Many more could have been saved, but you can't turn back the clock. Like Sir Nic said we should focus on the present, not past. And I see a lot of Children facing extermination at the hands of IS in Iraq and Syria. There must be something we can do to help them. Remember, if it's not impossible it's just a matter of finding a way of doing it.

It’s unfortunate FDR wasn’t the man who wrote the letter. Character is measured by how you treat people who can do nothing for you. By this logic, Nicholas Winton had character and FDR had no character. I love Sir Nicholas Winton. What great man. Xx

The return letter cast doubt, (in my mind), if president Roosevelt ever SAW that letter. I think that Roosevelt would have thought very much and hard about it.

whether it was seen or not by FDR or one of his flunkies, the answer "NO' "UNABLE TO" painted the entire U.S.A. population, those goodie-two-shoes lily whites, BIGOTS, RACISTS, and a large chunk of them, K.K.K.. He was too busy ignoring the atrocities, genocide in Europe - until a Japanese torpedo knocked him off his ass. Those who called themselves Christians completely ignored what our King taught us: give shelter to the weak, the small, protect and nourish those little ones. But all of you so-called righteous Americans looked the other way not wanting to get your pure little white pinkies dirty. Sir Nicholas Winton said, "a great deal more could have been saved" The children he did get onto the 'Kindertransports", went to warm, loving caring British families. Canada did not escape unscathed - yes, we proud True North Canadians - so tolerant --yeah - sure. We got us great big black eyes and a bloody nose - none of you wanted to take in small children to look after - they would have been glad to wear hand-me-down clothes, socks, shoes - what kind of hardship would an extra potato, spoonful of vegetables, a small glass of milk? Shame on North America. South America and the bloody Catholics took in the Nazi butchers - housed, hid, fed those filthy swine, made sure they were comfortable and ignoring the fact that God's Chosen children were slaughtered by the millions- JESUS, my savior, Mary, His mother, & Joseph, who willingly raised Him up, ALL JEWISH. Sir Nicholas saved those children mostly by himself BEFORE war broke out. The last Kindertransport was to leave the station on Sept. 1,1939 - but was stopped because that was the day the war started. We need more Oskar Schindlers and Nicholas Wintons.

Chutzpah (/ˈhʊtspə/ or /ˈxʊtspə/)[1][2] is the quality of audacity, for good or for bad. The Yiddish word derives from the Hebrew word ḥutspâ (חֻצְפָּה), meaning "insolence", "cheek" or "audacity". Thus the original Yiddish word has a strongly negative connotation but the form which entered English through Ameridish has taken on a broader meaning, having been popularized through vernacular use in film, literature, and television. The word is sometimes interpreted-particularly in business parlance-as meaning the amount of courage, mettle or ardor that an individual has.[citation needed]

I think that at the time people did not know what the "final solution" would be. Of course there was terrible discrimination against the Jewish populations, but his work took place before war was declared.
