In this video, Janak Lotwala, a retail investor with over 10 years of experience in investing in the stock market, discusses the megatrend of investing in the water industry.
According to the statistics, there's a shortage of water due to many reasons, so here's an opportunity for water treatment companies or any company in this value chain to invest in the proxy. Many stocks can be hidden gems in this industry; they can also act as very good proxies for the growth in the coming years.
Janak gives examples of the top six water stocks and the proxy stocks in the water industry. These stocks can be the next multibaggers down the line, while they may or may not be the best stocks or growth stocks in this sector, but they have the option to expand and grow with time as the water industry as a megatrend develops.
First is VA Tech Wabag. This company is in the water treatment industry and provides solutions like sewage water treatment, drinking water treatment, etc. It has many pending orders in the international and domestic markets, with greater public holdings.
Ion exchange also provides solutions for pre-treatment of water, sewage treatment, liquid discharge, etc. A major part of their revenue is from chemical segmentation of the water treatment.
Jash Engineering is a good proxy stock in the industry as it provides equipment used in treatment plants like fabrications, screening equipment, different kinds of valves, etc. They are also used in other industries like irrigation, steel, power, paper, petrochemicals, etc.
EMS is an engineering, procurement, and construction company that provides services related to water treatment to government bodies.
Thermax is an engineering player providing industrial solutions for heating, cooling, pollution control, waste solutions, and water treatment.
ITD Cementation provides services like design, construction, commissioning of pipelines, etc. for water treatment plants and pumping stations. And they are expecting growth in FY'25.
