sewists!) and your video has now given me a head start. So thank you again for sharing what you know and have learned. Regards, Anne

Thank you so much for the tips. The jeans are so cute-I like the bird on the pocket. So kind of you for making the video of the actual waist band tip-perfect for even non-jeans patterns. Your buttonhole looks fabulous without all that internal bulk. What a wonderful time of the year to memorialize your Mum. The weather will be lovely.

OMG the waistband tip is absolutely brilliant! I just had the Carlyle jeans pattern from Style Arc printed, and have some thrifted denim to use as a toile. I will be using all of those tips. I don't have access to advanced sewing classes/retreats, so I really appreciate it when you and your fellow vloggers share. Enjoy the sunny weather! We had frost here in Southern Ontario last night. My local library has acquired a wide paper printer and they are only charging $1 a foot for printing. I'm hoping it will be able to print sewing patterns. Also no worries about commenting back, just a heart or thumbs up I enough but of course only if you have time. And a sew a long for jeans would be great.

Jennett, how are those jeans coming?
@jennetthamilton9716 ай бұрын
I have started them yet, it's just too hot here for jeans. I've made some summer tops and pajamas. My great neices are is dire need of shorts. Since I was cutting a bunch out i decided to cut more for some coworkers little girls. I think yesterday I cut out 20 pairs of shorts and 5 sundresses. All are super fast to sew. The jeans will probably wait until September. Thanks for asking.

Janine, I forgot to ask, which tool did you use to attach your hardware please. Many thanks.
@JanineSews7 ай бұрын
Linda, I use buttons that don't need a tool other than a hammer. I really like them because they go on well and look good. You have to be certain where they are going because there is no turning back! I have not yet used rivets although I have purchased some for the next project. Here's a link for the buttons: fabricville.com/products/unique-jean-buttons-no-sewing-antique-17mm-6-pcs?_pos=1&_sid=093ab9bfb&_ss=r

@JanineSews7 ай бұрын
Thank you, Dena! When I attend Ron Collins classes they are taught at Out of Hand which is a fabric store here in Calgary. Ron has classes scheduled for July, and I would bet that he will be back in the late fall, too. He teaches jeans classes, fitting retreats (not just for fitting, he helps with everything), knits classes, and pattern alterations.
