I for one chose Roadhog as the pro because he destroyed the GC in the 1v1 and had great mechanics,from zaps to chain dashes. Unfortunately the contestant thought the merc was an SSL so we didn't get to see the big 1v1 with x-devil.

Couple really close ones, but think I got them all. Thankfully, it appeared there were no "Freestyle Smurfs" in this version, someone who favors clips over wins, and thus is a lower rank but with much higher mechanics. Simple comparison of rank-warrior-style players makes it a little bit easier, though still challenging.

Apart from the diamond and plat, which played like gold/ plat mechanically (I mean, I understand the air dribbling but even the swerving through cars they looked like low gold maybe plat) I was right about all of them except I mixed the SSL with the pro. The SSL looked really clean and consistent.

I thought the S devil was the ssl. Got all the rest right. It’s hard to tell with really high ranks if they are just messing around with all the unnecessary mechanics or if they are GC’s who are mechanical doing to much. Lol I chose road hog as pro because he had very little wasted movement.

If I had to follow the format of guessing every round I probably would have gotten breakout and gizmo wrong, but watching to the end it became more clear that breakout was better. Also bear in mind, it's hard to ground dribble in a car you're not familiar with since you don't know where the center of gravity is on the model. X-Devil in the flick round, I had a hard time telling if it was scuffed or calculated but started leaning on calculated, and either way no one really did better than him. In the air dribble rounds he was so smooth, and most pros don't have good pogo shots. Road Hog really popped the ball up with his first touches but it never strayed too far out, Merc's setups were never as strong. And Hotshot was clearly in the middle.

Me in Champ 1 still trying to master enough car control to do double taps because I just boomed the ball towards goal. Not the most mechanically inclined player, but everyone has to shoot towards the same goal. If I am always in the spot to save the goal, no matter who mechanically skilled my opponent is, they are not scoring. In 1s, be the last to make a mistake. 2s and 3s, set up my teammates and wait for my opening to score myself.
