It's a straight up rebuke of possidon's way of life. Possidon could have prevented ALL of this. All that pain. Had he just heard ody's appology in "ruthlessness" and said. "I understand. offer me your finest horse as tribute and we will end this blood fued." instead he mocked the appoogy thinking he'd kill the mortal, but, he failed to. Then in "get in the water". Ody gives him one...last...chance. He says "drop it, go home, do not prevoke what YOU'VE made me" welp. Possidon just couldn't help himself. In that moment, he told ody. "I am not the sirens who could have been spared. I am not circe who was spared. I am not Hermes who could be negotiated with, and I am not Zues who accepts that you've suffered enough. I am possideon and the ONLY way I will listen, is if you make me. ...that "you...monster" was Possideon realizing. That he pushed ody way too far, that what ody is willing to do, is far beyond what he could imagine. He was quite willing to keep stabbing, as long as it took, until Possideon gave up. He made him a Monster, and even he didn't want to experience that monster. the true mercy to himself, would have been to walk away. Because now he didn't even get to avoid the pain he had been hoping to avoid.

Actually (pushes up anime glasses) since none of Odysseus’s men received proper burials they had no money to pay Charon to cross the Styx into the Underworld. They exist on the bank of the Styx as spirits and ghosts until they can cross. So all the screams Odysseus hears may not just come from PTSD but the literal ghosts of his crew and mother and Hector’s son haunting him. On the plus side 600 vengeful ghosts helping in your fight with the god of the sea, super cool.

This animatic perfectly captured exactly what I was hoping for in this musical: a bloody and violent resolution that shows just how ugly and unfulfilling vengeance really is. It's cathartic, but horrifying and desperate and lonely and terrible. This entire song is the culmination of how ugly Odysseus has to become in order to survive. An animal backed into a corner foaming at the mouth that will do anything it takes. I'm genuinely in such awe of how perfectly this musical managed to capture the way a soul can become hardened to endure hardship. "If you are going to survive, then you will have to adapt. The question is: Will you still want the same things when you have become a different animal altogether?"

the idea of every stab being punctuated by a memory is brilliant, and the use of the wind bag as a much more direct prpulsion, where he needs to actually control the output through the rope is brilliant

absolutely destroyed by Odysseus only having one eye visible for basically all of this, making him look just like the first monster he encountered on his voyage ten years ago- 🥲

The 600 men really pulled up like "We got some BEEF we're gonna settle now!" Poseidon with a ponytail tho...! 😮 And here I thought the torture couldn't get more brutal ans emotional... 😬

I love the use of flashbacks, like it's the most painful moment in Poseidon's life and Odysseyus isn't even "present" for it, just adds so much insult to injury.

I LOVE YOUR POSEIDON. OMG the way you drew him putting his hair into a ponytail????? Absolutely STUNNING

I like the idea that Penelope saw out the window this giant boss battle and knows her husband is home

This was amazing! The flashing moments of his journey, him calling upon the souls of his friends/comrades, the little view of Penelope, the fact you can see that tiny realization on Poseidons face when he says "I will get back to my son" This whole thing was beautiful! Go take a rest you 100% deserve it

Your vision for this is so perfect! I hate to say it but the original portrayal of this song was so goofy with him flying around with the windbag jetpack the whole time. This is just perfect

This is such an amazing interpretation of the song! Giving BIG Last Airbender energy! And the 600 men rising up to chip away at Poseidon godly form? Mwuah! But what really got me were the moments you pulled away from the fight; panning to Penelope and Telemachus and the threats they're facing back in Ithaca, as well as all the flashbacks as Odysseus is stabbing Poseidon. It's so evocative despite the lack of gore. One of my favorite animatics that I've seen, and that's saying a lot!

"Me: Odyssues use "Six Hundred Strikes!" Poseidon: Muck! That was Super Effective!

I love how you represented that it was the Monster now, not Odysseus. And all the flashbacks as he was stabbing Poseidon? Awesome job

This was already significantly better than the official one just by not having the stupid air bag jetpack. I loved the way you choreographed this :D

(1:09) Looks like Hades was a secret supporter of Odysseus. Hades let them all out from the Underworld.

The raw excitement I felt when I saw this had me, an adult man, kicking my feet giddy like a kid!!! Seriously incredible work, and dangerously fast at that!! I liked the one in the livestream, but it definitely wasnt how I imagined 600 strike, save for the 2d bits at the end. So you have absolutely nailed what I imagined this song may look like, and in a gorgeously powerful way at that!!

Holy crap I LOVE THE REFRANCES NEAR THE END WHEN HE WAS STABBING HIM (tbh shows his anger even more compared to the specific animation made for the song) AND UR STYLE LOOKS FANTASTIC!!! (DIDNT use names bc im assuming at spelling lmao)

When I first listened to this song, I immediately imagined it as Odysseus opening the wind bag and summoning his 600 men through the storm to held him bring down Poseidon, you've animated this beautifully so bravo!

YO THE WINGS ON HIS HEAD WHEN ODY EMERGES FROM THE WATER!?!??! Absolutely LOVING that Poseidon design. I love how Ody's face is in shadow and only showing one eye. The lightning bolt shot at 0:35 is so cool!!! Also, HELLO??!?! THE SHOT OF PENELOPE!?!?!? OW?!?!? I absolutely love how each of his crew comes up from the water to attack Poseidon, that's so cool!! Poseidon looked at Ody at 1:30 and seeing a monster is so good omg. Love the way it looks with the wisps. I also love how his vision is blurry and not taking up the whole screen. It's such a fun detail! ODY SHOWING UP BRIEFLY WITHIN THE MONSTER AT 1:51?!?!!?? SO COOL!!!!!!! And the shot of him holding the trident is so good omg. It's so creepy and sinister! ASTYANAX!?!?!?! HELLO?!?!?!!?!?!?! Bro those transitions are so good omg, the hard work really shows. I adore how the color swaps from blue to red for violent or painful moments.

I love how you handled ody using the wind bag so much more than the jetpack joyride thing from the stream
