60 FPS Test of War Thunder / Oculus Rift / Max Flight Stick

Test using replay files for footage capture as opposed to FRAPS of live gameplay (which is Rift warped). Looks MUCH better :) Also testing 60 FPS vs the normal 30 FPS. Such a good looking game! :)

Sorry if you have answered this before, but how did you record such a wide angle? I use bandicam and record the two goggle like videos from the Oculus..

BillyBrandon The replay file played back and recorded with fraps in non-rift mode. It remembers your head movements exactly, so you can sync it back up with the footage of yourself playing, and everybody gets to see things looking much better than Rift mode on a screen :) I make a distinct look full left, then full right, full up and full down at the start of a match so I have an obvious motion to sync the replay file to the live recorded footage.

how does the fun factor and immersion compare to that of DCS? i.e. which cockpit feels real-er? i would thing WT is smoother.. what is the 3d-ness like between the two! Keep the vids coming!!!!

DCS feels more "real" for physics / plane control which was what they strove for. In areas where the frame rate stays high, it looks great in the plane with a very real looking cockpit but a bland world to explore. War Thunder is MUCH smoother, slightly more cartoony (less detail) looking inside the planes, but STUNNING graphics for the world and terrain. War Thunder is more fun, the fights are huge, so many scenarios, sooooo many airplanes, and slightly more forgiving physics. DCS when I want to fly "for real" if that makes sense :)

W Lee I feel just slightly too big in War Thunder (I'm 6'3"). DCS the cockpit feels perfect, but outside the airplane it looks a little small (not that you spend much time there :) ). Have a few videos in the works for War Thunder, it is working very well now!

Can you tell me what graphics card your using for this to be so smooth in head tracking? Does it judder at all in the OR?

davidamosphotography NVIDIA 780. It is very smooth, no judder at all. I had trouble a few driver revisions back with judder, but forcing the older DirectX solved that (you can do it from the launcher under "renderer" if I remember right. Not a problem now.

EpicTaco Intel I7 4770K, Nvidia 780, 12GB memory, and a Corsair SSD. Way overkill for War Thunder though. They did some magic with the game engine, it doesn't need crazy power to work well.

Manuel popy It is the mission editor you can access off of the test flight menu. There are a LOT of options you can play with to make your own scenario.

Do people think warthunder is realistic? It's awful, everything about it is more like a game than a simulator. The flight model is easy, not realistic, just as is the engine management, there is none. Just punch it and go, yank on the stick with no worry of real flight dynamics or stress. It may as well be world of warplanes. For those of you that don't believe me, try flying and fighting in DCS, IL2 Cliffs of Dover or IL2 Battle of Stalingrad. You'll soon learn you've been playing an easy mode game in Warthunder.

Junglist Massive Exactly. I haven't met anybody who thinks it is a super accurate simulator (but unless on arcade it isn't as simplistic as ReconB4v is making it sound). It is however, an incredibly fun game that lets you fly a great number of amazing airplanes in historical combat with many other people. There is nothing else quite like it :)

ReconB4V Dude, there is a simulator difficulty that does work with the stress and real flight dynamics. You can stall and rip your vehicle apart with forces. Most people on war thunder play arcade though. Play the game before you criticize it.

+ReconB4V I have Il2-1946 and WT and can say it's pretty much identical to Il2 when flying Warthunder in simulator battle mode..
