As a plat player watching this series, seeing the way Emmie had progressed, knowing she’s substantially dropped in rank since these videos, and theorizing how to better my own playing, I have a few ideas. Again, I’m just a plat player so my opinion could be null and void BUT first of all I think mechanics are most important. Bad players find themselves making bad decisions because they’re only good with bad mechanics. Like if someone is struggling to do anything in game but hit the ball at all, they’re gonna seize every opportunity to hit the ball because it’s the only thing they can do. Learning better mechanics will inherently put them in better situations. 2nd, teaching someone what buttons to use in which order to perform a mechanic isn’t the same as learning a mechanic. I’ve watched tutorials on bounce off the wall air dribble shots which has given me the ability to perform them basically by accident, with no consistency. It’s not enough that someone learning performs the shot correctly 2 times in a session, or 5 times or even 20 times. I think it’s important NOT to move on from that mechanic until it is completely consistently performable and muscle memory is properly trained. Otherwise someone has learned a bunch of things that they can’t actually perform and try applying all of them and it falls apart. I think this is what happened to Emmie. She learned a lot but at the same time she learned little that she could actually apply, which is why she’s fallen back out of plat. I’m testing this as I started now to learn how to dribble, I will NOT move on to practice ANYTHING else until I can consistently dribble WITH CONTROL, not just luck.

I think you can wave dash without leaning back if you just dodge really really close to the ground, that may not seem useful but i found a way to make it useful, whenever you spawn in after a demo your car is slightly off of the ground so you can dodge immediately after you are demoed to effectively get a wave dash. Idk if that is usefual at all but figured id mention it

See I’m a plat with almost the same level of mechanics and skill as this diamond player (besides wall dashes) but I feel like I struggle with the same issue (jumping for the ball when I should be grounded and play patient for control) I feel like this tip will help me get to diamond +. This was a very informative video and I hope it helps other people with the same issue.
