New sub here and just got approved for the VR&E. Wish I was smarter prior to using my Gibill because not sure if I can get the retroactive induction like you've mentioned ? Either way, I am grateful since education isn't cheap and nowadays, every job almost requires a BA and MBA. Thanks for the informative presentation!
@Astrokeofluck Жыл бұрын
@Aiyan777 Welcome. If your plan is to use VR&E in its entirety then I wouldn't be too concerned about the retroactive induction. It was beneficial to me because I backed out of VR&E after two semesters. The time I had left, in the program, was then refunded to my Post 9/11. Once you finish school, anytime you have remaining on VR&E should be eligible to be refunded to Post 9/11. Best of luck!

Having a degree does not get a person a job. It depends on the major. Some careers such as engineering aspiring engineers can be hired while in pursuit of. One point that they need to change is the VA should not be determining what a veteran is pursuing for a major. Because the VA or the counselors do not know until the veterans know. The prejudgment needs to stop. How would a VA employee like to be told what career they could pursue? The VA should open the doors to actually see what the veterans could do. Many veterans are in the predicaments they are in because the government has 3/4 of the time been making poor decisions. Give all veterans a chance!

It sure doesn't. Depends on the degree and also how long you have been in/out of the job field

So I’m going to school to be an electrician through the union. Im currently using my GI Bill but currently only have 15 days left so thinking about applying for the VR&E. Every 6 months you get a deduction of the GI bill. It goes from 100% to 80% and lower as you go. Does Voc Rehab do the same thing?

VRE is VOC, they changed the name. VRE would not deducted from your GI, it would provide essentially an additional 12 months of benefits

I applied for my g.I for school for this coming semester. I also applied for fafsa. I started all this in April. I am not workin so fafsa approved me for my tuition and books. When I applied for my gi benefits I was told to apply for vr&e. I got a letter not too long after and just recently got my appointment for 2 weeks. Fafsa and tap has covered my tuition, so should I not bother with vr&e? Or should I use it for my bah or housing allowance. And is it true they don’t pay the same as the post 911 g.i bah? Will I still receive tuition or no? Just as I have used my gi bill in the past I got to use both but the va gi benefits came in first. I don’t know what to expect

Yes. I would still apply for VRE. The money you get from Pell Grant will dwindle. After your first year of school you won't get as much. You can use VRE and then be refunded all that Pell Grant money to your bank account. VRE BAH is the same as long as you still have time on your Post 9/11 left.
