What was the kid doing there in the first place? The House floor is NOT the place for a kid. It disrespects the solemnity of the proceedings and (as illustrated here) can prove quite disruptive. I’m a nurse and would never bring my young child with me to work. What I’m doing is too important for such distractions. I don’t see how it’s not equally distracting to attempt to ride herd on an exuberant child while simultaneously conducting the business of running the country. If I get distracted and make an error, it affects just the patient on whom I made the mistake. But an error on the part of a legislator could affect the whole country. Cute kid, but a questionable choice on the part of his parents.
