And now we lost Afghanistan. I can’t imagine how Guinta feels or Gallardo, because they lost so much, and SSGT Brennen died, only for the enemy, the Taliban, to retake the entire country, take the weapons they probably fought with, ride in the vehicles that they rode in, etc. its despicable and I have nothing but respect for the coalition soldiers who have lived and died through this war. I hope they find peace, unlike my friend who lost an arm in 2011, suffered for 10 years, then shot himself through the head one day after Kabul was taken. His last words were “I lost so much for nothing. I lost my Friends for nothing.” RIP

Listen , and I hope you read this. You say that you don't think that you should have gotten it. And that your wondering what about the other guys, and your right about they would do the same. You are not singled out. You were put in a situation and you were the guy that made the decision . You were the guy who ran through the fire when your brothers needed you most. And it was noticed, and you wear the medal of honor around your neck for them. not just for yourself, but for the brothers who gave it all. The medal around your neck is for everyone around you that time in your life. It reminds people what happened, where you was, who you were with, what battle you and your brothers fought. you weren't singled out. You and your brothers were noticed. And by being noticed you bring noticed to everyone who's fighting and giving everything they got. Be proud, because you represent everything and everyone who was there.

When I was in the Sunni triangle of death in 05-06, we had a soldier get captured and those bastards drove around video taping them selves slowly cutting him to pieces until he was dead then stuffed his body witgh explosives and dumped him on the side of the road, the whole time we were driving around trying our hardest to find that poor soul, and not being able to has allways bothered the hell out of me.

i am reading a book about men who received the medal of honor during WW2. One story was about a man who did lots of things but died diving on a grenade to save two of his comrades.

I did not have the honor of serving. But once many years ago I had the profound privilege of having a conversation with a MOH recipient who was a vet of WWII. As we were talking I noticed a photograph of him in uniform on the wall. President Truman was shaking his hand in the photograph. He told me that he was no hero. He told me that the men he could not save deserved the medal because they gave everything for their country and he only gave a little. He told me he would have gladly given back his MOH, purple hearts and other decorations and even have taken a dishonorable discharge and would have considered it all an insignificant price to pay to bring back the ones he couldn't save. He said he could not wear the medal because to him it was a reminder of his failures. He didn't even like having his picture on the wall but his wife insisted. My own father earned two purple hearts while serving in the Navy in Korea. He never told me about that. He died in 1976. Then my mother opened up an old trunk and took out my father's things and out fell two purple hearts. There was a photograph of him in his navy Uniform wearing both purple hearts. I knew he had served in the Navy. I knew he had lost a foot and a hand in Korea. I knew he had convinced his CO to let him remain in the Navy after his injuries and I knew he ended up in a Navy Honor guard and he often went through his routine twirling his rifle with it's razor sharp bayonet flying around past my face while I stood still. I think I was 7 the first time he did this. He wasn't crazy. He was just extremely skilled and I trusted him. He taught me a little expecting I would go in the Navy but I never got good at it and the Navy rejected me for medical reasons so I look for ways to lend support for fallen warriors. Nothing I do means anything next to what they have done, my father and all those who have served. The one thing I have noticed about such heroes is that invariably they reject the notion that they are heroes. They all tell us they were just doing their job. The thing is, their job is being a professional hero.

2nd Lieutenant Bush was awarded the Coors Medal of Honor for valorously defending Margaritaville from an unlikely Cuban invasion, while AWOL during Spring Break 1972, with complete disregard for his own health (liver) and safety (passing out in the alley). Lieutenant Bush's additional military decorations include the Pabst Blue Ribbon with Salted Peanut Clusters, and the Colombian Gilded Coca Leaf. 2nd L.T. Bush's C.O., Captain Morgan, said "I don't recall him."

The ones who don't belong in the military and care only about themselves. There is not a single living medal of honor recipient who thinks that what he did makes him better than the god fellow soldier, marine, ship Mate , etc , who died, as previously stated there are at least tens of thousands , if not hundreds of thousands of soldiers, airmen , marines, etc, who died or did things worthy of the " medal of honor" and were never heard about.

I have watched videos on "Operation Red Wings" after watching Lone Survivor over 5 times. I thought I would like to see the real SEALS that died that day. All I saw in comments and replies were mostly Marines and they were saying this valley is too small to have that many Taliban. The four SEALS killed 35 Taliban before Murphy,Axelson, and Dietz died. A lot of critics on the book being exaggerated as the movie. Most of it was about their was NO WAY that many Taliban were chasing them and about just putting four SEALS down. SEALS do Recon in small numbers and that's what they were doing looking for the leader. They were found by goat herders which compromised their mission, comms were down, plus they were engaged not long after they let the goat herders go. Why not kill them? The R.O.E was changed you cannot fire UNLESS the enemy fires first. Seems N0bama wants to win the hearts and minds of the civilians, idiot, the Taliban often stay in those villages and you will never change something that's been going on for thousands of years. N0bama knows this because he is a Muslim and just making us weaker so they can hit us here in America. There are over 37 Terrorist Training Camps in America, don't believe me Google it there's a map of where they are not counting the towns they have taken over like Islamberg and Dearborn and they are ruled by Shariah Law. Last week two Americans in New Jersey had their heads cut off and buried in shallow graves. This is coming to America. Everyone downs Bush but he's a saint compared to what we have now. Watch this and after this watch Bush give Micheal Murphys parents his medal and holding back tears as he spoke. N0bama was probably thing lets get this over with. Search this it's 14 minutes but to me this is a true presentation then compair the faces of Bush to N0bama. Medal of Honor Presentation to Michael Murphy if you don't tear up your have no heart. Speaking of the Marine replies they were the ones that called for the OP. The use sports teams in all their OPs Red Wings is a Hockey Team. After the 4 SEALS located the HVT then they were supposed to call it in so the that the mission of killing or capturing this leader which the SEALS were to call back and said they spotted him their code name for him was "Rick James" they spotted him and that's when the communications didn't get through and all hell broke loose. Anyone seen Restrepo on here? It's a Documentary of this same valley and you see real time footage of how it is there. Watch it.

For someone who eats, sleeps, shit and otherwise does nothing in life, you have no idea what goes on in a combat zone. So let's not get your war games you play on xbox confused with real life. Until you have 30 people throwing bombs and shooting at you, and you have to make a split decision to figure out if you want to live..well, you really can't say shit because you aren't there. So play your games and continue on and act like you know everything about "modern warfare."
