Dang, KZbin took it's sweet sweet time notifying me of this one, but the weights explain so much, I always wondered how you where so jacked.

very good video, down to earth practical tips about gamedev (and more) lifestyle :)

I find it extremely difficult to work on my project after the full time job on evenings. Mostly because the main job takes most of my time and definitely all my powers. So, basically, the only productive time is night from Sunday to Monday, before the next week starts. But in general I agree with every word you say. What's your opinion on leaving the full time job for a while, like half of a year, so I can dedicate this time to myself and my own project, taking in account that I am already a game developer for last two decades, so I know how to make a game, I'm pretty good at it, I just have no time. And also I have this life long health problems already, so I need a lot of time just to make pain in the back lower, which makes me think that I can't succeed doing both the full time job and my own project. Just your thoughts?

How can I scatter foliage based on a material color? for example ass grass and trees based on a satellite image on a landscape

This is a question better posed on a game engine forum rather than a video about solo game dev 😅 Because I have no idea...

I think you can do a surface material check inside of a PCG blueprint and decide what you're going to spawn depending on the texture of the ground. If you're satellite image is just one texture then maybe you'll need something more tricky like a box that check the pixels colors and make an average of it for you to then decide what you're going to spawn depending on pre-made color ranges.

Remembering the why is a big one for me. I'm here for the process, but then I get discouraged that I'm not making any money and that no one will even interview me for a job. But why should that bother me if I enjoy the process?

I agree with you The difference that I still make one of my dream project dispais that I personally work on my project weanever I feald like wean I'm motivated ECT. I personally work on big project however ther are I still don't forese my self and I definitely don't ubading work Frinds ECT I'm solo developer I work weanever I want to and I also will my project don't release any time soon it's still release those games at some point. As for how much I paid for my game the answer for this is nothing at this point but I will have to pay for my game sooner or later wean try to selling my game on steam or other stores.😅 But have put a lot of effort and time to make those games.

1st game will always be a fail, so make it quick. This is a tip I heard now multiple times, but what if the 1st game is a passion Project ? not a genre you make a game in because it could make big bug but rather because you would love to play a game like that ?
@NathanRohner11 ай бұрын
If it's a passion project and your satisfaction comes from making / playing what you envisioned then that's fine. Saying the first game will fail and make it quick is more about commercial success and understanding the games market / community wants.
@LuckyRaphi11 ай бұрын
Yes your first game will fail if you're not a genius. But it doesn't have to be quick, make it as big as you want. You can't learn how to make a successful game by making 1 month projects & prototypes. Eventually you will have to start working on a real game.
@danielwick608811 ай бұрын
@@LuckyRaphi technically I did lots of projects in my life but never ended one because of lack of skills or got overwhelmed, since then I had been working on one project and even thou its a passion project I don't won't it to fail, so lets hope im a Genius 😅

All this can be true or used on near any process needing workflow. Some small thing, the most first book's or game's are made for the drawer, what not mean it is usless just part of a longer jurney the way to learn. (I have give up don't do you to! Creativity is a poison can give you a lot of satisfaction, but if you dont find way to use it make the day's bitter, music, writnig, programing, hand crafting.... Hold on it even if its only a hobby!) ---i learned english self sorry for the bad grammar, and difficult thinking---
